Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) Director Dr Carissa Etienne, will be the presenter at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus sixth annual Bernard A. Sorhaindo Memorial Lecture.
Etienne, who is a medical doctor by profession, will present on the topic “Universal Health Coverage”.
UWI’s Marketing and Outreach Officer Kimone Joseph, says that the lecture is relevant since it will look at the provision of and access to quality health care.
“The topic will be looked at not only on a local level but also regionally and internationally. Dr Etienne sees health care as everybody’s business and everybody’s interest and she see quality health care as extremely important for everyone,” Joseph told Dominica News Online.
She added that Dr. Etienne will show where Dominica is in terms of Universal Health Coverage and where it should be.
Joseph noted that UWI is interested in educating members of the public and thus members of the public who are professionals in their field are usually invited to do lectures on various topics and present their research.
She pointed out that the public in turn is given the opportunity to listen, ask questions and engage in discussion with these professionals.
The lecture is carded for Tuesday 20th August, 2013 from 7:30 pm at the Fort Young Hotel Conference Room.
It is open to all members of the public and is free.
Dr. Etienne will speak for about 40 minutes.
Dr Ettiene let me say hats off to you I know you can do it and do it well so once again welcome back home doc
beautiful! good stuff.
Congratulations to UWI Open campus for selecting such a relevant topic. I sense a very stimulating discussion. UWI, the truly Caribbean premier University. A place of Choice to study.
Nice
congratulations Dr.
if you’re congratulating her for her election to her post, you are so late. If not, congratulations for what?
I think being invited to give a public lecture by a university is something to be congratulated about. After all, not all of us will get the opportunity to do that!
Welcome home Doc!
