Dominican doctor Gathline Ettienne has been nominated for a high achievement award at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Dr Ettienne, originally from the eastern village of Delices, has been named a finalist for the “Edward Jelks Oustanding Resident Clinician Award”.
This is an annual honour bestowed on “the resident who through dedication, diligence and compassion, or through innovation in patient care, is considered to have contributed the most to the improvement of patient care at Shands Jacksonville”, according to a release on Dr Ettienne’s nomination.
She has also been selected as a finalist for the College of Medicine Excellence in Student Education award.
This award is given to the resident who is identified by the medical students as being the most outstanding teacher.
According to the release, both awards come with a check and a plaque, and recipients will also have their names engraved on a plaque at the university hospital’s Learning Resource Centre.
Dr Etienne is currently wrapping up her residency at Shands Jackonville Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

CONGRATULATION DR. ETTIENNE. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR
CAREER.
Represent us Dr.
Make us prouder as a people.
You have worked hard, now it’s your time to reap the benefits.
Madam, will that be a Mercedes Benz or a BMW? Later you can move in style.
Dr.’s don’t make a lot of money these days. They usually have big loans to pay off after medical school.
I know doctors don’t make a lot of money coming out of med school. I also know that they usually have huge loans to pay after they are finished. But trust me, they do very well after they get past that. We have a doctor in our family and she is doing very very well financially. But she is also a very good and caring doctor, so she and the rest deserve every penny that they make.
Jenny,
That is indeed an accomplishment. Congratulations on being nominated regardless of if you win or not. To be mentioned in that company or thought of on that level is indeed an honor! Hope oyu will continue to do great things and bbring smiles to those who love oyu and pride ot Dominica.
Cheers!
Congrats Jenny. We are extremely proud of you!!!
Congratulations! All the best to you.
Great news congratulations
Congrats to you Doctor, God Blessings Guidance and Protection be upon you
Congrats jus another member of the dgs 5-1 class of 95 showing we were the greatest of all builders.
That class was indeed “The Greatest”
Congrats! DNO please do a spell check… how can you spell cheque as (check)?
ADMIN: American English refers to it as a “check”. British English refers to it as a “cheque”. They are both correct.
#zzzzzz
Where have you been and what are you reading? Some years ago Americans have changed some words and/or eliminated some words as also the “u” in behaviour, labour, harbour, etc. Also the letter ‘r’ in centre. They write ‘center’ and some others. I do think they should have left them alone. Whenever you notice those words, not spelt as they are in DA, you will understand. I still like to use the word ‘cheque’. Anyway, I reside in Canada and it is a sovereign country. Therefore, we still spell as the British do but none are wrong. The computer research and Thesaurus will correct them to the American spelling, at least mine, since my computer system originated from the U.S.
Lol Justice. I agree they should have left it alone, but writing their own dictionary was one the Americans’ way of declaring their independence.
True….both are correct…and she is receiving her cheque in America!
It’s not premature to make such an announcement. What’s with all the haters Nuh. The university of Florida is a top 100 school in the US. She has achieved a lot by just finishing her studies there. Gosh people just say congrats.
Go Gators!
SHE IS A BEAUTY, WOW CONGRATS THATS MY COUSIN LOL
Isn’t it a little bit premature to make such a big announcement? D/cans tend to be more restrained in their enthusiasm but what’s the rush nuh. Nonetheless, congratulations on being nominated for both awards. I hope you receive them both.
a Nomination is still worth of acknowledgement
If she were charged with a crime but not yet tried and convicted you would think it news worthy. So now she’s been nominated for an award give her her due credit. We need more of this type of news DNO!
Its never to early to do anything in life. we should give thanks and praise for for the fact that she was nominated or even made it so far in life when many others just sit back and accept life she have pushed ahead and showed us that it can happen… in a world so full of hate… please keep depressing remarks of her post……
Congrats Gathline on your achievements….Our DGS class of 95 is certainly proud of you….Continue doing your thing.
