UPDATE WITH MORE PHOTOS: Flooding reported in several areas

In the Dublanc area
In the Dublanc area

There has been flooding in several parts of Dominica on Friday afternoon as heavy rains, associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Grace, lashed the island.

DNO has received information of flooding in Belfast, Pointe Round and Macoucherie.

Many people are presently stranded.

The bypass in Pointe Round has washed away. The main bridge was destroyed during the passing of Tropical Storm Erika.

The Macoucherie Bridge was also washed away during Erika.

A Flood Warning by the Met Office is in effect until 6:00 am on Saturday.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is already occurring or will occur during the warning period.

The remnants of Grace will continue to affect the island into Friday night, the Met Office said in a 6:00 pm bulletin.

Based on the comments I’m reading are we questioning or doubting God or don’t have faith in Him? He speaks to us in different ways or as a people. He said in the closing days those things are going to happen.Lets live by faith and not by sight.Remember, faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.God bless my homeland.

I do agree with the voice in the wilderness , we have to take things serriously,Dominicans need to repent , and read the BIBLE don’t just open it on your favourite psalm and leave it on the table, who is going to read it for u ;or having a cross in your car, some went down the river, the cross was an emblem of shame and disgrace, was CHRIST realy nailed to a CROSS or a post like the serpent of bronze,?Num 21v9; the word is spiritual, instead of making monster feast, what did u expect ?GOD IS NOT MOCKED, we travel and adopt other countries curses and invoke the spirits in our country PEOPLE i was warned before the Ball ,we can play withthe flesh but NOT WITH THE SPIRITWORLD.THE TRUTH IS ALLWAYS HARD TO ACCEPT,THAT S WHY CHRIST SUFFERED AND DIED, AND U SAY U LOVE HIM THINK? THINK,AND REPENT TRUE REPENTANCE/:

Kid on the Block if you have nothing to say please shut up. The UWP did not bring this upon Dominica. Dominica\’s problem is too much name calling, and blaming. The Lord is speaking to us and we are not listening.

You guys are taking the Prime Minister as your\” god\”, you guys are worshiping the creature instead of the Creator. God has spoken, he has reminded us through Erika that he is still God, and, he is in charge. So instead of playing the blame game you do some introspection and make the necessary changes in your life an lets all work together to rebuild Dominica.

I hear what people are saying, and do admit that it does seem to me like, why Dominica. But I see the selfishness of some people in the island.

Hard hearted, if you give me I will give you attitude.

That cannot go on. I am hearing so much negative about the distribution of the relief in DA.

I cannot believe that people would not want to share. Again the seame selfishness going on even in time such as this, where people just think of themselves.

Who is looking after the sick and frail.

I love DA, but I hate what some people have become on the island

    Cheating people from overseas.

Think just about today. Not securing the possibility of tomorrow.

Not thinking of the possible investment people from overseas can put into the economy.

Short sighted, and selfish, that’s what I see when I come home now.

    Shame is what I feel.
God is good he knows the plan he has for Dominica.

    Please allow me my opinion.

    That’s what I see.

It may seem a task too big for one but start by thinking of perhaps one thing you would like to help change and how you might do it and rally others around you. Start small: it grows big. Keep your intentions and your message pure, selfless and inclusive and others will see the wisdom of your ways and follow.

cant we see the unity during these disasters, as soon as the lights and water return we are back to the same nonsense, passing each other straight , or hi and bye and that’s it. besides the loss of life and property the energy is so good and strong every one helping each other. people you passed straight or who pass you straight you find helping them cross a river and the love seems so real. every one has to go to the river to bathe, wash etc. and every one talks and reasons. as soon as the utilities return it’s back to the same nonsense. fact of the matter there is more love during and after disasters and the father loves to see unity.

Are you a Christian? Instead of judging and condemning another, why not pray for the politicians, your country and other nationals?
God does not punish people for the sins and assumed ones of others. People are punished for their individual sins. Make a good examination of your conscience.
God knows you, the lifestyle you live, how you treat others and what you say about them. This is why Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Judge not that ye may not be judged accordingly” and this will be two-fold.
My advice to you is, look to yourself and cease your judging. If you do not, one day you will pay for it. You have to ask God forgiveness.

Engineers consider rivers as drains, that’s why we see villages and towns put up walls and make them smaller and smaller. Then we make low bridges that become dams during floods.
So what happened to the FLOOD PLAIN that supposed to belong to the river?! The flood plain should be crown land, untouched except for a bridge.
But Dominicans like to pretend we know nothing about Rivers, like we from Antigua..
When we talk of the millions we lose the river is laughing at us, “that’s my land, who gave u permission to build on my land?!”
When Roseau river coming down she saying, “why u put these bridges in my way, I will mash them up!” but when she passing under the old bath estate suspension bridge she saying, “eh eh I clean forget a bridge dere!”
That’s the kind of bridges dominica needs, nothing sticking down in the river, no beams hanging down below!
Rivers are NOT drains, they are Weapons of Mass Destruction!

      September 11, 2015

Those are words coming from the thoughts of a fool!

I bet; you do not know what is the meaning of the word “repent, or repentance.”

So, what are you are you suggesting that people change their mind from, since repent simply means the changing of ones mind! Religion thought repentance, however, hesitate to explain that repentance means changing of ones mind.

If I decide to take in a movie tonight, or eat salt and yam for dinner, which I am actually going to do: I decide not to go to the movie, or decide not to eat me salt fish which me done prepare(I would have repented from) eating my food! I heard that preached in the Roman Catholic Church for all my days as a child, I was terrified of the word repent and “sin”, if some of the priest was ask to define sin, they would be dumbfounded; sin is simply the breaking of the law, be it God law, or the laws of man!

A little bit of knowledge can do wonders to an individual!

      • Francisco Telemaque

Let me expose the ignorance of some of our people, I wrote a comment, in regards to repentance and sin. I submitted it to DNO, in two phases, the beginning, and the conclusion; to this minute, DNO posted the last part there is nothing in that last part saying much, that can be properly understood.

The foolish people has no idea to what that is related, however; nineteen people has given me the thumbs down! This only proves how shallow most of our people are!

If someone wrote something like that and I cannot make sense out of it, I would ask the person what are they talking about before I make a fool of myself by giving thumbs down!

I am a lunatic, but I prove all of you to be shallow and ignorant, how can you read part of something not knowing what I am talk about, and give all those thumbs down. Rather than some of you idiots like the one called “me” take me on, go and spend some time in a library, and educate your shallow mind, and give yourself the education your parent could not afford.

There is something know as self-education i. e. If I am not wrong Macmillan late prime minister of England learnt to read when he was about twenty-five years old!

A former education minister in the Labor Party government of Antigua, the late Ernest Williams was taught how to read by his wife who was a school teacher, he was already in his thirties when that happened: the majority of you who are writing such nonsense are beneath me, some of you did not finish kindergarten, but you go into an Internet cafe, spend you pennies, to try and insult people who are much better off than you are.

        How stupid are you people?

      • The Real Facts
        September 15, 2015

This is the problem with people as you. I thought you acted smarter than that. It appears you are not able to comprehend lofty matters because you do not have that type of mind.
You do not know the meaning of repentance? I thought you did. I suggest you research the word, look up the meaning.
I will further inform you, repentance means, to turn away from sin and believe in the Gospel. Obey God – His Ten Commandments just as the Church teaches, and sin no more.
It is not merely changing ones mind and has nothing to do with eating something else when one makes up his/her mind to eat.
One’s heart and mind must be in conformity to that of God, to live a godly life and live according to what God taught as contained in the Holy Bible.
You are being told, repent Telemaque! We are the people of the New Testament. It will especially tell you how to repent and to do your utmost to live according to the Will of God. It is in the Bible!

According to one of my religious songs”: “There’s a voice crying in the wilderness, make way the path of the Lord.”
You should know what John the Baptist said when he commenced preaching.

In these times, some have become godless, ceased practicing the faith;; some have left the Catholic Church and joined other churches. Know that God is displeased. Do not deceive yourself otherwise.
All those people who opened/formed their churches have not made D/ca better. It looks to me, in bygone years, prior to especially hurricane David, Dominica was a safer place. People were loving/caring, happier, respectful and less critical, There were few criminals; petty ones and hardly a murder. Look at today.
Music is good for the soul. It depends on the type of music/songs and words. So is entertainment. Do not debase it.
As everything else, it is not what they do but how they do it.
Some people can have decent fun; many do. There are those who do not; these overdo it.

You are the one who has no peace. Why are you offended because others say “God is saying something.”
Who are you anyway? God knows you and who you are. He knows your lifestyle. You should worry about that. This is why it bothers you at what I and others stated. Too bad for you. The truth must be told.

    September 11, 2015

DNO you said the flood was from Monday afternoon. Did you mean Friday afternoon?
It appears that the anger and fury of Deuteronomy 28″15-45, has visited us man? Here is verse 45:

Deu. 28:45 “Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

When Skerrit won the election of Dec. 8, 2014, he told us that God spoke because “the voice of the people is the voice of God.” I wonder who is speaking now and if anyone is listening to what whoever it is that speaking? We don’t need prayer but we need to turn from our wicked ways. Those wicked and evil ways that some of our pastors, priests, bishop, evangelist and other good people have applauded and been part of the last 10 years. We need to condemn them and seek righteousness, truth and justice

My friend if Dominicans refuse to see the hand of God in this and refuse the repent, no amount of aid and band-aid will help the Island. I have repeated several times that Dominica needs Spiritual Surgery where the Pharaoh Syndrome will be removed and people will begin turning their hearts to God. We need repentance from the pulpit to the voodoo palace and a cleasing from the Government house to the crack house. What will it take for us to stop hardening our hearts, stop playing with God, stop trying to take his Glory and listen to him. Repent People, Repent.

You biblical whores are ill of mind. God wouldn’t do such. How can a God who loves you unconditionally do such a thing.

How dear you Politicise this issue
How sad that you have the nerve to say that we do no need prayers
It is so sad that we are pointing fingers at others and not changing positively.
Some of us have even gotten far worse with the intensity of our hate.

      LORD HEAR OUR PRAYERS.

      Yes weeping Prophet

You have clearly made a judgement as to who has caused this natural disaster. I guess the bad people of Dominica have also brought the floods in Japan where 40,000 people were displaced and the refugee crisis in Europe where countries are pledging to take ten, twelve and more thousand into their countries.

I guess that you do not think that all the people who stayed for years on the radio calling down curses on Dominica and Dominicans had any part to play in this because of course, God is one-sided like so many of us who see from one eye and hear from one ear.

If you do not need prayer or you do not pray why mention the Holy Name of God?
God wants us to pray. He expects us to pray. He cannot help us if we do not help ourselves, in prayer, pleading for his help.
In order to turn from wicked ways, people must pray to God to assist them accordingly.
You are putting it on others but not yourself. When you attack the Catholic Church and its priests of all and you judge people, forgetting yourself that you are a sinner, as if you are not one, what do you expect?
Who do you think you are? Cease attacking and judging people! God knows what your lifestyle and your soul are like. In God’s eyes you are probably evil and worst than those whom you judge. You have much fervent praying with a contrite and humble heart to do that God will help you cease your judgmental attitude.
How well do you treat others? See about your soul! Stop looking at others.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Judge not that you may not be judged twofold.”
