A former Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in St. Lucia, Victoria Charles-Clarke has been named a new judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in Dominica, online news source St. Lucia News Online (SNO) has reported.
Her appointment begins on September 26, an official from the Legal and Judicial Service Commission in Saint Lucia told SNO on Wednesday.
SNO reported that the former DPP “is passionate about reforms in the justice system and this is one of the main reasons why she wanted to pursue a career at the Caribbean Court of Justice or elsewhere.”
SNO also reported that Charles-Clarke served as DPP in St. Lucia for 12 years. Before that, she was magistrate at District Courts in Saint Lucia from 1992-1997, and later became the registrar of the Supreme Court and served almost three years in that position. In 2002, she was appointed DPP and remained in that position until her retirement in March 2016.
Charles-Clarke is the wife of Dominican, Cecil Clarke.

Welcome to Dominica good lady. Three bits of advice for a quiet life in our country:
– don’t cross swords with Roosevelt Skerrit or his henchman.
– grant a judicial review whenever requested.
– grant bail whenever requested, especially where it concerns the drug Barons.
Do this and you will sail to your retirement without a storm.
