Get your facts straight – Pestaina to Savarin

Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) Judith Pestaina has denied claims that member of the Integrity Commission Sir Brian Alleyne has been attending DFP meetings in recent times.

National Security Minister Charles Savarin has called for the resignation of Alleyne on several grounds, including what he said was credible information that Alleyne have been attending political meetings of the DFP.

Savarin said his evidence can prove that Alleyne attended a meeting of the DFP Executive on Feb 7th to discuss the possibility of General Elections being called in March 2011.

But the DFP Leader has brushed aside these allegations and is demanding that Savarin get his facts straight.

“The only DFP meeting he attended was when Charles Savarin was the leader and when Brian Alleyne was the leader. I have never seen him at any DFP meeting whether informally or formally, so Savarin needs to get his facts straight,” she said.

Pestaina said further that she thinks this is a diversion from the real issues pertaining to the Integrity in Public Office (IPO).

“We understand that the report of the IPO will be tabled in parliament and this is the issue he should be addressing. I think this is more relevant to the Dominican public,” she said.

According to her,  Alleyne has a right to make comments on topical issues if he wishes and “being a member of the IPO doesn’t preclude him from expressing a view on anything that is current and relevant to Dominica whether it’s socially and politically”.

Alleyne is currently out of state and could not be reached for comments on the matter.

All I can say is that politics makes strange bedfellows and there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics- just permanent interests…….Dominican politics is a text book case of that…I am done following this running show called Dominican politics—no one or nothing can make any reason or sense out of this waling theatre called Dominican politics. But one thing is clear, there are plenty characters –some of them absurd and some real, some old and some young, some legal and some illegal, some moral and principled and some are not, some godly and others presenting and presently to be godly—but all in all, Charles Savarin for the last four (4) decades has been my favorite character and a crowd pleaser —yes character—he needs the highest award bestowed onto him for his distinguished behavior.

It is my opinion that no one should waste time and respond to Charles Savarin. We should all just allow him to express himself as the one of the biggest fools and opportunist this country have ever seen.

Tell him, Mrs. Pestaina!! if the DFP plays its cards right, it could be a serious contender during the next elections!! Be sure you put together a strong team!!! There are a lot of intelligent, professional, vibrant YOUNG persons in Dominica who can bring a fresh perspective to politics in general…I wait patiently to see what you will bring to the table next time around.

For there to be change on Dominica , More women need to come out in the same way that Ms.Pestina has been doing.According to the calypso, It is women time and yet so much suffering in Dominica and they are so quiet!!!

To all women in Dominica, Come out and make your voices be heard against corruption and injustice, or else your kids will not have a future to look up to in da.

I support Ms. Pestina in all her efforts to bring about sanity in my land. Next Prime Minister Judith Pestina. Soon enough.

Dominicans, we don’t have to settle for less. Do you all see what is happening? And what comes out in public is only a very small percentage of what is really going on. We deserve better, we deserve men and women in leadership positions that will have the interest and development of Dominica at heart. Not men and women who align us to so many foreign countries, claiming that we are getting assistance for different projects, but we really don’t know what the real situation is. We see various projects implemented by the present government, which is good, but what is it going to cost us. What is the understanding and arrangement with these countries. The people of Dominica HAVE A RIGHT to know, and the people we elected have a responsibility to let us know. It will always be suspicious when part of it is a secret. Bring it out in the open, all the facts involved, including the financial aspects of allllll those projects. A lot of these projects are tax payers money, we are the ones paying the taxes and we demand to know all the facts.

An the first price goes to Charles A Savarin, first runner up C.A. Savarin, second runner up Charles “Charlo” Savarin. Unfortunate no more nominees to receive paticipation trophy.

Believe it or not, Charles Savarin is the worst enemy of the State and ultimately will regret his actions while he sits at his Master’s table singing for his supper. When such dispicable behavior becomes the talking point, and the voice of the corrupt, while it tries to destroy the noble men and women of the land for his own interest, the land is in great peril. The majority has spoken, election is over and everyone who voted their conscience has enough time for deep reflection over their voting actions. They seem to have relished on what they have brought on themselves and continue to perpetuate the status quo. The ignorance that has taken over the course of reasoning in Dominica is quite deep. It requires a grass root operation in educating the masses to change things around in the right and a respectable direction. Lougaoo has seen the darkness and loneliness that is in store for those who habour such behavior.
