In acknowledgment of International Men’s Day and Universal Children’s Day coinciding today, and the holistic relationship between the two, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services, Dr Cassandra Williams, outlines the country’s respective themes for the joint observance: ‘Investing in our future means investing in our children’ and ‘Fatherhood and health: the building blocks of family resilience’.
Underscoring the need to address the issue of child abuse, the minister also mentions the focus of government on community-level programs, activities and future legislation, aimed at “bettering the lives of children and their families.”
Listen to the entire statement below:
Very nice doc- but what about a new bridge at the Sari-Sari River crossing?
Every major flood this main crossing blocks the flow of traffic, trade and commerce. So, on next nice statement and speech, I am sure your La Plaine constituency residents would appreciate if you would provide a timetable (if you can) when they will get a new bridge. which they so desperately deserve. Until such time Doc – you are not doing much………. at all……..
Dominica has been disintegrating for the last twenty years under the incompetent rule of the Roosevelt-led autocracy. No other lives are more endangered than that of young men in their prime and those of children.
Children are verbally, physically and sexually abused daily. Young men, in their prime of life, wander the streets aimlessly, unemployed and often find themselves entangled with the law or dead.
On special dates dedicated to them ( men and children), ministers give fancy speeches, make toothsome promises which they know they don’t have any intention of keeping. The lives of men and children in Dominica are in serious peril.
