Gov’t to focus on delivery of health care – Timothy

Timothy

The country’s health minister says the government will focus in the upcoming months on how health care is delivered in Dominica.

Julius Timothy made the remarks at the commencement of a workshop on Thursday to reveal the findings and recommendations of a survey of Dominica’s health system and private sector.

“Government along with its development partners will deliver the training but we expect our health care providers to deliver a good state of the art product which can only be done with love for country and love for people,” he said.

According to Timothy during the next five years, the Princess Margaret Hospital will have a full complement of specialists, “as most of those who are available are retiring”.

The health minister also revealed that several plans and projects are in the pipeline for the sector.

“Government is presently allocating considerable resources to health and we are now concluding negotiations with the Chinese government for our new hospital in Goodwill. We are preparing plans for an upgrade and total refurbishment of the Marigot Hospital and we are reorganizing Portsmouth Hospital as well,” he said.

“I am pleased to announce that a key component of the economic assistance package to Dominica is a thorough refurbishment and upgrade of the Princess Margaret Hospital, with provision for several state of the art procedures and facilities, which unfortunately we currently have little or no access to or which are archaic in their operation.” – Roosevelt Skerrit

Remember we were told that we were going to get Highway on the West Coast and it was only the Rehabilitation of the road. Let me wait and see the PMH…

The Roseau to Portsmouth “Highway” is what it is a “HIGH WAY” it has always been a highway but needed rehabilitating so that one can drive feeling that they are driving on a highway….

So whether the PMH is rehabilitated to accomodate more specialists and enhanced to a modern, state of the art hospital wouldn’t it worth the while Cork Street??

Is time to stop these foolish narrow-minded negativity, this is our country and we must learn to accept improvement when it comes around!!!!!

CORRECTION, Get the point and stop your shallow thoughts. The west coast is not a highway…

We were told that we would have gotten a bypass in Mahaut and Massacre. We are still trying to navigate through both villages with a Trailer truck…

We were told about four lane highway… Only under the Canefield Cliff looking close to that.

The Chinese made it clear that they are doing only what we agreed upon. That is why the Ministry of Works is in the process of widening the bridge in Tareau. IT WAS NOT PART OF THE AGREEMENT. That is why we hardly got drains even in areas that are in desperate need of proper drainage. That was not part of the agreement as well.

The agreement is the Rehabilitation of the PMH.

Let us wait and see different..

Is it me, or is there a problem with this statement?.
How will there be a full complement if most who are available are retiring.

The last time I checked, health centers come under the health care sector, so I’m sure they will be included too.
