The Trinidad-based Seismic Research centre (SRC) at the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) recorded two earthquakes in the Caribbean on Wednesday.
At 4:56 am a 3.0 quake was recorded NNE of Antigua.
A 6.9 earthquake shook Barbados at 6:52 am and was felt in St. Vincent.
The first quake took place at a depth of 10 km, 59 NNE of St. John’s, Antigua.
The second was located east of Barbados at a depth of 155 km.
There are no reports of damages from the quakes.
Several regional countries have been experiencing earthquakes in recent time and a seismologist has warned that a ‘big one’ is coming for the Caribbean.
I am beginning to wonder if the instruments are properly calibrated? So many earthquakes in such a short period of time seems more of an aberration than normal. In either case, we should be prepared starting with a planned evacuation route for each community.
HE will relinquish and change His mind only if we truly turn away from our wicked ways..” Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people” In other words…Devotion to God makes a nation strong but sin is a disgrace to any people….ARISE MY PEOPLE, REPENT AND SHINE…OUR TIME IS AT HAND!
Tropical countries are more prone to earthquakes but other countries may not be spared, be it a small one or a big one.
A 6.9 in Barbados and no damage? They are fortunate. I suppose it was not on land.
California is expected to get a big one.
foolish people nothing to say or comment on the subject just close your mouths
Not one cent . When r we gonna see right through this Dominica government and know they are taking us for fools people wake up.Skerit government is a phony.. Just let any major disaster hit Dominica God forbid and you will see how loyal they are.the first boat , ,plane out of Dominica they will take and leave us cra na na…..
What kind of fool are you. Skerrit responsible for earthquakes as well. You shall burn in hell.
It does not appear that Dominicans are interested in this information and I pray that the almighty will spare us the destruction but the behaviour of our leaders and our people is pointing towards Dominica getting a good shake up. It is clear that we have not learnt from Erika, the corrupt leaders both in government and opposition are back to their nasty ways.
Oh lord, please protect me and my family because the rest of the country does not care.
stupes you fool. always there wanted to blame someone instead of praying. Caring on god is watching.
Don’t tell me that was also Roosevelt Skerrit’s power doing that. He made the earth shake for someone.
Papa bon Dieu gardeeeeee nous souplait
I wonder how much money Skeritt put in that rainy day account so far? I’m guessing nothing!!!
Floridian Diaspora I nominate you idiot of the year on DNO. Your comments always fly off on a tangent to glorify Skerrit and you never ever focus on the issue at hand. When I think of stupidity I think of you.
Well don’t read them. No one is forcing you to. You claim that my comments are bad but you read them and you’re saying that I’m the one who’s an idiot? What does that make you?
Floridian diaspora, you must be seeing Skeritt in your dreams: you are infatuated with the guy.
I only see him when I flush my toilet
