Authorities take aim at the Aedes Egypti mosquito

Fogging operation in Loubiere

With the potential of the Zika Virus hitting Dominica’s shores, steps are being taken control the Aedes Egypti mosquito, the main transmitter of the disease.

Chief Environmental Health Officer, Anthony Scotland, stated that fogging has started in Roseau and the environs, as well as the Marigot Health District.

“We will be stepping up the fogging operation in and around Roseau in an effort to knock down adult population (of the mosquito),” he said on Talking Point on state-owned DBS Radio. “In terms of fogging and knocking out the adult population, it has started in the Marigot area.”

Scotland added that persons in areas prone to the breeding of the mosquito should take extra precautions to reduce the population.

He said Marigot, Wesley and Calibishie have “high incidents” of the Aedes Egypti mosquito.

“So we are calling on these people there to take all preventive measures to reduce the population,” he stated.

Meantime, he discussed the schedule for the continuation of the fogging process.

“We are going and go down to the Portsmouth Health District,” he noted. “We actually doing some of the suburbs of Roseau already — places like Loubiere, Newtown. We looking at Wednesday for Loubiere, Castle Comfort, Wallhouse, and Thursday coming – that’s the 28th — Roseau Central, Friday 29th: Fond Cannie, Yam Piece, and Gutter. We are looking at Newtown, Kingshill on Monday coming — Monday the 1st. The 2nd of February, Bath Estate, Elmshall, Silver Lake. The 3rd will be Goodwill, St. Aroment, and the 4th, Roseau Central and Pottersville.”

Residents of areas, such as Bath Estate, which previously fostered many cases of Chikungunya, will be given more urgent attention, Scotland noted.

“The suburbs of Roseau where we had an explosion of Chikungunya,” he stated. “Bath Estate was like a lab for the Chikungunya. Bath Estate, Yam Piece, Tarish Pit, these areas… they will be given urgent attention during this time.”

The Zika Virus has been confirmed in many Caribbean islands including Martinique, Guadeloupe, Barbados, St. Martin, among others.

    Please take note.

When fogging please do so at a reasonable time. The fogging in Loubiere place after 7 in the morning and I was out on the street waiting for a bus to take my child to school. I got full blast of this chemical fog. I have been sick with asthma ever since.

The recording says if u have breathing problems, asthma, bronchitis etc… u should take cover. But how was I supposed to take cover when I was on the road?

So, to the people involved in this fogging operation. Take note of the time that u are doing so and do it at a reasonable time when people are indoors. I know u are trying to combat the zika virus and I am glad that u are taking measures in doing so, but please please please, souplait; just do it at a reasonable time.

    Thank you very much.

The Zika virus is a plan to cause worldwide chaos. Read all about it here and see who is behind it:

The elites are in full swing now.

This is not a political issue, it’s for our own health and could prevent an epidemic. Some trust in LINTON AND SKERRITT but I trust in the name of the LORD.

Dominica’s new religion is Politics, they have forgotten their GOD. Everything is politics. When Israel was established there was only one king, there were no opposition. Oppositions divides and destroy countries although they may mean well.
Today focus your hearts on things above not on earthly things, this is a warning.

Importance of taking statistics. If good stats were taken on where the highest rates of chikunguna originated the MOH would have a pretty darn good idea where to start and where to fog heavily.

PERMETHRIN is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and neurotoxin. It is more acutely toxic to children than to adults. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified it as a human carcinogen and it has been shown to cause immune system damage as well as birth defects. Note: Pyrethroids are highly toxic to fish, crustaceans, and bees. For that reason, EPA has established restrictions that prohibit their direct application to open water within 100 feet of lakes, steams, rivers, or bays.

MALATHION is an organophosphate insecticide that can cause acute and long-term neurological health problems. Malathion is being reviewed by the EPA for its potential as a low level carcinogen. It is toxic to fish and highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates and amphibians.

Poisoning people with insecticide for a virus that only has mild symptoms in 1 of 5 people who get it and has never been proven to cause birth defects is criminal. The Zika Virus is quite literally owned by the Rockefeller Foundation.

Trying to prevent the spread of a potentially deadly disease with spraying Baygon is like trying to build the economy with the sale of passports…it’s just NOT enough!!! During the Ebola scare a few months ago, we were informed that Dominica’s health care system was ready for Ebola! Shortly thereafter we saw our Ministers being flown out one by one for medical care which prompted us to ask: “was this how we were prepared to handle Ebola???” Many would be left to languish and die at our local hospital and clinics while the elite would be air-lifted to better health facilities elsewhere??? We need to stop making a “show” with these health scares and start doing some real planning and preparation way in advance. Dominicans are quite aware that Zika reaching our shores is inevitable. I mean by God it’s in Guadeloupe and Martinique!!! Are we prepared to combat and curtail the SPREAD of this disease in our Hospital and clinics? We WILL see!!!!

What ever smoke you inhale is bad for your lungs. Choose your poison. My best advice to the health dept. is to spray standing stagnated water; like creeks and puddles which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Proper disposal of waste is vitally important. Also, truck and car tires MUST not be discarded carelessly. And oh, are we not in the last days? The locust and frogs and all manner of pestilent could be on their way soon. So, lets clean up our backyard.

Aedes Egypti mosquito, is the transmitter of dengue, Chikungunya and now Zika. So that means since we always know where the Aedes Egypti mosquito breeds the onus is on the populace and the FOGGing operators to do what has to be done all the time. Prevent the Aedes Egypti from multiplying. Next three months will be another disease brought about by the Aedes Egypti.

Good. Every home should burn tires like we did in the past to kill them off. Mosquito coil is not strong enough but it also help.
