High Court lifts injunction against DFA

The High Court in Dominica has lifted an injunction which had been placed on the Dominica Football Association (DFA), clearing the way for the election of a first Vice President for the association.

Lawyers for former DFA past president Patrick John, say they intend to appeal.

The High Court had granted an injunction to past president of the Dominica Football Association (DFA), Patrick John, to prevent the special conference of the DFA from electing a vice president on Saturday July 27.

The AGM had mandated the DFA executive to do so after it failed to ratify someone in that position at its last conference.

John was banned by the FIFA disciplinary committee for two years in 2011 and later a DFA conference voted unanimously to suspend him for the remainder of his term of office until 2015.

He subsequently filed a law suit through through his lawyer J. Gildon Richards, challenging the decision of the conference to suspend him.

As part of the suit, John sought an injunction from the court restraining the DFA and Etienne (the defendants), by themselves or through their agents and or servants, from obstructing hindering or otherwise preventing him (the claimant) from resuming and continuing the performance of his functions as the “lawfully elected president of the DFA from November 24, 2013 to July 25, 2015.”

I think PJ has a right to do what he did. But is it right for the association to try and ban him for the rest of his term? When PJ was president there were a 2nd and a 3rd Vice President elected also. Now the 2nd Vice President is in power why can’t the 3rd Vice President become the 2nd Vice President? Why do they have to call for an election? Something is not right. I smell a rat. PJ fight for your rights.

Man, what you see happening here in 2013 is a mini repeat of 1979.

He can’t get it in his head that the people don’t want him and he should count his blessings and just go chill.

It is not many leaders that survive an overthrow/revolution. You came out of this with your life, and what did you go and do…?

You came out of the FIFA debacle with practically a slap on the wrist and what are you trying to do…? Man count your blessings and chill.

You really expect after you put a blemish on the DFA’s and the country on whole name, that you will be the leader of the DFA again?

    Magwaysah!

I swear PJ have worms!!! ………… Seriously PJ it’s time to sit down and chill. Sometimes it’s ok to just walk away and lie low. FIFA put you out, why do you think you should still be managing football in Dominica? All this is keeping the game and players at a stalemate. I understand your hard work and by no means want to minimalise your contributions, thank you for all you have done for reviving football, but good heavens with you and these never ending court battles.

Injunctions are meant to be temporary and in this case the court has responded accordingly. There are certain injunctions though that have been powiing in the court system. The Dave Bruney/IPO matter; the inland Revenue / Tony A matter .

He almost sold Dominica to foreigners. What a day/time of misery and suffering this would have been for Dominicans if this had occurred. God did protect Dominica and its nationals then.

PJ is it for the love of football or you are just an abnoxious senior citizen who will not go into their sunset with some modicum of decency to sustain them. P.J, Do you always have to be fighting. And fighting for what. P.J really thought he would have appeased FIFA, live out his FIFA ban hoping that the Dominican public and footballers will soon forget and then simply assume his position in 2013 without even a comment form the DFA? Is that what he expected?
