President describes PMH visit as “special”

The President and his wife chat with a patient

President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles Savarin has described his annual visit to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) as “special” since it was being done at a time when construction of the new National Hospital has already started.

Every year during the Christmas season, the President visits the facility to mingle with patients and those who work there.

“As its has been pointed out, this year’s visit is a special visit as we are visiting at a time when work as already started on construction of the new US$40-million state of the art National Hospital on the grounds of the Princess Margaret Hospital,” he said at a function after the visit.

He said there will be challenges during the construction but the outcome will be a joy.

“We are aware, nonetheless, that this construction will present its challenges but like birth pains, and you are all medical people, the outcome will be a joy to everyone,” he stated.

The President had high praises for members of staff who he said work with dedications despite challenges.

“As we approach the end of 2016, I wish to extend my gratitude to all health professionals the and support staff who continue to perform their duties with compassion and dedication,” he said. “I encourage you to seek always to deliver the highest quality of service at all times regardless of the circumstances.

He told staff members that their profession is a noble one.

“Yours is a noble profession and continued professional development in all of the various health-related disciplines is essential as we seek to improve the quality of the health care that is provided here at the Princess Margaret Hospital and indeed throughout the health services islandwide,” the President said.

Is that all you all can do ? Criticise criticism alone. I challenge all you who talk and talk , go visit the people at the hospital whether you know them or not. Pray with them and listen to them. You know what you will bless their heart and as the bible states a merry heart is like medicine. Do you know you will be contributing to them getting well. Try it you will like it. Stop speaking about Hospital, PM, President, who go away etc. Do your christian duty visit the sick and those in prison. Whatever you do to the least of the brethren that you do to me. Stop wasting your times talking about the same thing day in day out. You are only hurting yourselves …. stress… not sleeping well because you get up looking for something t complain. Start to love self to love others. Visit the sick and you will understand it is not about you but aaaGod and his commandments and nn others. Kill Me, myself and I syndrome. Respect everyone.

Most people who go to the PMH when something is seriously wrong with them end up either with and amputated leg, or death.

Not the fault of the hospital. That’s just the way it is.

The President was right to give the PMH a wide berth when he was last ill.

    A very clever man.

Go Savarin, milk it. Dominicans are fools and you know it! (wink, wink :)

Charles how come you did not go there to spend the almost one year which you spent in Martinique getting treated. At lease you lived to talk today. Be informed that in a developed world the sort of primitive bed you all have people lying on in that Butcher are no longer used any place in this universe.

The piece of metal as you all call them in Dominica “iron bed” dates back to the 1920’s, 1940’s. They are there since the colonial days, the British left them there. You all should be ashamed to exposes the nations poverty by displaying that pile of rubbish these people are lying on, that room does not look like a hospital ward, have you people no shame?

I know Charles Savarin and I am surprised he became a President. This is not to demean him. You see, we cannot see the future what one will aspire to. This is what I mean. This goes for many people. When they are younger, they never had a clue, never dreamed that they would hold a high position in the future. Speak to the youths about that. If they do we must congratulate them and feel happy for them.
You should not make such a statement about the PM. Ensure what you state is correct. Otherwise it will be bearing false witness. Be careful about that.

In Dominica as far as politics goes; Savarin may appear to you as successful, however you must remember it takes nothing special to become involve in politics and even become head of state with nothing in your head. I know that guy too, he was a school teacher, who’s students were much smarter than him.

As such he was kicked out of the class room, and sent to sit in a space at PWD in the colonial days. And even at that while he occupied that space his duties was absolutely zero. We remember seeing him spending more time outside in front of the building; dressed in his long sleeve white shirt, gray trousers, and black pointed toe shoe.

Assuming he was a success in the class room, and became permanent secretary in the ministry of education, that would have been an accomplishment. The only thing I give credit to that man for is the forty, days, and forty nights civil war he caused overthrowing Patrick John,…

The only thing I give credit to that man for is the forty, days, and forty nights civil war he caused overthrowing Patrick John, and destroying Dominica’s economy in the process.

Human life’s were lost due to that man’s conduct, and behavior, so there is nothing special about him if anything else he is talented, where it pertains to creating civil disobedience, and all out civil war!

Politics has earned him more money he could ever make from holding any other job, since he has no professional skills, by the time his tenure is over, based on his now pay he will a millionaire three times over, maybe more if he decide to become an agent to sell passports.

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahah!

The Truth is, what you just tried to say is false and untruth as it pertains to this man. He is not a role model, but a model to run away from. That is the truth to be told.
We do not appreciate what we have or what we saw in younger days. It is only in latter years we appreciate that we have fooled the people and became opportunists. This is referred to as lazy, opportunistic politicians

   You made me laugh. Do you not think this goes for everyone?
A typical example. Once when I visited D/ca, I stood at the back of the house and looked at the mountain in the foreground. I remarked loudly: “This is beautiful!”. My mother asked, what is beautiful. I told her the rising sun and the mountain. She replied: “You never saw them before?” I laughed.
We do not appreciate what we have or what we saw in younger days. It is only in latter years we appreciate it. We see things differently. Allow the President this privilege. He is in a position to appreciate visiting the sick. It is also an act of love and mercy to visit the sick. You should try it sometime. You will reap the benefit and also receive God’s graces.

My friend, you missing the point…it is that in this Savarin President and political latter years we have notice and appreciate how devious and opportunistic he has been as a President and politician. Go ask the DFP people what he said, …at all cost that Skerrit should never be PM, and that he should be. How opportunistic eh….and appreciato9ive ???????? The DFP was used as stole to gain opportunistic opening, it is has been and will be only for self some people push themselves forward. Disgusting.

When the President was sick the last time he himself did not go there for treatment. What does that say to the people of Dominica?

“The President and his wife chat with a patient.”    THAT’S HOW IT GOES. This “patient” you see there is one of the labor party’s staunchest supporters. It’s more like a friendly visit, which was masked as a general hospital visit. Well, supporters need support too.

Some of you are extremely negative. Due to your comments, it always show which side you are on. By your words, it is people as you who will be turned off UWP and its supporters. It is also your critical attitude which will cause others to say they will never support UWP. You obviously will never give this a thought. You are only interested in what you have to state negatively. People as you never have something constructive and encouraging to state. UWP will never gain more support because of people as you, supporters.
