Tackling cervical cancer

cancer500,000 signatures is what the cancer society movement in the Caribbean is targeting, as a signal to regional governments that they should do more to prevent cervical cancer among women.

The petition will be launched at 3:00 pm today in Dominica, simultaneously with other Caribbean islands.

President of the Dominica Cancer Society Vina Royer said Caribbean governments must implement measures to ensure affordable opportunities for women, in the fight against cervical cancer.

“Earlier this year the Healthy Caribbean Coalition summoned all cancer society’s around the Caribbean to address the issue of cervical cancer in the Caribbean. At the end we decided a petition should be sent to Caribbean leaders on the matter. It is our hope that we can put together a resolution that will ask Caribbean governments to step up the promotion on measures that we see women get affordable opportunities to do screening, which can help cervical cancer,” she explained.

She said if early steps are taken, it could stop the spread of cancer.

“Unfortunately early steps are neglected and our women, our mothers, sisters and men are losing their wives…we need to take stalk and do something about it,” she explained.

Cervical cancer is reported to be the second highest cause of death among Caribbean women.

In order to deal with this problem we need to deal with the DOCTORS who think that they are gods and experiment on people. If you do not know it leave it. Peopel see things early and the doctors still mess up. I gladly accept this iniative:
