Dominica’s ambassador to the United States and permanent representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), Hubert J. Charles, has been recognized for his “exceptional leadership in diplomacy and education”.

Charles was presented with the International Recognition Award by the Caribbean and African Christian Leadership Council for his efforts.

The ceremony took place during the Caribbean and African Faith-based Leadership Conference, held at the Organization of American States on 24th June 2014, as one of the events to celebrate Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

The Conference brought together participants from Africa, the United States and the Caribbean to deliberate on critical issues, including immigration, crime and deportation; health, education and justice, as well as trade and investment.

Ambassador Charles is a former Headmaster of the Dominica Grammar School, a Permanent Secretary of Education, a UNESCO Education Advisor and President of the Dominica State College.

He has made several presentations on education and development in the Washington, D.C. area.

How do Dominicans living in the U.S reach his office; is there a phone number or email address? I never knew we had such an ambassador.

I’m happy for mr. Charles to have won an award but it is a valid question what exactly he is doing for Dominica. We really haven’t heard from him or about him since he took up his position in Washington. I understand day-to-day business is taken care of by Barbara Daly in New |York so what does Mr. Charles really do to earn his keep?

Well??very interesting what is this Ambassador doing to create jobs in Dominca ?
How is he contributing to the developemnt of Dominica by way of investors ?
How much is the tax payers doling out for the comforts of this person wining and dining in Washington ?
What is the salary ? can we really afford these unknown peole living more lavishly than even Minsters of Government ?what really is this man doing for our country besides being a prima donna officiating at finctioms dinners and parading in the US capital during our Independence ?
Does a poor country need to have all these hanger ons fleecing the taxpayers living abroad under hte radar unknown to taxpayers
Can Domincia afford to pay these bills? is it really necessary to have an Ambassador to the OAS in Washigton whilst paying another in New York ?Can,t we share this cost with other OECS countries as joint Ambassador? Is it necssary to have a resident Ambassador ?Could this appointment not been to visit for OECS meetings at best ?

Did that help create a single job in D A. The unemployed man does not have time for this crap. He wants a job to feed his family. That is the issue.

“Hubert J. Charles, has been recognized for his “exceptional leadership in diplomacy and education”.

Rubbish, just another pile of decaying baloney!

What exceptional leadership in diplomacy and education is Hubert involved into in the United States? I am a Dominican residing in the City of Los Angeles, in the State of California, never before to day have I heard the nane Hubert Charles. Maybe his involvement in Diplomacy only takes place in his sleep, while he dreams of diplomacy.

    What is diplomacy?

Diplomacy is the art, and practice of conducting negotiations between nations: that person involved must be skilled in handling, and resolving problematic affairs without arousing hostility. In that case if Hubert is so good at what he does, perhaps he should be Ambassador to Venezuela, where he should be negotiating with the dictators of Venezuela to relinquish Aves island (Bird island) to our people and country to which the island legitimately belong!

I do not remember that Dominica is in conflict with any nation in the world, besides if Dominica is about to go to war with any nation on earth, that issue would perhaps have to be resolved in the United Nations. I imagine he might be negotiation with the United State Of America, in order to prevent the United States from invading Dominica, where they intend to take over all of our outdoor pit-holes, filled with you know what!

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahah!

It is all about politics, election time is drawing near, so all of this uesless talk about great work is to influence the mind of the gullible people of Dominica. An ambassador job involves negotiating with investors to go to invest into the country of the ambassador also you know.

How many investors has Hubert sent to Dominica, perhaps if he succeeded by influencing one investor to go to Dominica, we may have heard of him before today. All of these so called ambassadors are political clones of the Labor Party living off the blood of the Dominica taxpayer. Many Dominicans have been deported back to Dominica from the United States, I am sure there may be circumstance where Diplomatic representation may be needed; I wonder how many times have Hubert showed up at a single immigration hearing, such are the job of an ambassador.

We are not impressed, its all political!

This is a vain attempt for Charles to redeem himself from gross incompetence. This guy did not achieve anything as president of the college- except he pontificates well, and since his diplomatic appointment, we have heard nothing of him until today. This is not an accomplishment by my standards. These are thing you do as part and parcel of a wider effort to build a wider sustained cooperation with the peoples of the UNITED STATES. The big question here is, what has Charles accomplished as a whole?

I am only hearing of this guy today, now and while reading this article, I knew of him at the Dominica Grammar school and working in Africa, its a waste of state resources in paying these guys salaries, no value for money with all these Ambassadors located all over and now we are asking public officers to accept 0%, 0%, 0%.

CIA, can you please tell us or explain to us the job of an ambassador stationed in a foreign country? Could you also name one ambassador of any country whom you have heard publicly stating his/her achievement(s) ? He/she is only required to report to the government of the country he/she serves in the foreign capital where he/she is posted, not to you or I. please be informed before posting silly comments like that. If you were a goat I would never eat your head.

What has Charles done to get this award? He only meets and talks to supporters of the government in DC.

Can the ambassador outline his accomplishments since he arrived in DC? This award is a joke Mr. Charles and you know that. Why did you send that story to DNO?
