Dominica’s CARICOM Youth Ambassador, Natasha Jervier, has been charged with the responsibility of promoting issues affecting health in the regional union.

Jervier recently joined other youth ambassadors from across the region for internship at the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana.

“They (CARICOM) needed one young person among the youth ambassadors to take on the responsibility of health and health promotion and I was given that responsibility,” she said.

She said her responsibilities will include promoting healthy living, championing health causes and getting other youth ambassadors to push health issues in CARICOM.

The Ambassador noted that while she has not made any major plans for her task yet, she has begun working.

“I have to come up with a proposal for Caribbean Wellness Day and started working on promoting other health days,” she pointed out.

Jervier explained that during the internship the youth ambassadors were given training to deepen their knowledge of CARICOM and its functions.

“We were also attached to different departments … I was attached to the health department … we were given assignments to assist in drafting policies and other documents,” Jervier said.

She noted that various presentations were made by various ambassadors during the program.

The internship took place between February 18th and 1st March, 2013.

Admin, I notice you deleted my second comment. I am assuming it is because I mentioned thae word Politics. My intention was to remind our Dominican people to focus on the positive happenings that keep us as one people, and it was not to start a Political fued; When I first read the young lady’s achievments, there was not one comment posted! I placed the first comment with positive words encouraging the Dominican people to reach out! and they did 20 minutes later. I posted a second comment, reminding the Dominican people to keep on a positive mind, instead of focussing on the negative energy that Politics is placing on our People and Country, and it was deleted! Can you explain why, too much positive comment for one post?
