A team of doctors arrives in Dominica tomorrow (on March 9th) for the Rotary Club of Dominica’s second annual “Hearing” Mission.
The programme, which the club describes as a resounding success, focuses on people who are experiencing hearing difficulties and would benefit significantly from a hearing aid.
Three audiologists from the Centres of Hearing Care and members of the Rotary Club of Boardman, from the US state of Ohio, will be on island for a period of one week.
This year, hearing clinics will be held at the Portsmouth, Roseau and Marigot health centres.
Members of the public hoping to access the services are asked to make a monetary contribution.
“The funds collected last year were used in the training of a technician in the maintenance of hearing aids,” the Rotary Club said.
The club hopes to raise enough funds to purchase three audiometers for the use of the health teams during the screening process especially in the school health programme.
Additionally, patrons are advised that they must receive a referral from their Health Team so as to gain admission to the hearing clinics.
The public is also reminded that this is a delicate process requiring a quiet environment and should therefore, conduct themselves accordingly.
Ross University School of Medicine is a major sponsor of the hearing mission.
The club expects this programme to be an annual feature on its Calendar of Events.
Where can I find the schedule?
Good initiative as always from the Rotary Club. Keep up the good work!!!
