Cuban doctors have performed high technology skull base surgery in 52 patients since February last year.
The head of surgery in the National Center on Minimally Invasive Surgery, Javier Ernesto Barreras Gonzalez, told Juventud Rebelde newspaper that this new technique, recently implemented in this institution, allows performing multiple surgical procedures in the skull base through the nose.
Barreras noted that this way they have been able to run skull base surgeries, tumor treatments in that area, macro and microadenomas of the pituitary gland and of cerebrospinal liquid fistulas.
