McLawrence’s body was found on Tuesday, September 30

The Dominica National Council of Women (DNCW), on behalf of all its members, strongly condemns the brutal murder of 46 year old Portsmouth resident, Marilyn Mc Lawrence whose lifeless body was found On September 30th 2014 along a well known footpath in Portsmouth.

DNCW extend deepest sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased late Mrs. Mc Lawrence. We will continue to keep the family and love ones in our prayer as they continue to grapple with this tragedy.

Recently a similar tragic violent murder was recorded against a female and we must continue to be mindful of this trend which leaves behind grieving families and children without their mother.

Any form of violence against a people is one too many therefore as a country we must be vigilant and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice in quick time.

The Council wants to appeal to all community members especially in the town of Portsmouth to be on the alert and to assist the police in ensuring justice is seen to be done. The elimination of violence in any community has to be everybody’s business and it is our duty to be each others keeper.

Dominicans awake , we should be more concerned about our neighbors, let’s bring these criminals to justice , it’s her family’s lost tomorrow might be yours ! Then what ? Someone must know something about that murder , our population is already deminisioning already . Tourist are staying away from our shores , our people have placed all their hopes in government and not survival of humanity as a nation . We send more drugs to Gaudeloupe and Martinique than any other island , we have the highest ratio of homeless people on the streets per population , we have children who their parents can’t send to school. Our women have returned to the oldest means of employment on their “backs” really shame on us we’re hurting but too can’t stop this abuse! Our villages suffer due to no assistance . We have prisoners building prison guards homes and not paying their dues to society . We can use them to clean up the streets cut the grass Mr Pm . I would wish the pm would get chickungunya and some of his Parlamentry reps. ! Let then feel what the poor really feel . The Rich keep getting richer while the poor man dies. The election is coming sometime I urge Dominicans to vote on issues not faces . It’s a prime minster’s responsibility along with his parliamentary reps to provide roads schools feed the homeless and govern out country not beat their chest about their simple acomplishments . When you go to a doctor when you’re sick he is suppose to heal you once it is possible so I say , let’s really look around our country are we being healed ?

RIP my friend. I admired the way she had the best interest of her children at heart, especially that of her children education. Gone but not forgotten.

Give me a break! It took you all so long to make a statement on this, Shame on you all DNCW! So many persons have already commented on this terrible and barbaric news of this wonderful Mother, Wife, Daughter and friend and so much more. I have never seen this anywhere else where a Women’s Group so important as yourselves would take such a long time to report and offer sympathy and condolences to the nation on behalf of this lady. Get serious please! I am upset and appalled by you all late remarks.

I’m honestly worried for your mental health :( Are you that clouded by politics you even use this sad situation as an avenue to lambaste?? Some Dominicans are just shameless and pure scum… Jesus Christ help us in this country

Something about this murder reminds me of the Francess Pierre Charles murder. I hope the police do not apprehend a known criminal just to appease the public.

Is DNCW playing politics or someone reminded them that they should make a statement. Subject to correction, I have heard a statement from DNCW as regards the attempted murder of senior citizen Mrs. Emanuel wife of Mr. G.O.N. Emanuel. I saw a picture of Mrs. McLawrence wearing a labor party red tshirt at a labor party rally, I wonder if that has anything to do with the statement by DNCW. Don’t beat up on me labor party supporters, it is political season, I am just asking questions.

The Media should know that they should not use politics in the death of a person, especially someone who was so brutally murdered. Anyway RIP to the lady, from all reports she was a very down to earth lady who spoke and befriended all colours… so to put a pic of the lady in red in a DLP Rally as was done by the Chronicle was despicable… RIP CHRONICLE
