A vaccine for the Zika virus, which has been linked to severe birth defects in thousands of infants, could be ready for emergency use before year-end, one of its lead developers said on Thursday, a timetable well ahead of estimates by U.S. officials.
Canadian scientist Gary Kobinger, part of a consortium working on the vaccine, told Reuters in an interview that the first stage of testing on humans could begin as early as August. If successful, that may allow the vaccine to be used during a public health emergency, in October or November.
“The first thing is to be ready for the worst,” Kobinger, who helped develop a trial vaccine that was successful in fighting Ebola in Guinea, said. “This vaccine is easy to produce. It could be cranked to very high levels in a really short time.” He did not say when it could be widely available.
I have a question; do you think scientists are looking to see if there is a link, between genetically modified crops and the Zika mosquito?
The latest I heard, there are four cases in Canada. One in the Province of British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec. These were contracted in countries which have this virus.
It is also stated that Zika will not survive in Canada due to the cold climate. Well, B.C. is much milder than in other parts of Canada.
Manufacturer a problem(Zika), and create the solution(vaccine)….. $$$$

I heard the vaccine will be ready by the end of the year. Consider in twelve months time. By then, how much harm this Zita could do.
The question is, how did these viruses originate? A mosquito? What is in the air to cause this mosquito to attack the health and also be deadly as in the other case of Ebola.
Governments must be careful about airplanes, not passenger ones which fly over their countries. Who knows what they could sprinkle on the terrain and for their human experiments?
They could chose the poorer countries for their experiments.

I heard a man, either in Canada or the US who volunteered for some test died. People of a certain age group are invited to volunteer to be tested for new products. Upon completion they are financially compensated. You can call them guinea pigs. Some of these tests could prove dangerous for the health.
The reason I take it is for health and strength.
I would advise those doctors to give these people a good dose of Vitamin E Supplement or other relevant vitamins.

It appears this Zita which attacks the body has resulted in a plague, an epidemic. These people may be suffering from some sort of immune deficiency. Simply speculating.
I tend to take these announcements with a grain of salt.
There was all kinds of excitement about vaccines for the ebola virus only to be told recently that those vaccines may not be effective at all.
These announcements are more hype media than anything else.
The last I read, they would be ten years away from developing a vaccine that will be available to the general public.

I think the authorities waited too long. This may put a somber feeling on the athletes.
The Games could be canceled. This would be disappointing for all concerned. Come July, we will see. Let us hope this virus subsides by then.

Skepticism towards conventional wisdom is often warranted, but this is conspiracy theory gone mad.
The government has been offering free vaccine in winter/prior to, stating it will prevent the flu or decrease its effect. Some people took it. A few died. I am not one who takes medication, so far. I refused to take the vaccine. Some people I know took it. They caught a cold and bronchitis at that.
We have fruits and vegetables including certain Vitamin Supplements and this is what I take. Should I contract any debilitating virus which takes time to dissipate, I would conclude that it is not a normal virus.
Last year I heard the vaccine is ineffective. So much for that.
Pharmacists are giving the vaccine free of charge, paid for by the government. This winter I have not heard much about it.
Last winter many people had a virus, some had it for a short while; others for a longer period. Some got it and were healed but soon got a relapse. It is stated due to the weather, a mild one, less people have the flu.
They call it flu shots.
