A tropical storm watch has been issued for Dominica as Tropical Storm Maria continues to speed across the Tropical Atlantic.
The storm is now expected to pass 40 miles south of Dominica in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At 11 am the center of Tropical Storm Maria was located near latitude 13.0 north, longitude 51.2 west about 660 miles east of the Leeward Islands.
Maria is moving toward the west near 22 mph and this general motion is expected to continue today followed by a turn toward the west-northwest and a decrease in forward speed on Friday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles mainly to the north and east of the center. Maria is not well organized at this time and surface and satellite imagery data indicate that Maria could be degenerating into a depression.
Tropical storm watches has been issued for Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Tropical storm conditions are possible in the watch area by late Friday as feeder bands from Maria are expected to begin spreading across the island.
Sea swells will be a major concern and are expected to peak up to 4.0 metres by Friday into Saturday across the island. All users of the sea and residents in coastal areas, especially on the northern and eastern coastlines are advised to take the necessary precautions.

why don’t those labourites call on KING SKERRO lol…. since allu crown him king of kings already
God only listen to those who respect HIS only Commandmence;LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THY SELF.the rest is wishful thinking.
Be Speritual not religious.
LETS ALL HOPE AND PRAY IT CONTINUES TO LOSE STRENGTH AS THE HOURS GO BY..
only now all u know god
We so dam bad when we hear these things is when most of us know if there is a GOD
i am left to wonder when we pray to God and ask him to divert the storm do we ask him to send it out to see or spear us so it can hit somewhere else…
Thank you Steve.
I always think of this when I hear the call. “Oh Lord spare us! Send it somewhere else!”
And the people who are in Antigua or St.Lucia are saying the same prayers and then it goes and smashes THEM up and we then say “Praise the Lord….he works in wonderous ways”.
Well man they like it so. So we just have to let them do their thing….But really it is actually NATURE at work and Nature has no favourites….Nature just is and things happen.
Point well taken. A merciful God would not play favorites since he loves us all.
Perhaps we should ease up on the praying and spend more time improving our readiness for the hurricane season. And besides God loves those who help themselves.
While dishonesty and abuse of power God is watching…a time for repentance and begging for mercy.
For every disaster the politicians benefit while we suffer more and more setbacks.
Dear God,
Please spare us!!!
I knew it boy look things for me that weekend there.
