Former Prime Minister, Patrick John, has returned to Dominica, with his wife Desiree, after receiving medical attention in Martinique.

John departed Dominica via air ambulance in early January, one day short of his 79th birthday for the French island for medical care for a heart ailment.

While in Martinique, he also had surgery on his right knee.

On his arrival in Dominica, he was transported, via ambulance, to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he will continue to undergo further medical care.

John, who is Dominica’s first Prime Minister, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital on November 29, 2015, and was discharged on December 30.

He was again taken to the institution on January 3 after he complained of shortness of breath.

I hope the Government did pay for it. Patrick John is our first PM & the one who led us to Independence. I grew up with Patrick John always active in Roseau. I may not agree with everything he stood for but respect is deserved and I wish him well & a speedy recovery.
