The streets of Marigot were transformed into a mini carnival complete with drums and revelers on the weekend, as the final Miss Dominica 2014 contestant, Tourence Dorsette, was launched.

Actually, Dorsette broke a long  standing legacy of not having a representative coming from Marigot to compete in the pageant.

“The queen show committee is quite pleased to have a contestant from Marigot participating in this year’s pageant. Tourence has broken the legacy of the absence of a contestant from Marigot in the Queen Show,” Chairperson of the Queen Show Committee, Romualda Hyacinth, said.

She called for other contestants from the area to come on board, “every year, and we hope that Tourence has open the door for many more ladies from Marigot and the neighboring villages of Wesley and Woodford Hill to participate in the national event.”

Tourence’s father, Goodwin Dorsette, who delivered a few remarks during the ocassion, said his daughter began taking part in pageants at primary school and recently added a new crown to her collection as the reigning Miss Marigot Ambassadorial.

He had a few words of caution for her.

“Be humble, it’s godly, but sometimes it can be silly, so be mindful because we live in a world of imperfect people,” he stated.”So as you go forward, be true to yourself, I believe that there is nothing you have to hide, for you have lived a very open life and you have carried yourself very respectfully.”

For her part, Tourence stated that pageants had always been on her mind and informed the residents of Marigot, who came out to support her that they have chosen someone who will “represent your interest proudly.”

Tourence Dorsette is fully sponsored by Dominica Petroleum Company.

She will be officially sashed later this week.

The Miss Dominica Pageant will take place on February 23.

In all the girls in Miss Dominica 2014. Tourence or Francine is the only two I can see that is potential queens. I’m not saying the rest is bad. They all pretty but when it comes to quality I see it in the two of them

    “Be humble, it’s godly,…..]

DNO, is that a typo on your part ie the godly part or did the guy really say that taking part in the Queen show is godly?

If he did say that, then can somebody explain to me how taking part in a Carnival Queen show is a godly thing?

Since when does God take part in carnival and its various diabolisms?

What is wrong in saying that being humble is Godly. I don’t think that the person said that being a carnival queen is Godly. Being HUMBLE is Godly.
