Government to address quality issue in regard to fuel sold at the pumps

For the past several days not only have motorists in Dominica had to wait in long lines to get some gasoline at the pumps but according to some of them, the quality of the gasoline that they have been getting is not up to standard.

Some have even complained about having difficulty starting their vehicles.

Now, the Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Trade, is planning to put more robust systems in place to address the issue of the quality of fuel made available at the pumps.

Trade Minister, Dr. Vince Henderson said so during a live interview on state-owned DBS Radio on Tuesday.

“Certainly and as I met with the staff of the Ministry of Trade last week, one of the things that I raised is our capacity to test the quality of fuel that gets on island and to identify any factor that is affecting the quality of fuel on island,” Dr. Henderson said. “So that is something we will be looking at.”

He indicated that the Ministry of Trade, through consumer affairs, has been paying close attention to this situation, “but in my view, we have to upgrade that to bring the science into play.”

“Because we have heard all sorts of explanations about quality of fuel and I know in fact in discussions with Petro Caribe that there were some factors that affected some of the quality of fuel that [has] been supplied and that has been addressed, but we will ensure that we have more robust systems that can determine what is affecting our fuel, if anything, and to respond accordingly and in time,” he said.

DLP supporters.. what will it take for allu to wake up, at what cost will you give up your monthly handout from the government?
I’m embarrassed, the level of corruption in this country is a total insult to the people of Dominica, so blatant but yet he still there. Unexplainable wealth and the people just smile and remain silent like the minuscule handout they get is worth it compared to this man selling out the country and it’s hard working citizens.
If your leader was honest human being and cared for the people of Dominica he would develop industry and grow the economy instead making the people if this country dependent on him.

we’re in 2022, 140+yrs after gasoline was invented, probably 50+yrs after we had our first gasoline engine vehicle in Dominica and only now we’re gonna look into testing the quality of fuel being sold to the ppl of Dominica

ALl you really have audacity in that DLP dere. You should bow your head in shame for what is happening!

Your incompetence has not only inturrupted the supply of gas in the country… but you have exposed further incompetence by showcasing your inability to quality control the limited amount of gas that does enter the counrty.

There are only two ways to look at this:

    1) our government is totally incompetent resulting in an overall shortage and the likelyhood of damged vehicles for those who do get gas.

    2) our government is a very wicked entity that is trying to intentionally stiffle the local economy and intentionally destroy the vehicles of hard working Domincans.

At this point, I am leaning towards number two, because I refuse to believe that the government is too dumb to realise that there would be fall out from the Rubis fiasco!

How does the government address a problem that they caused, that they wanted to cause and and they planned? Are we so blind that we can’t see that? The fuel crisis in Dominica today is no doubt was engineerd by Skerrit and my DLP

For this country to ever get better the people running it, would have to put the country FIRST. Not their unqualified friends and cousins who use arbitrary rules to suit their agendas. People cannot take criticism and the fear of “looking bad” is asinine as we are long last that point. Easily one of the poorest countries in the world despite funds that could’ve ended that 10 fold. The people deserve a bailout and that expensive abattoir should function to support the small farmers. As long as the people with the opportunity to implement real change are only motivated by status the stain of corruption will continue to deepen. These people are not ashamed of their mediocrity. I wonder why the people do not feel they deserve better. Party politics is a trick. All parties are run by buffoons interested in personal gain. The people need to care about the people. This island should be self sustaining but the ones in charge only care to sustain themselves. What an embarrassment. A facade.

This fuel debacle is unsurprising. Every sector is taking a hit. You have people working hard in agricultural office to help the farmers and idiots like the lazy troglodyte Etienne who actively get in the way of that unless it suits his personal toad agenda, without collusion you can’t get anywhere in this country. So much money spent on a abattoir and Etienne laughs and looks for himself while setting up farmers for failure. No gas, the local economy is in shambles and politicians only seek to serve their own. A profound lack of accountability keeps us in this cycle and to top it off, food prices will be raising as if citizens of this country even make enough to afford it at its current rate. Money is coming from Japan and China and the citizens get nothing but shell programs that facilitate more debt. Kudos to the egos being fluffed up at the price of actual growth. The people suffer and those accountable care more about appearances. This country will stay in the dark ages. 👍🏾

Every time there is a negative it’s “government to address.” Whenever it’s a positive it’s “Skeritt” to address. That’s how this guy runs things.

By what standards do Dominicans judge Skerrit and his government. It appears to me he gets high marks for just doing the minimum.

    December 21, 2022

After listening to the entire interview of the lying Dr Vince yesterday something’s became clear to me:
First Vince gave assurance that “things will be back to normal within the next few days.“ Then he went on to give dates December 22, 25 and 27. it’s clear to me that Vince didn’t even take the possibility of sea swelling again into consideration because it is clear that sea swell was not the reason for no gas on island on Christmas week!
Secondly. Vince made it clear to me that the no gas was probably man designed as a coverup. Look Christmas is in 4 days and prior to the elections all signs indicated that the economy was very bad and Christmas would be dead. So being a government of deception and lies the first thing Skerrit did was to give up the finance ministry hmmmm. So I believe that to up the poor state of the economy knowing people usually shop during Christmas, those guys Stopped fuel from coming so they could blame it on no fuel. These guys always look for a scapegoat

Now, Mr. Peter is regretting that he ever sold his horse. My next order of business will be HORSE 🐴 BREEDING. We once had them for our reliable transportation and I will bring them back. No gas but grass. The extension to my horse breeding business will be: HORSE RIDING LESSONS. From ages 5-95. Each student must bring a bundle of hay. Horse 🐴 won’t go without Hay.

The level of fuel on island 4 days before Christmas is as bad and contaminated as the cabinot of Roosevelt Skerrit . The poor quality of fuel is a direct reflection of the governance of Dominica and the worse is yet to come

    December 21, 2022

Truth is Skerrit and Vince in 2022, have reintroduced Dominicans to donkey and horse transportation during the Christmas week as most cars are cannot leave their yard for lack of fuel. Any one has a horse or donkey available? I am willing to pay any price for them because I want to make my Christmas shopping four days before Christmas

You are right. It would appear that the minister is deflecting from the real problem. It is disrespectful and amounts to talking down to people and playing them for fools. Like you hinted you are talking about the quality of gas when there is no gas. Start by making gas available.

And there I was thinking we have a bureau of standards in Dominica, what a laugh. Who is going to pay for repairing my engine apart from not being mobile. Blast it man, serves me right for being too gullible. Whom can you trust again, that cabinet of deceptions then.

It’s clear that everything which Skerritt and the cabal get involved with just deteriorates into chaos. That’s evidence of dirty dealings. In a two by four country with so many ministers and parliamentary secretaries why can’t the citizens get value for the high cost of government? It’s clear that it’s a one man show no matter how many puppeteers are involved. I’m sure there will be more embarrassing scenarios to follow. Shouldn’t the government have a report of the quality of gasoline which will is intended to be imported before the stuff arrives here? Isn’t there a bureau of standards in the country? This proves that political interference rules the day in the country. This cabal let’s leaders of huge countries with massive populations look like geniuses and we’re a two bit country run by incompetent buffoons. The population decreased yet the ministries increase and the output is worse. The fancy names for the ministries don’t mean a damn thing.

Vince stop pretending. Dominica is getting two types of fuel and there is nothing robust you can do to correct that. The fuel we get from West Indies oil from Trinidad is of very high quality and standard so to was the one we use to get from Rubis. But the one we are getting from Petro Caribe is of very poor standard and I have no doubt it’s coming from Venezuela. So don’t come and play doctor /patient game here boss

It is not only the quality of fuel as supplied but the likelihood of contamination while in storage in Dominica.

There has recently been cases of water in fuel. This I have experienced and I can vouch for. Hence, numerous problems with both gasoline and diesel engines.

Hope for the best but expect the worst in a Roosevelt-led mal-administration. Anything he touches turns to coal dust. The country’s agriculture, manufacturing sector, national security, public sector, now fuel security have all been victims of Roosevelt’s inadequacy, conceit and gross ignorance.
