The newly elected President of the Nature Isle Toastmasters Club, Dorothy Jno Baptiste, advocates for a greater national focus to be placed on Public speaking and leadership development.

She explains that regardless of your career in life, being an effective communicator can be the difference between success and failure.

“The ability to communicate your ideas clearly, effectively and coherently to your audience can serve as a catalyst for upward mobility in your professional life,” she said, further stating that “effective communication skills widen your horizon not only on the job, but in your very own spheres of influence, be it in the community, a social or sports club; effective communication holds a benefit for all and that’s why I joined Toastmasters.”

“Since joining the Nature Isle Toastmasters Club, I have developed an increased confidence in delivering presentations before an audience and the jitters I once felt quickly dissipate as I begin implementing the techniques learnt in my communication manual,” she said.

“The leadership component of the toastmasters program is uniquely designed to foster a better understanding of the mentoring and team building aspects of leadership development” Jno Baptiste added. “I recommend Toastmasters for anyone seeking to improve their communication and leadership skills.”

The Vice-President of Education at Toastmasters, Larry Bardouille, explains that “the education program is uniquely designed to start you off with the very basics of public speaking: the Ice-breaker Speech, to more advanced speeches in Public Relations, Crisis Management, Television and Entertainment to name a few. Members are mentored by other seasoned toastmasters to ensure that their toastmaster journey is a smooth and memorable one”

The Founder of Toastmasters Dr. Smedley once said, “The unprepared speaker has the right to be afraid,” which is why Toastmasters teaches the art of preparation.

Toastmasters clubs provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. The Nature Isle Toastmasters Club is one such club and it meets at the DSC Campus, Bath Estate every 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month at 6pm. The general public is invited to visit a meeting of this local Toastmasters Club and learn more about what Toastmasters has to offer.

Please visit the facebook page of the Club “Nature Isle Toastmasters Club” for more information.

Hello and good evening my people. Well Ms/Miss Jno Baptiste I am happy that you improve on your delivery and you feel more confident when speaking in public. Now please help some of our Politician and Police Officers to improve their manners when communicating with the public.

I would like to see some of that being introduced into our schools. Does your organization have school visits on its list of priorities? That would be a good way to start.

It looks like you are in need of that valuable learning experience as it is obvious you are unable to focus on the relevant issues. Those two things have nothing in common.
