Increased male attendance at breast health sessions

PRESS RELEASE: The Dominica Cancer Society Inc. is delighted that the men have begun responding to the call to join in the Breast Health Campaign, which is expected to be held in all seven (7) health districts in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

On Monday 22, February 2010, one hundred and four (104) persons participated in the free testing at the Penville Health Centre, among whom were forty-two (42) men.  The society continues to be concerned that about ten (10) percent of those seen need referrals (immediate).

For example among the 104 in Penville, eight (8) women and two (2) men had to be referred.

The Dominica Cancer Society Inc. would like to congratulate the Community Health Nurse, Marie Dubois (Mrs.) and Family Nurse Practitioner, Junny Brewster (Mrs.) and team for their successful mobilization of the Portsmouth Health District.

On Friday 5, March a training workshop for twenty-five (25) Cancer Support Groups Leaders will be held at the Public Training Centre, in Roseau.  This is being sponsored the PAHO and will be conducted by Health Educator Angie Desabaye.

In the meantime, plans are well on its way for Breast Health Sessions to be conducted in the Grandbay Health District, in the month of April, to be followed by sessions in Castlebruce.

I’m glad there are so many people support breast cancer research and prevention! Regardless men or women, we should all support! I recently found something that we can all do to take precautions of breast cancer. It’s an app people can easily download onto their iPhones.

The Breast Heath GPS is an important app for all females to have! We’re all busy people. We’re always on the go. Why not plan ahead, find the nearest mammogram screening center and fit it in our schedule? Many people undermine the importance of regular health checks. This is important, and this app makes it easier for us to take care of our health! Check it out: http://appadvice.com/app/361840350

I, myself, think this is a fantastic app! I’ve been personally affected by breast cancer, so I’m a huge advocate, so please, take care of yourself!

This is not a legitimate public food warning, but it may help to extend and improve the quality of life of the people with type “B” blood.

Too much American drug filled chicken that can not be sold in Good old U.S.A, exported to countries with no food standards and no health inspections. Eat and die quickly. A lot of Dominican people have type “B” blood, these people should not eat Chicken, Pork, shell fish, octopus, turtle, American Cheese, corn, wheat, avocado, star fruit (Carambola), distilled Alcohol or fizzy drinks.

Take this information and use it or not it is your choice.
