Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has said that construction works at the much talked about ‘state-of-the-art’ new Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) is expected to resume next month [November].
This after he met with a special delegation from China which visited Dominica to hold discussions on the hospital and schools, he said.
“I have been advised by the Chinese side that we could see a resumption of works at the new hospital next month,” he revealed on state-own DBS Radio on Sunday evening.
Work on the facility halted after the passage of Hurricane Maria.
Skerrit stated that the Chinese team agreed with his government on a number of requests made in respect to matters relating to the functionality of the floor plan of the hospital.
“We signed an agreement on this and they will move to make those changes as requested by the Ministry of Health,” Skerrit said. “The Chinese government has also agreed to redo the roofs of the hospital.”
He explained that two buildings already constructed by Chinese so far will continue as planned.
However, he said the remaining nine buildings will be redesigned to include concrete roofs.
“So that it will eliminate the possibility of the roof being blown away in the event of a Hurricane,” Skerrit stated. “They have also agreed to review the windows and the doors. The windows will be able to withstand 150/160 mile winds…the hospital itself we can feel much safer.”
It seems as if you people in Dominican are made with a heart of stone, walking your lives with a stature of mind without wisdom and understanding because it is plagued with darkness; I will continue to say.
Everyone in Dominica should understand the destruction of Maria, which left the whole Nation stranded in Life. The Government needed to look after first things first, which was helping the Nation to get back on their feet, firstly having a roof over their head; making it possible for drivers and pedestrians to go on their daily routine, and what other services that were necessities–not luxuries–how were they able to put all of those aspects to work if they did not hold back on certain things –such as the construction of a new Hospital?
For crying it loud! What is 12 months after a category 5 hurricane destroyed our functioning of Life –come on people put your minds to work, in the places where there is Light–GET OUT OF THE DARKNESS!

Within the next few weeks we will also be informed that contract for the new state of the art airport have been signed (by now they have been signed 3 times), the new state of the art hospital in Marigot has finally been approved by Mexico (by now it has been approved twice), construction of the state of the art geothermal plant is to commence soon (by now it has commenced twice already), a contract to construct 5 new state of the art bridges is imminent (you know the once that last at least 2 years) and next month, according to the PM, we should see pink pigs flying in the sky above Roseau… DOMINICA NICE!

I knew all along that this announcement would come sooner rather than later because elections are around the corner. Just before elections Dominica always gets a new airport, a new state of the art hospital, a new hospital in Marigot, the geothermal plant is about to go on line and the work on at least 5 new bridges is about to start. If Skerrit was not a notorious liar we would have by now in operation: 2 international airports, 3 new hospitals… And Skerrit keeps on fooling the citizen of DA!!

Well you cannot solve both… galvanize, winds blow… concrete roof, earthquake… it’s better to think of which is more likely to occur. We haven’t had a serious earthquake in DA for quite some time and hopefully it will remain that way, so a concrete roof is not really a bad idea.
A new hospital was promised as one of the four pillars project over 10 years ago. Please prioritize investment into infrastructure for the health care industry as this helps bring longevity of our people.Also the north need a top class medical facility as our main airport & all these hotel rooms in the pipeline.

Everybody in Dominica must be confused by this one! How much ridiculous, and comical will Roosevelt get? Here have a so called state of the art hospital under construction; this is a addition to the old Princess Margaret Hospital built by the British in the 1950’s.
If reality was reality in Dominica, I would imagine from the time Roosevelt brought the Chines in and construction began, work would have continued until complete!
Prior to the commencement of a project all of the money should be allocated, so how come there is a halt construction, and now Chines visit to hold discussions.

What a shame, what a shame what a shame! I must admit that I am very ashamed with the way Skerrit treats the people of Dominica. When he became PM in 2004, he met three hospitals functioning like hospitals ought to function. Since then he felt the best thing to do was to close down the Marigot hospital and use the then hospital medical doctor to run in the Marigot constituency for him. I’m quite sure he was well paid to do that. Skerrit did not even think of the number of people that could be affected and even die because he closed down the hospital. But what I am vex about is to hear him talk about work to resume on the PMH, 13 months after Maria. Does Skerrit think of what is important to us? Since Maria he paid Judas thousands of dollars to curse UWP and come and bow he knees to him. Since Maria he has paid several new candidates large sums of money to leave their job to run on a DLP ticket. All to protect him but to HELL with the people even if they die so long he buries them.

Let me tell you something; the closing of the Marigot Hospital is not the only old institution Roosevelt shut down you; the man shut down police stations, in an area where the drudge dealers passage their drudges; it appeared he wanted then to bring their drugs into the country free from police intervention.
The sad thing is that there are plenty people in the country like foolish Elizabeth propping this evil guy up. Don’t be surprise if they vote that man back in to office.
Skerrit does not have any source of revenue to run the country that is why you see work on the addition to the hospital stop. It does not appear even the Chines are interested in wasting time with him anymore, hence he depends on the sale of passports to get money.
That source soon dry up. The Chines told Roosevelt the only way Dominica will begin to make some progress is when he build an international Airport!

The Marigot Hospital was perhaps little over a hundred years old; the same as the Portsmouth Hospital, and wherever they are in Dominica. Age was not the reason; the reason is Roosevelt Skerrit refused to maintain and do renovation work on the hospital when it was needed.
Hence, he that idiot Roosevelt Skerrit allowed termites, rodents, and mole to take over the old institution where many life’s were saved during the colonial rule of Dominica.
Every former administration after the British left maintained the hospital; until Dr. Punjab, that idiot came along destroying everything in his path!
