Grand Bay man charged with attempted murder

Desmond Rock of Grand bay has been charged with attempted murder and shooting with intent in connection with the shooting of Peter Hodge of Gutter village and Imcarchie Peters of Kings Lane.

Hodge and Peters were shot on Friday March 8, 2019 while they were in a bar owned by the Peters family, by someone whom police said arrived on the scene with a scooter.

According to police, Hodge was shot in the face. He has since been airlifted for medical attention abroad. Peters who was shot in the leg, was discharged from Princess Margaret Hospital the same evening.

The 26 year-old Rock was picked up by the police this week.

Prosecutors objected to an application for bail claiming that  Hodge who was shot in the face, remains in critical condition.

Rock has been remanded in custody.

For the life of me I will never understand. How on earth a man is granted bail for an alleged murder, only (less than three years) arrested and charged for an attempted murder? The ‘powers-that-be’ REFUSE to implement the Bail Act which, by the way, has been in the making now for TEN YEARS.

If he was out on bail for a murder he did not think twice he almost did it again this time he should deny bail. This guy is a danger to society for people”s safety let him stay locked up.

I think I rather when Dominica was conservative. I remember years ago, my friend commented and said: “Dominica is the virgin of the Caribbean”. I wish this were still true. We are bewitched by Americanization, Technological Advances, the fast life of our neighbours. I understand fully we cannot remain insular to these outside influences and we must keep up in order to meet the change in times and the effects of them. It’s just that, the more we change, the more our lifestyles and patterns become like everyone else’s both the good and the bad.

Is Desmond Rock from Grandbay (lalay) or Montine. Grandbay covers quite a number of villages.

The accused shot two guys ,one is in critical condition overseas, at this time no one can predict what is going to be the out come of that victim, while the other was discharged from hospital. For Heavens sake, why cant those ravenous lawyers give the police officers ample time to conduct their investigations? They are always ready to apply for bail for their clients. If you cant do the time , dont commit the crime .Lawyers are causing more crimes to be committed in our country, I would want to think that if all Dominicans would become Christians, what would become of our lawyers, would they become farmers?

If you ever get wrongly accused (hopefully they have the right guy) you’d be wishing your lawyer was even more aggressive.

“I would want to think that if all Dominicans would become Christians, what would become of our lawyers, would they become farmers?” BEB, they are more bad people in the church than out. The police would still be overwhelmed with cases. Too many people just wear their clothes to church. They use Christianity as a cloak to cover their sins.

Why Dno had a picture of the young lady who got shot in the bar, but not the picture of a killer? Im confused :?: And miss me with that “He hasn’t been charged crap”

ADMIN: We were unable to attain a photo of the individual. There was one point when police would provide mugshots of those charged with crimes, this is no longer the case.

      Good question!
They obtained pictures of the Spanish some time ago, but can never get of those Dominicans who commit the crimes
