Hundreds of Dominicans from all walks of life assembled at Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church in Pointe Michel on Friday afternoon to bid final farewell to media icon, Ferdinand Frampton.

Frampton passed away last week.

Fr. Herman Sharplis, who delivered the homily, described the late Frampton as “a media legend” who lived “a full life”.

“He did it his way with God…he gave a life of service with joy,” Fr. Sharplis said.

Frampton, he said, was articulate, precise and very hospitable and a man with a big heart.

“He lived his life for others and gave it his all,” Fr. Sharplis stated.

He called on media practitioners to “research” before  making information public and be “truthful and honest.”

“He has left a legacy in the media…you now as the media needs to continue and be truthful and honest for it will come back and haunt you,” he remarked.

Fr. Sharplis along with Msg Eustace Thomas and parish priest Fr. Peter co-celebrated the funeral mass. They were assisted by Deacon Alvin Knight.

Frampton was laid to rest at the La Salette Catholic Cemetery.

Ferdinand Frampton, rest in God’s love and peace. If you had your way you would be still alive in Dominica serving your country and its people and being among others whom you loved. God had better plans for you and said your work on earth is done, “Come now My child. Take your rest and receive your heavenly reward.” He called you home to rest from your earthly works. You can do much more than you were able to do on earth. In your heavenly spiritual world your prayers are more effective for your beloved Dominica, family and friends. You will also ensure that one day all who love God and people as you did will join you in His Eternal Glorious Kingdom of Bliss. O Happy Day!
Once again, my heartfelt sympathy to his family and associates. He has passed-on but not forgotten. God bless all of you and continue to give you strength as you mourn your beloved one. My prayers are with you.
I have recorded his name and, if the good Lord wills, life, health and strength permitting, in November, the Month of the Holy Souls, I will place his name in the Book of Life in Church in Toronto. He is a step ahead of us.

We all should try to live a life of example so that after we pass, our folks will say “He really was a nice guy”. I listened to the funeral service on the radio, and Fr. Sharplis made me cry. Mr. Frampton were an example to me and maybe many others. Ferdina is a photocopy of you. May she and your family be comforted. The Most High God will be there for them.

Mr Frampton will be long remembered as an icon in radio broadcast. He was always fun to listen to as we grew as kids in the 70’s. He had a great sense of humor. When you talk DBS, the name of Ferdinand Frampton must resonate. We thank his family for sharing this great but humble man with us Dominicans. His legacy in media will always be with us.
