Coordinator of Health Promotion in the Ministry of Health Helen Royer says a Family Walk for Life initiative carded for this Sunday is geared at encouraging citizens to increase physical activities on the island.
This month’s walk according to Royer will be in support of blood donation to highlight World Blood Donor Day, which was celebrated on 14th June 2010.
On 11th April, the Mayor of the City of Roseau announced at the World Health Day Celebrations that “Family City Walks” will continue on a monthly basis as part of a sustained effort to encourage citizens to increase physical activity. The emphasis for World Blood Donor Day will focus on the youth. Once again we re-emphasize the need for a balanced diet and physical activity as necessities for a healthy lifestyle, which can contribute to wholesome blood,” she said.
The event is carded for 3:30pm.
“Together let us work towards a healthier and wealthier Dominica as we strive to maintain healthy lifestyle habits as well as encourage especially young people to make a contribution to by donating blood,” she said.
You are going to need more than a balanced diet and a little exercise these days. This is because of all the adulteration of the food supply by the food producers with pesticides, GMO crops, herbicides, food additives and colorings and other toxic substances. Some of this stuff is very hard to wash off and there is no testing of imported food here that I know of. Organic produce is very limited in Dominica and they won't be importing that here so you have to produce your own.
Good job Mrs. Royer . You're truly allowing this department to shine !
