Sisserou award recipient Dr. Hendricks Paul doing well

Dr. Paul’s daughter, Nausima, accepted the award on his behalf.

Months after being involved in a vehicular accident prominent medical practitioner Dr Hendricks Paul is said to be doing well.

That’s according to Dr. Paul’s daughter Nausima Paul who received the Sisserou Award of Honour on his behalf at the Parade of Uniformed Groups which was held at the Windsor Park Stadium on Monday.

On September 11, Dr. Paul’s vehicle plunged almost 500 feet into a precipice in the Castle Comfort/Giraudel area and he was stuck there for hours.

He was transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he underwent medical treatment.

Prior to that incident Dr. Paul had suffered a stroke.

His daughter told Dominica News Online (DNO) that her dad is “doing alright”

“My dad is doing alright and is probably at home watching or listening,” she said.

She said she is very proud of him for receiving such a high award.

“I am very proud of my father today and not only that, I was proud of him before,” she stated.

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, in his address delivered at the parade, described  Dr. Paul  as a man who
has made a tremendous contribution to Dominica’s development, and someone who, “stayed  among us and with us, to help improve our healthcare system in our country.”

Congrats to you Dr. Paul! Charlo, why didn’t you also bestow an award on one of our young female student from Paix Bouche? I vex with Skerrit for not asking you to do so. Anyways enough on these awards; It’s Christmas time and let’s remember Matthew 1:21, She will bear a son, and you shall call his name jesus

He remained in Dominica and contributed greatly. He could have migrated and become a DAASAPORAN! Congratulations! For many years he refused his consent for nomination for an award for meritorious service to Dominica. It is good that he accepted an award this year.

Dr. Paul was flown to Barbados for treatment for his facial injuries after being hit by falling rocks while he was being pulled up the hill by paramedics to the ambulance.

Happy to see that a true patriot in every sense of the word is being recognized. This man gave 30 plus years of his life, doing something he loves so dearly. He could have gone abroad, but being the “roots man” he is he stayed home and worked for his country. Simplistic in his entire being. I too, am grateful that he gave me my introduction into medicine…words cannot express my gratitude!

Congratulations to you Dr. Paul, you truly deserve it sir! You sure have saved a lot of lives and you should have been recognized 10-15 years ago. Sad that we had to wait until you could not come to receive your award to honor you. In the same token we also need to recognized national heroes like seco. What are we waiting on? Let’s not wait until he is sick for someone to come and receive it on his behalf.

Congratulations all in order Dr. Paul, our surgeon, our hero in surgery and medicine on a whole. I am proud of you and always will be. All doctors who have passed under you honor and love you. You have impacted on each of our lives. You have always been right, if Dr. Paul said so then it was so…..We respect you. Your contribution to Dominica has been paramount. Your work as a general surgeon is equal to none. You operated on everything to improve the health and quality of life for many. We miss you sooooooooo much at PMH. Your absence makes the place empty!
I pray for you. I pray for your family. I pray that the God of Isaac, Abraham and Jacob will be with you, will cause His face to shine upon you and give you peace. I pray that if you have not given your life totally to Him, that you will now in the name Jesus His son. the best gift you could ever receive is that of everlasting life…you deserve God’s best and that is salvation and eternal life. I LOVE YOU Dr. Paul.
