Dominican, Alwin James, has been appointed deputy commissioner of police in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

James, from Wesley, was confirmed in the position by Governor Boyd McCleary.

He has been acting in that position since April, 2012, except for three months earlier this year when he attended the internationally-acclaimed Strategic Command Course at the Police Staff College in Bramshill, England, according to online news website bviplatinum.com.

He was congratulated by commissioner, David Morris, who said he was pleased with the appointment and that they will work together to move the police force forward.

James thanked all those who supported him during his career including his family friends and colleagues.

“I look forward to giving my best to the people of the Territory. I pledge to continue my work in partnership with the other law enforcement agencies in the Territory and the region,” he was quoted by BVI Platinum as saying.

James has served in the RVIPF for 28 years and has been Superintendent in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Congrates to the man and well done ,i do feel a sense of pride, but i seem to be getting tired of reading about person’s that have gone away and did well, why cant i hear of a local person excelling?,where is the platform in sport for example,a Dominican Usan Bolt can put DA on the map. We need to develop our own some more and stop piggy-backing on others personal efforts and sacrifices.

Its amazing how proud and excited we get when one of ours get appointed to a major position in other peoples countries. However when the reverse happens we throw a xenophobic tantrum. Just saying.

I wish to congratulate Mr. Alwin James. I hope you will use the elevation to this most prestigious office wisely. Please be patient, no sooner the Lennox Linton UWP Administration takes office, I have no doubt in my mind, you will be the Commissioner of Police in Dominica.

Your comment is so not becoming. Dominicans treat Haitians who live in Dominica as if they’re less than humans. Don’t you think you need to recall your comment? Just congratulate the guy and move on! In the midst of all the negative from Dominicans abroad, his nomination deserves a big CONGRATULATIONS!

It’s nice that our citizens can rise to the highest level there is in other people country but when it’s people from elsewhere who are given high position in Dominica there’s always an uproar. We need to understand how the world works and stop been selfish.

The article specifies “James has served in the RVIPF for 28 years and has been Superintendent in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).” Obviously he didn’t just land in the BVI or got shipped in from another country to get the job.

He is needed in DPF, as we lack any kind of credible leadership and guidance in the Police Force in Dominica…

Dominica’s Police Force cherry picks incidents to Investigate….what has become of the Gon Emanuel Matter….just a set of spin and rubbish from the law men in Dominica..

But crime hitting up there backs..take that you incompetent DFP..
