It appears that WhatsApp service is back online after a couple of hours of disruption.
“We’ve restored service back to 100 percent for everyone and we apologize for the inconvenience,” a spokesman for the company told Reuters news service.
However, there are some reports that users are still having problems in connecting in some parts of the world
WhatsApp has not given a reason for the downtime and there are no reports that hackers are involved.
Earlier on Thursday users of the popular messaging App worldwide were unable to connect to the service on both Android and iOS.
Reports indicate the service went down at 16.28 GMT and resurfaced around 45 minutes later – only to crash again minutes later.
WhatsApp announced in September that it had reached the 900 million monthly active users milestone. It is the world’s most widely used instant messaging App.
