The Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has donated a 20-foot container of assorted medical supplies to the Princess Margaret Hospital, following a successful appeal to the diaspora community in the United States of America (USA).
The appeal was made after the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.
The donation was accepted on the behalf of the PMH by an electrician, Denroy Moses, and was presented by Senator Dr. Thomson Fontaine, on Tuesday 17th November 2015, a the UWP’s headquarters in Roseau.
“Following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika, we reached out to our friends in the diaspora and thanks in large part to the efforts of Dr. Dale Dangleben and the group of Dominicans in the Pennsylvania and New York areas who spend very long days loading this container of supplies … we are pleased at this time to give to the Princess Margaret Hospital,” Fontaine said.
Moses thanked the party for the donation.
“On behalf of the hospital, I want to say thank you,” he said.
Fontaine described the donation as “critical” and one that will benefit the country.
“I think it is critical because what you will find, for example, a lot of the supplies have to do with stuff to treat wounds and broken bones and so on. So we believe that this will go a long way in meeting some of the medical needs of the country,” he stated. “In addition, the PMH will also be distributing to the various health centers across the country because we know that often there is an acute need for these types of treatments.”
He explained that the medical supplies were the most important need following Erika and relief was sought in that area.
“We realized at the time that there were a number of people who were involved in getting food and in our view food was not the most immediate need, the most critical need,” Fontaine said. “It was important, yes, but then the medical supplies are often in short supply and they are often very expensive. It was a very good time we thought that we could reach out and see what we could actually get.”
Senator Fontaine added that he hopes the supplies will be put to good use in the country.
The shipment arrived on island about one week ago.
See the list of medical supplies below.
WHAT AN INSULT. IF IT WAS A CHINESE DONATION WOULD THEY SEND AN ELECTRICIAN?
Black people are the biggest enemies of black people.
Here they go again. The self appointed patriots
I KNEW I SMELT A RAT.
When something sounds too good to be true; or seems out of place, it normally is. Even so it is very hard to believe. I still somehow expect better from the UWP. I am still waiting. They are the party, who would like us to believe are all above board.
However, each and every time they disappoint. Why is this so? I dare say there are some supporters on the board who will try and say what? I cannot even imagine what because there are scrambled eggs all over the place. Shameful.
What I would like to know is it only UWP supporters that contributed to this medical supplies? if not what’s the big deal this should be sent to the government of Dominica not the UWP headquarters Is it a hospital? Medical supply should be sent to a medical facility not an office so one might say it’s a low key affair hence the SPARKS
I wish to revise and extend my previous remarks, based on the emerging fact that the medical supplies were not presented to the PMH or any other health facility on the Island. Why this childish approach to the delivery of emergency medical supplies? Is there any evidence that the supplies were delivered to the PMH? Why wasn’t the entire contents of this 20 foot container delivered to the central medical stores for proper distribution? Was the UWP denied access to PMH to make this delivery? Just asking….
I\’m a LABOUR SUPPORTER but it\’s good to see that the UWP Party is doing something for once not slandering the Government. Is time for them to help too.
First of all on behalf of the nurses and doctors I would like to thank Dr. Dangleben and his US team who worked tirelessly despite their busy schedule to source these useful medical supplies. I would like to thank the UWP members who received the supplies and completed the process of having these supplies handed over to PMH and the Health districts. Thank you Mr. Denroy Moses for extending your warm appreciation for the donated medical supplies on behalf of the staff and patients who will benefit from them.
This is where the niceties end. It is a shame that there was no one higher up in the administration echelon of the Ministry of Health or the Hospital who could avail themself to receive the donation. What is going on in Dominica? What example are we setting for the young people? We must behave respectfully to all Parliamentarians!
M D …..If seems that there are a lot of information missing. Why is the donation made to look like it is coming from the UWP. Was the Government invited to attend. Why is DNO post slanted to degrade the “electricion”. Like he is not important because of his job.
I have not seen anything that donation was accepted at the DLP Hq. I think the gift from the Dominican diaspora to the people is being used by the UWP to gain political points. We do not need to polarize donation for relief.
Finally Lennox and his team are taking it to Skerrit. Way to go boys.
How do you spell Good stately?: UWP
DAN Now the real story out, don’t you feel like a fool with that comment? LOL
Hey leave the electrician collect the medical supply as long as there is electrolytes in the supplies. The country running smooth man and we have mature A B and C holes in” leader sheep” positions.
Good move, lack of medicals caused the pm & his wife, pm’s son, pitbull, de president, Tim Tim and a lot others to go overseas for medical attention. That will go a long way in curbing that trend.
But it’s now too late for the pm baby to be Dominican; she’s already born in the US. Try again next time.
Why the terrorist type attack on an innocent baby. How low can those UWP boom boom flies go.
The baby will have dual citicizenship and can be president of the USA like many Dominicans.
Why should an electrician accept medical supplies for a hospital. What a shame.
If Jack wanted to send a message, why didn’t he send the Janitor to accept the medicals?
I hope these medical supplies reach the store in the hospital and actually get used. It would be sad to see that such a good contribution would be ignored and left to expire.
You not saying they maybe come expired knowing the UWP
ust wait and see when uwp wins an election to see how the same PMH big wings who couldnt show their faces at the presentation, will jump ship..typical Dominican.
Thank you to all who take time to assist our beautiful country, But make no mistake, a country divided amongst its people can never find peace and prosperity, If it appears that as indicated, That my Donation is better than yours, and look at us anything you can do i can do it too! A small Country like ous with so much RO–RO, Every body want to reach the top. But how far it is from the bottom? Only in Dominica! in the land of the blind, the one eye is the Giant.# S.M.H. The country nice boy?.
The donation was accepted on the behalf of the PMH by an electrician, Denroy Moses, and was presented by Senator Dr. Thomson Fontaine, on Tuesday 17th November 2015, a the UWP’s headquarters in Roseau.
Skerrit and company can you reasonably tell me that this small country is moving or can move forward with that type of discourse m disrespect and discord to and for each other?
Really folks I have always thought at Skerrit as PM was an accident and when accidents happen bad things happen and lots of pole get hurt. It takes along time for the injuries and memories to heal – if they ever do. This is what Skerrit, Loreen Bannis and the other characters and jokers have to our country.
@Mitch November 18, 2015
I am trying to figure out what in hell’s name has this to do with Mr. Skerrit and his government–but I have a lot of trouble doing so
What is your quote, above, saying in comparison to what you wrote in this com ment? Or are you mistaking PMH as PM?–then how foolish!
But if not, then maybe you were drunk or worse than that, when you wrote that comment–I don’t think that the UWP members are happy with you here–since you had nothing good to say about that work of theirs.
So referring to Skeritt and others as “characters and jokers” is being respectful.
Job well done UWP. That’s fantastic news to see the opposition helping out the nation. .. The truth be told : the PMH was inneed of the stuff. That’s good news very good news. ..
One thing that’s lacking is the folks in charge of the hospital receiving the items on the behalf of the Nation. They are all afraid to be seen receiving items on TV or on Dno cause the government will fire them.. or victimize them.. poor Dominica. ..
Job well done UWP. .. stand for something. .. stand for values ………..
Don’t fall for Skerritt petty and immature politics.
This government sleeping on the job
Getting fat on the job
Getting rich on the job
Building big houses on the job
Sewo on the job
Fooling people on the job
Don’t know their job on the job
Killing Dominica on the job
They drinking and having a nice time on the job
Playing politics on the job
But one day they all will be out of a job
UWP working but the government sticking like lagliii
The big lie….the gift did not come from the UWP. It came from Dominicans abroad.
Too little too late
@al All of a sudden, your tongue has filled your entire mouth, so you do not know what to say.
This is really RELLY GOOD and responsible opposition. However, I am not surprised, since these men are true patriots. To leader Lennox Linton, continue to rally your troops! Good Leadership! HOW LONG? NOT LONG!
Idiot, when did the storm passed?
Idiot, ‘pass’
never too late to donate medical supplies. whether in disaster or times of calm.
Too little too late? are aware of what you’re talking about?? Those medicals have been here for more than 2 months and the gov’t refused to do the necessary to accept.
Maybe my eyes are failing me but the last line in the article did say that the shipment arrived on island one week ago. Stop spreading propaganda.
@al November 18, 2015
I agree with you! They did not have to wait for a storm to do this–it this kind of work that will give them much points for a general election–but only if they will do those work with much humility!
Our people in the diaspora are busting their ass to help us in Dominica and that’s the thanks they get, because you are so wrap up is stupidity it’s politic and more politic and yet you all cannot help yourselves, what is wrong with you people. I’m sure there will be more to come from others but in the mean while what does it matter if it came from supporters of the UWP , Labor. Freedom, hell no it’s from our sons and daughters living in the diaspora. And the least we could say is ” Thank You “.
Thank U for ur hard work and Love for country. It does not matter who deliver
it It is for the use of the Country and that is what is important
UWP thank u ..United is the only way we can move on ..
Congratulations to both members and supporters of the UWP. Sometimes it is good to take the bull by the horns. This is a government in waiting ready to move Dominica forward in the not too far distant. Keep the initiatives coming!
not with linton as the leader
@LABOUR OF LOVE
This is such an idiotic, arrogant and ignorant statement put by someone who is so blinded with politics that they failed to see the overall benefit. Can medical supplies be too late You been the one making such shameful statement people like who can see nothing but political. This is one of the reason the country is in such a deplorable state because your comment is is always rash and bias, you are so twisted with support your party that you can’t see beyond your nose . Don’t ask for forgiveness it is just a show because you next comment will be no different.
All donations are welcomed and thank you all for your kind consideration. I believe even a senior nurse could be assigned to accept this donation, not knowing the facts surrounding the presentation, I am subject to correction when I say that this was disrespectful. Mr. Fontaine has admitted that very early they identified that medical supplies was both a critical and immediate need yet it took almost 3 months to make these supplies available. Why did they not speak Alex Bruno as he and others seems to have had the know how of how to ship relief containers in an urgent manner. Or is this another situation where the UWP is exposed as a bunch of fancy talkers that can’t deliver. Just imagine if these jokers were in office, the country would still be shut down.
Great timing, while Skeritt is telling Dominicans the opposition parliamentarians are useless as far as assisting Dominicans post Erika, Mr. Linton and his team have been working behind the scene. Eat your hearts out, Simeon, Tony, and DLP supporters on Kairi.
UWP must do better than that, you giving supplies and want to have ceremony at your office?? Then you not even inviting the hospital administrators, although it would not be politically correct for them to receive such items at your POLITICAL OFFICE, it appears too partisan, they are not allowed to be partisan.
Now in all of this where was the political leader??? You guys are pure waste of time, no sense of protocol, that’s a shame!!!!!!!!!!
We are grateful none the less for the gesture just bad protocol in delivery!!!!!!
Joe well said. I just there thinking that was just another photo-shoot by the UWP. Nobody see the 20 foot container of supplies, just that one little piece they posing with. Just like how Lennox pass by the Roseau clean up for 2 minutes pose with a shovel to take a pic then left. Never actually help to clean up.
A lot of persons on here asking why is an electrician that accepting the medical donation to the PMH. But what I want to know is why a medical donation to the PMH was not done at the PMH? Why at a political headquarters?
Maybe there were no medical supply to actually donate and this is just another photo-shoot by UWP
Thank you Dr Dangleben and your team!!! Thank you UWP for accepting this on behalf of the Dominican people. At the end of the day, medical supplies save lives irrespective of party colour. One day Skerrit will want to eat humble pie, along with those assinine folks over at Ministry of Health. Charles Savarin was lambasting IP when his tongue got stuck, and that was the very man who saved his life. Keep being donkeys and expect the International community to take their tax payers money and hand over to you all for joy ride. The Electrician must be praised for accepting this on our behalf. The life that might be saved won’t be a UWPite nor Labourtite it will be a DOMINICAN!!! Follow people who can use donated relief helicopters to fly charlie jong in to post bs on FB from Antigua, or their wife and her mother, sister to the Barbados and then unto the USA to make her baby while PMH don’t have bandages and aspirin. Shallow bunch of ignoramus. Dale said what was true. bat chou zor!!
One have to laugh, just LOOK AT THEM BOYS,you can see whats its all about.
You want to know why it was received by an electrician? To give some of you something to post on DNO
Show them the way Linton. Let them know you are the way, the truth, and the light. Lead by example and the rest will follow. All the party in red know how to do is to meetings that doesn’t yield to any positive results
Linton? Linton didn’t take part in that photo-shoot. You see him there?
It make no sense supplying medical supplies which have short shelf life span. Most of these supply will expire within a six month period. These gifts are presented without the consent and authorization of the Ministry. Medical supplies coming to Dominica must have a minimum eighteen (18) months shelf life span.
These donations are usually collected from hospitals in other countries that are willing to dispose of them because of their limited life span. So while the UWP is making such gesture and must be welcomed. It must be noted that these supplies have a very short shelf life and has to be disposed of within a six month period. That is why no senior health personnel was willing to come forward to accept the donation.
What a big shame! In previous donations made to the hospital the government received it in grand style. As recent as October 15, 2015, Brazil made a presentation and it was received by Doctor Martin Christmas on behalf of Minister Daroux. Today because the presentation is from the UWP they sent an electrician to receive it, because I guess the janitor was not there?
Take a look at the leaders of the ministry of health: Dr. Darroux- The minister and Mrs Helen Royer – Permanent secretay. Both individuals must understand what it means to Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold. A circle is round, it has no end.
They need to remember that it was UWP that sent both of them to educate themselves, while Skerrit and laborites were criticizing the UWP for sending them to school. I know they both have a job to perform, but they must never forget their roots because without the education they would not be qualified. Don’t play Skerrit’s dirty politics!
Not even that skerite can do. Dominicans get skerite out of there he and his cronies. Wicked people. They passed a bill in quick time so the people would have no time to say anything.
Oh my I am reading some of the comments some people sick they need some off the meds. herself like labouroflove.
I love my Linton!
Blessings to you sir, Danroy Moses, Electrician at PMH.
Seriously, de hospital administration could have demonstrated a better reception of this remarkable donation of medical supplies by Dominican’s residing overseas.
I think de UWP was technically being snubbed.
At least de stores operator or facilities manager could have received de donation on behalf of de hospital.
If Save-A-Lot was donating a container of water some high Hospital official would receive it with a big grin.
More love to you Dr Fontaine and de rest of the UWP Team.
Nuff Respect to our brothers and sisters in de diaspora for your loving kindness. Your love is appreciated.
Are you surprised, I am not. Remember Danny Lugay and the Lindo Park.
Well observed
That’s a good gesture.
Thank you very much, please do not forget the out districts and smaller health centres.
OK…so an electrician (no disrespect) was sent to accept a major donation to the PMH.
No one from management? Busy doing nothing, I guess.
Interesting.
LOL! Are we really a nation?
I often wonder!
Am not sorry.
Nous finir bat. Luckily I got out in 78 after independence iwanted my own independence lol took it got it am fine. These politicians more so the gov\’t are… To say full of it would be kind to them al.
Sad, the mentality of the most educated ones.If it was donated by a forgien country they would have dress up to receive it.SMH…go UWP well done
Oh Lord what a blatant show of using contributions for political mileage! The storm was almost three months ago, where were these supplies when they were MOST NEEDED? In an effort to find redemption for their political fopaux of pulling out from the Advisory Committee, the Uneducated Wicked People “donates” a few medical supplies. Wow!!! Should Dominicans forgive them now for being unproductive and useless for the last couple months following Tropical Storm Erica? Labourites are not buying it. Just look at who accepted this so-called donation…an Electrician for Christ’s sake. No self-respecting Doctor would fall for this blatant political maneuvering and manipulation. A source close to our precious Supreme Leader revealed that he laughed when he saw this shameful trick, knowing well that faithful and dedicated Labourites would see right through this scam to win political favor from Dominicans. The delivery of this donation is indeed way too late. Try again! With MONEY!
This is amazing, some people must stop it. Better late than never, just say thank you. Most of the health centres are ampty.
I am so ashamed of myself for the comment I just put up, forgive me please that Labor ka Twavy just had me basodee
You are an imposter –not the real LaborofLove, In the first place the true identity is without space and underlined–that is where you gave yourself up–LaborofLove would not say those things.
And I am glad that you have the thumbs down rating–including mine. It is only sick people like you, who does these sort of things.
So if they had donated money what nonsense would you say next?
so true and Well said!
When and if you ever suffer with labour of child birth it may grow up to be the next Supreme Leader. Get a life financial parasite !!!
LabourOfLove stop bringing shame on Dominica and making it look smaller than it is already. The whole world is looking at people like you with little or no brain at all. Stop bringing shame on our Island. The bush is too good for you to live in.
So that’s what became of the container brought by Dale Dangleben lol! Alas thanks
nice i love this, keep it coming, we have good doctors all they need now is the right tools to do the job am proud of you guys, god bless.
From the offset, let it be known that I am not partisan and just expressing what I have noticed.
Donations of any kind to the country by anyone is greatly appreciated…but my question at hand is, why were medical supplies received on behalf of the hospital by an electrician? Why not by the Chief Pharmacist or the Director of Central Medical Stores (the department at the hospital that handles all incoming drugs and medical supplies…and to my knowledge, they have no electricians on staff)?
Where were PMH big wigs like the hospital admin, medical director, ect? Are we going to see from now on that an electrician be the receiving person for all future donations to the hospital? Is that electrician (or any other electricians at the hospital trained to receive drugs and medical supplies (an d for those that don’t know what am talking about…trained on the matter of expiration date, potency, type, ect)? Or was the whole thing political because of who was making the…
It is a deliberate attempt to discount the contribution of the UWP/Team Dominica. Shame on all the hospital’s administrators and the government.
Do you know what the circumstances were why it was an electrician who accepted the supplies on behalf of PMH at UWP’s headquarters? You want to criticize and spread slander without all the facts. When you know for a fact that the hospital management was notified, when and how then come again. You call for change….but the CHANGE starts with YOU!
@Neg Dominique November 18, 2015
First of all I clicked on the wrong thumbs rating; at this point you were suppose to have 50 thumbs up not 49–sorry about that
Nonetheless you have a great point here–no doubt
Also, how did they make sure that those supplies are justified as with what the Hospital is presently using–could this be the reason no one in the official group chose to accept those supplies?
I mean that the Hospital cannot just use a supply that is given to them by a certain group or individual–on their patient– who would be responsible for incompetence, if it shows up.
There should be a license identity, in order to use that medical supply; this has to be a must–are these people of the opposition thinking straight? How can they agree to give medical supplies to an electrician of behalf of the hospital, as they pose for the camera?
Once again it is all about self, power, and fame; which never works for them
You not asking yourself IF that is a real medical supply donation or just another photo-shoot by UWP.
so, with all respect due to Mr. Moses, the PMH could not send an administrator, a senior nurse, SOMEBODY with some management authority to accept a 20′ container of vitally needed supplies? they had to send the guy putting up light bulbs?
…………THANK YOU……………………..
“The donation was accepted on the behalf of the PMH by an electrician, Danroy Moses, and was presented by Senator Dr. Thomson Fontaine, on Tuesday 17th November 2015, a the UWP’s headquarters in Roseau”.
……………………………
It was accepted by electrician??
Nothing is wrong with being an electrician.
But where was the appropriate representative. It would be good if it was a nurse, doctor or an officer of the hospital accepting this gift.
It certainly would not be the minister of health because of the political element to it.
It also would have been best if this gift was presented by someone from the diaspora community!!
However, the gift should be appreciated by ALL!!!!.
-Thanks
Dale Dangleben could have done it is his own name … but then UWP needs some positive headlines ….
Could someone tell me why no PMH HEALTH CARE official was on hand to receive the shipment?
An electrician that receiving the supplies on behalf of the PMH? Wait nuh, health care supplies for electricians that were donated or wha? You have got to be joking.
So Dominica come now nuh. Psshhh. Wow.
Something seems quite “funny” here and a few thoughts are going through my mind as to why AN ELECTRICIAN was the one receiving MEDICAL supplies on behalf of the PMH.
Were all the HEALTH CARE personnel & managers at the PMH soooo busy that day that not even 1 of them could be on hand to receive the supplies & say thanks?
Was it deliberate that no PMH HEALTH CARE official came to receive the supplies? Were any instructions given from somewhere that no HEALTH CARE official at the PMH show up to receive the health care supplies?
Ahhh boy,……….
Well done to the UWP and those who contributed to having these supplies made available.
But wait! If you presenting medical supplies to the PMH, shouldn’t that take place at the premises of the PMH rather than the political headquarters of the UWP? and shouldn’t it be presented to a senior member of the medical staff of the hospital rather than an electrician who knows nothing about medicine?
These guys must stop playing politics with peoples lives.
you are correct. my questions exactly. where was Dr. Pascal or the other Dr’s or head of Admin
Neg Dominique November 18, 2015
You have spoken my thoughts: I was also wondering why not at the Hospital
So do we not see why these supplies were accepted by an electrician. Which of the Executive of the Hospital would stoop so low–as to go to the UWP headquarters to receive hospital supplies?
But that is the attitude of Lennox Linton, to have things done his way–he fails to see that it cannot and will not happen
Thanks so much UWP. The time is near. Change is a must. We will prevail.
Wait still.
Very Good keep it up and stop studying Skerrit just do what allu have to do
