May 29, 1979: Reflections on democracy

The following article was written in 1995 by former political leader of the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) Sir Brian Alleyne, 16 years after the May 1979 uprising which resulted in the overthrow of the Patrick John-led DLP government.

DNO, a Plead please. This is very difficult to Read. We would appreciate if this Article can be printed on your Newspaper, and also that DNO prints this article on DNO and please NOT as a copy. As is, it’s very difficult to read and as penned by one of our distinguished DOMINICAN, Hon. Brian Alleyne a former Government minister and prestigious Lawyer and dedicated Dominican.
Much appreciate your article 😃 and the service that you have well done for we the people of Dominica and our Nature Isle Dominica.
    Thanks much.
We sincerely hope that the entire script will be printed ordinary and not cut and paste. It’s extremely difficult to read as is.

Very good read. The irony is, although some of the events occurred before I was born, I feel its so relatable to our current situation. The question remains: have time changed that much? Consolidation, stabilization and settling down in the scope of 1979 uprising seams to have subside. However, a new era of frustration has ushered in and just like the afore mentioned events, it seams to be fueled by personal interest seeking financial advantage and profits.

Kudos to DNO for this publication, however the method is pretty lazy …
This article could have easily been transcribed and properly presented. Engage a student at one of the high schools or college if you have no staff. As the premier online new portal for Dominica you need to raise the bar a bit.
There are OCR desktop scanners and even cellphone apps that could have done this in minutes .. Raise the bar DNO … and thanks for your effort all the same !
