Director of the Pan American Health Organization and Regional Director of the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), Dominican, Dr. Carissa F. Etienne, will make her first official visit to Dominica from July 6-7, 2015, the Ministry of Health has announced.
The PAHO director will be accompanied by Dr Godfrey Xuereb, PAHO/WHO Representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
According to a release from the ministry, Dr. Etienne will arrive on Saturday July 4th and will be greeted by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Environment, the Chief Protocol Officer and foreign service officers.
She will pay courtesy calls on President of Dominica Charles Savarin, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Minister for Health and Environment Dr. Kenneth Darroux and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and CARICOM Affairs Francine Baron.
The Massacre-born Dominican will also visit the Laplaine Health District on Monday July 6, 2015 and a Centenarian in that community.
On Tuesday July 7, 2015, Dr. Etienne will hold discussions with with Ministry of Health Core Managers on National Health Issues and PAHO Technical Support for Dominica
She will also meet with Cabinet and host a press conference
The PAHO Director’s visit will end with a reception under the patronage of the Minister for Health and The Environment in the State House Conference Facility.
