President of the International Foundation for the Development of Haitians (IFDH), Petite Louis Acceus has called on business owners abroad  to invest in Dominica in order to create opportunities for locals.

He made that call during an interview with Dominica News Online (DNO) recently.

“We have to tell people about Dominica to come to invest in Dominica,” he said. “That means when people from overseas come here to invest that is opportunity for Dominican people.”

He continued, “ We get people who have money to come and invest, the good thing, light will pay, social security will pay and more people will be employed…everybody will get a piece of that bread.”

Acceus advised Dominicans to go out and speak positively about Dominica.

“Do not just wait on authority to do things for you, you have to do things for yourself,” he remarked.

Meantime he is encouraging Dominicans to assist the IFDH which was set up in 2012 following the massive earthquake which devastated Haiti in 2010.

“We call on the public to continue to support the foundation,” he noted. “We are trying to put measures in place where we can assist more Dominicans and Haitians.”

Additionally he stated, “Whatever money is raised will be a benefit to Dominica and as soon as the Dominican people do more for foundation we will be able to do more for the country.”

He revealed that the foundation has assisted several organizations in Dominica including the Grotto Home for the Homeless in providing security.

He said the foundation plans to hold a number of fundraising activities soon which include a Bar-Be-Que and Kompa night.

.In November 2015, the IFDH assisted some 25 individuals who were affected following Tropical Storm Erika, including a family with seven-month-old triplets with a donation valued at EC$35,000..

The foundation has been in existence for the past four years during which it has made other contributions to the community.

Yeah, how will people come? where is the airport? go tell that to the people who have already tried and got discouraged by high taxes, and rejected because of political affiliation. It’s the reality that’s on the ground right now, this is not an opinion!

It is sad to read that a Haitian Refugee is the one pushing to get outside investors to come to invest in Dominica.
What is the Government doing? What a shame.

Yes this advice is a very good advice but why didn’t you stay in Haiti to improve Haiti and call on those rich Haitians to do the same in Haiti? I am not a racist and will never be but I personally think that people should clean in front of their door steps first then after think of others…

Well done Mr Acceus, Excellent. You are a very enterprising man. I admire your work ethic. The more you give to the Community, the more you will receive. Wishing you continued success.

  6. Acceus advised Dominicans to go out and speak positively about Dominica.–News Article

Unfortunately, there are too many who will go down to the very deep to finds something to use to speak darkness about their own home country; and just like everything else, the mind of man will receive the bad before the good–no difference from the minds of our Dominicans local or abroad.

Dominica would have been mush further in development if the negative attitude of her people was less commanding.

Good initiative Mr. Petite. However, many have considered this but road blocked by the 800 pound gorilla in the room…..Domlec’s high electricity rates.
Who wants to setup shop here, put people to work then unable to pay these high light bills? A few have tried, including me, that’s why they are not coming.

So long as Skerrit is at the top, any investment in Dominica, is money down the drain

Mr Acceus, I applaud your effort and support your move to have people come invest in Dominica. However sir, just like Haiti where I have visited a couple times, it has failed not because of the good people of Haiti but because of the corrupt, oppressive papa Doc and baby Doc family in power. They killed your country Haiti the same way that we have this corrupt Labour Party in Dominica killing Dominica daily and this inept Prime Minister Skerrit brought sever poverty to Dominica, and they are ones giving Dominica a bad name for the past 16 years. Just like Haiti, it will take Dominica years to recover from this mess and the severe poverty Dominica now faces. Get rid of this PM and his bad and corrupt government, including Speaker of the House and the Ayatollah President. ……and we will all see Dominica move.
Pray hard and long for Haiti and Dominica.

Viewsexpressed, it is only real lowlife people like you supporters and Leaders of the so called Workers Party are the real nasty corrupt stupid dogs trying to destroy Dominica at all levels possible but you lots will never see another so called Workers ….party again in Dominica not in your life times.

You prove the point of 2016 Labour Party ignorance & partisan stupidity going on for over 16 years. You ought to be ashamed of yourself and your blind alliance to this corrupt Labour government. The only suffering people – are the many Dominicans and families reduced to poverty and begging by a doctored supremo flagging away as a PM.
You and others are so blind for once you are unable to put Dominica first rather than attack people who want to see Dominica better. We have waited and be patient for years to see Skerrit and rotten Labour party government make a difference and we can wait no more.
        And UWP is credible.
You list for us (10) areas of meaningful development you have seen in Dominica that has really made a difference. I list ten failed areas. 1. Bin Bobol, 2. Fertiliser bobo, 3. Abused Red Clinic, 4. Failed Melville Hall airport 5. Decline in bananas 6. Decline in agriculture. 7 Failed tourism 8. Weak economy 9. large incompetent useless Cabinet 10. Layou River Hotel…

Unless you are a philanthropist you will want a return on your investment. Our government has its own body, the Dominica Investment Authority, dedicated to attracting inward investment and if that is not happening to a satisfactory level, they first of all have to examine why that is so. We are competing with a whole wide world to attract investment, just as we do with for tourism and investors ares spoilt for choice. Appealing to patriotism can only ever be a minor driver. If it were not mr. Acceus would be expected to encourage his fellow Haitians abroad to invest in his mother country Haiti in the first place. I am glad he found a future in Dominica instead and has made a success of it but let me remind him that the one burgeoning industry over the last fifteen years or so, security, is not an indicator of a safe business climate.

That’s a great idea sir but in this modern world of ours where people will do and say anything for MONEY,like it’s the blood flowing in their veins if they don’t have it they’ll die,I doubt very much that will change anything.I agree with you that the people gotta help themselves and not just wait on the authority to do it all but the authority has to play it’s part and lay the foundation and then you can go ahead and ask the people to build upon it. Can you lay a foundation for a one bedroom house and build a six bedroom mansion on that foundation,it’s highly impossible. So the authority has to lay the foundation and I’m not sure that by just selling passport, which is the main export of the country, that is laying any kind of foundation. Or rather how about the money from the passport sales, where is it going tooo….invest it ,isn’t that what it’s suppose to be about…

We are willing to come but we come with our vehicles you guys to charge us what you all think we pay for it or even double so makes no sense at all the ports need to do better one one full the basket but guys want to make a thousand every minute to just pocket the money self interest and every body you put in leadership that’s what they are doing Edison James was the worse and that’s why Dominica trust them any we need to come with strictly new and honest people not just people that only lookout for their friends and families.
