Dr. Lennox Honychurch to receive nation’s highest award

Dr. Lennox Honychurch will receive the Dominica Award of Honour

The cabinet of Dominica has decided to bestow the nation’s highest award, the Dominica Award of Honour, on local historian Dr. Lennox Honychurch on November 3.

This was announced by Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit.

“I’m pleased to announce that Cabinet has taken a decision to bestow on Dr. Lennox Honychurch, the Dominica Award of Honour, our country’s highest award,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.

The Prime Minister said the award will be fittingly bestowed on Dr. Honychurch on November 3rd, the anniversary of our 40th year Dominica’s independence.

“I have great regard, respect, and admiration for Dr. Honychurch and his commitment to Dominica and I am pleased to be part of a Cabinet that took the decision to recognise his efforts and contributions,” Skerrit stated.

Isnt that the guy who had the whole world calling our Kalinago Indians Caribs for decades? Until the Kalinagos themselves came and told us to stop? A lot of the time this man makes up “history” as he goes along i believe.

Yep, he delivered Dominic’s history by glorifying the status quo. What do you expect from a man with a PhD from the Oxbridge university system that produced liars telling us that we came from monkeys :).

Congratulations Dr Honeychurch! A well deserved award long time in coming

Hello and good evening my people. This honor should go to people who delicates their life to our country not to someone who moved to Barbados where he’s a citizen and their historian. I know my Honychurch have contributed to our country but he moved to Barbados who just stole one our biggest foreign contributor to our economy.

Tony, we feel your pain , but we feel that your language is inappropriate and out of maturity. If you want to blame anyone for the disappearance of Ross University in Domininca long before that Skerrit became PM, so go blame Failed Skerrit and his waste of time long rope 18inch bunch of ministers, occupying time and eating our hard earned money, where nothing substantial or in the field of meaningful development has taken place in Domininca or is taking place or even unlikely to take place.
This current Labour Government ought to be ashamed of themselves with their only latest success is to bring Joseph Issac o their circle of failure and corrupt. Anyone who knowingly joins the corrupted Labour govern know that they will be stained for life with fingers pointed at them. That is the company JI and others have embraced. You see, we Dominicans are irrelevant and it`s Skerrit and his corrupt Labour government who are enjoying the profit of Dominica. I mean really, 18 Ministers. very…

that is not his fault. DOminica too laissez-fait and careless. That is Dominica’s fault, not Barbados or Honeychurch.

Dr. Honychurch deserves nine of these awards. Such multitalent and dedication is rare. So grateful. Wish we could be there to witness and support.

A truly great and dedicated Dominican. Great honor.

We MUST also listen to him when he speaks wisdom on a number of developmental issues, from conservation to the historical context of civil works and engineering, to historical context of architecture and design, conservation and preservation of our parks, flora and fauna and also our approach to preservation of our tangible and intangible heritage.

Listening and embracing the knowledge of our intellectuals and luminaries is also a great honor beyond measure.

A very commendable Cabinet consideration to honor Dr. Honeychurch with the highest award – well deserved.

Dr. Lennox Honeychurch, esteem son of the soil. One, every Dominican holds supreme among many others and deserves national award on behalf of the people of Domininca. You have earned it sir, and you have carried it thus far that the young, up and coming Dominican sees and acknowledge you as this role model where your knowledge of Dominica is fortified and sealed in the hearts of all of us. Be the one to be the champion for good cause of Domininca as it cries for good governance in pubic service, just like a parent within a well disciplined home cherish and nurture their children to be good, honest and disciplined citizens to respect the Constitution and that we adults, politicians and sitting government conduct themselves rightly to the constitutions and laws of Dominica, with corruption/Bobol not part of this plan. We need to be that champion not to be bias but to comment on what it is. That is how I was raised and that is not what I see within this failed PM & Labour Government. Sad

A great Honour for an outstanding Dominican.
    So well deserved.
Lennox has served his country (and the Caribbean ) with distinction, in many capacities.

Well, well deserved. Much, if not all, of Dr Honychurch’s life has been dedicated to the positive development of Dominica, especially in the areas of history, culture and education. He has made an independent and positive contribution to Dominica using his skills, talents and training.

With DNO “related article” of July 30th, 2012 ( 302 pm) we were informed that Honeychurch would be receiving an HONONARY DOCTORATE from the UWI, everyone was celebrating with congratulations, compare this to the negative reactions towards the P M double DR DR .

Does Mr. Honeychurch have and EARNED doctorate? If he does, then RIGHTLY SO, he has to be called DOCTOR. The Honourary doctorate UWI gave is just that bro, HONOURARY

In the PM’s case he did not earn the doctorate and therefore whether he got two or three, it matters not – HE IS NOT A DOCTOR – in other words, I PA YON DOC TEUR!!!!

PM and others have to earn what is needed. It is not just your name and position that gets you where you are, it is your reputation over a period of time and must be seen to be that role model. Skerrit, sadly is Not a role model and the more here, there and everywhere appears to bestow him with weird acolytates as Ductored, “We love our PM”, sounds like a mafia song and a blind allegiance to me. Skerrit is stained in his political field and as a Prime Minister who has performed and continue to perform oddly. He, Skerrit has brought it to himself and others in professional fields took advantage. And he Skerrit took advantage of the poor, weak with handouts thru the Red Clinic.
He has had strange bedfellows surrounding him, following him and engaged him for their own benefits, only to have this little immature PM feel happy. Here is a lollypop Skerrit, enjoy it, lots more where this came from. So there are clown and mischievous makers who enjoy and or invited to be Skerrit’s…

Well, Dr. Honychurch is also a Dr Dr – except he earned his first one at Oxford University, on a scholarship.

Thanks for that info. But the second one does not entitle him to be called doctor. Nor does the two that the PM was given. These are just honours

Joseph John, can you really in your right mind compare Lennox Honeychurch with this failed Inept Skerrit? Are you for real? Your merits are what you are, what you have done, in life and for this failed country of ours. and yes, you are so right we will and continue to: “everyone was celebrating with congratulations, compare this to the negative reactions towards the PM double DR DR”. What Skerrit`s carries is not really of his own professionally as relates to his output and management of our country. We question his ability to be a Prime Minister, he has failed us and our Domininca. Skerrit will continue to receive negative reactions, because his wprk has not been credible, too many Boobolistc issues and many questions are still out there. Skerrit has to earn his merit, it is not handed down. Too many questionable deed stained him and follow up . Skerrit must Go.
So yes Joseph John we have compared this to the negative reactions towards your PM, regardless if single or double. He…

Hmm everything in Dominica has gone down to drain level…nothing classy anymore. Gone are the days when this announcement would be made by the Head of the Public service, the Secretary to the Cabinet. Highly classified information released couple days before November 3rd. The popularity King taking all the technocrats role to keep fame. Dr Dr Popularity King, is striving to remain Popular while comprising protocol and standards.

Skerrit is severely stained. Please don’t let that bother, go sleep in peace, you , me others are ok. There is no way that Skerrit can take this “ductored” thing that far away from his bedroom. Let him enjoy the fake news.
Let`s bless Domininca and kick this failed Ductored away from our government. All his 18 ministers Must go with him. Go plant dasheen

This is so ironic. Here is a man with an Honorary Phd receiving the highest honour an INDEPENDENT DOMINICA can offer……………….This same Dr also was on stage saying he is mad at Patrick John (“farshay pour Patrick John” ) because of the Dread Act. He only stop his anti Patrick John point of view when his father Ted was murdered by the same dreads. Now Arden Shillingford our first High Commissioner is being ignored. But for the efforts and leadership of Patrick John and Arden Shillingford there would no independent celebrations.
Hon E O LeBlanc is also reduced to the back burner when come to culture. The first Premier of Dominica was the first leader who insisted on recognizing the importance of celebrating our culture.
Our present PM is not be…

Does he still work in Dominica for the Dominica Government ?
Oh no I forgot , he went to pastures anew , BARBADOS.
and all those people wanted to blame Ross for their decision ?
I think Ross should get highest Honour too , they contributed millions and millions
to Dominica over many many years too.
Ok Ok , i dow have nothing against Bimshere .
I prefer being in transit there than Antigua for sure .
