Two additional public holidays declared

President Liverpool has declared two additional public holidays

Two additional public holidays have been declared here during the Christmas and New Year season.

December 27, 2011 and January 2, 2012 will be holidays, Cabinet Secretary Felix Gregoire announced Thursday.

In a statement he said: “The President of the Commonwealth of Dominica has signed a proclamation declaring Tuesday December 27, 2011 and Monday January 2, 2012 as public holidays because Christmas Day, December 25, falls on a Sunday, which is a holiday. Also New Year’s Day, January 1st, falls on a holiday.”

This is how the government gets to fool the people,by playing and preying on their brain. Why these wasted holidays in an island where people hardly work and produce?Sorry for our passive, naiive and lazy people. The poorer they are the more this government keeps them in poverty.

Why are we making this about the president? This holiday was not given to us by him, it was supposed to be that way, because Sunday is already a holiday. I would question it if it was not declared.
Merry Christmas to all Dominicans, and thanks to DNO for keeping us informed throughout the year.

Let us pray In the Name of Jesus, we rebuke all negative thoughts, words and intention. Our land is blessed and we come to your throne in praise and thanksgiving. Thank you Lord for so many things you have done for us in this land. Food, Water, Preserving our life and protecting us from death. We are praising you continually and we repent of our sins and we ask for your mercy upon those who utter useless and negative words with their mouth. Show us again your glory in this land. /all power and glory and honour we give to you and we will praise you continuously in this land.

This is not new except Skerrit wants to make it appear as if he is giving people two extra days off work.

The media should have ignored the “story”.

That’s what I’m talking about. Thank you Mr. President let our people enjoy themselves, their homes, families and relaxation; Then they hit the road spending mucho time away from home working hard for the new year.
    Thanks again.

Countries like the U.S that don’t have many holidays are stressed, broke, and depressed. Let’s enjoy our country.

There is absolutely no need for the President to issue this proclamation. The law already declared that where two holidays fall on the same day, the following day not being itself a holiday, shall be observed as a holiday. So there is no need for the proclamation.
