Dominican music pioneer, Gordon Henderson, will be receiving a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the Caribbean Music Awards to be held in Paris, France on October 8, 2016.
The event is in its 10th year and this year it is being presented in a new format with one category, “The Lifetime Achievement Award” which will be given to a number of different artistes and genres from various countries in the Caribbean.
In past years, artistes were awarded for their musical works over the previous year in varied categories such as best album, best single and a series of other bests.
Henderson has expressed delight in receiving the award.
“It’s always a tremendous encouragement to be awarded for one’s achievements,” he told DNO. “I wish to thank all those who assisted along the way. The journey has never been solo”.
The Caribbean Music Awards is the brainchild of the P2M Association presided over by Mitch Zeline, a radio personality from Martinique and a frequent attendee of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival. The association also operates an Internet radio (P2M radio) which promotes all forms of Caribbean music.
The award will be given in the form of a trophy called the “Dynamitch” named partly after the founder and President of P2M.
Henderson is also billed for another distinction in New Jersey, USA on September 24, 2016.
Other artistes to receive the award are:
-Jacques De Kera,
-Sylvanise Pepin
-Anthony Gussie
-Luc Leandry
-Jean-Luc Algiers
-Josseline Varane
-Phil Control
-Bago Balthazar

Congratulations and well deserve, to a true legend, son of our soil. Like the say’… give jack his jacket, and ceaser what is due ceaser, Life is short, and as a result, they are giving Gordon his Flowers while he is alive, all over, except in our beloved Island his award is stuck in the pipe line. Wink! wink! Did i hear some one say, F/ P. we love our own while they`re alive, But love them better when they`re Gone. At least so we say.
Big up to Gordon. “A prophet is never honored in his own land.” Keep making Dominicans proud. Your official honor in Dominica will be coming soon; till then know that you are honored and appreciated in my and many other Dominicans’ eye. Congratulations again and keep up the great work.
Keep the flag flying, Gordon.
Congratulations to Gordon on his achievement. It is well deserving for one who has worked hard in the music industry especially in the promotion of Cadence Music.
Gordon, a prophet is never welcome in his own land. Better things are indeed coming your way after the shoddy treatment meted out to you by our very own.
Congratulations to you, well deserved.
What a big shame Dominica!!!!!!!!!!
Gordon Henderson, our music icon has been VICTIMIZED by authorities for expressing his views on pertinent issues in his land of birth. Almost deemed PERSONA-NON-GRATA.
Last Year, in 2015, the Dominica Festival commission (DFC), recommended that Gordon should receive an award for his dedicated, consistent work in the music business. He was klisted to receive that award. Just to know that childishly, someone in “Bigger authority” decided that gordon’s views are not in sync with the ruling DLP Govt and therefore should be blocked, disbanded, prevented from receiving any award or to perform at the 2015 WCMF.
We all know who performed that debasing, arrogant, wicked act. Try but you cannot prevent a good man from being recognized, even in another country. His excellent work is setting him free. Gordon is Dominican to the bone. No evil deeds, by his own Dominican brothers and sisters, will prevent the brother from moving on.
Congratulations to Gordon Henderson.. It gives us great pride to see our nationals excell
