The family of a Chinese national who went missing after an incident at the mouth of the Layou River is offering a reward to anyone who can lead them to him.

Yang Kang’s family on Friday announced that a $5,000 reward will be given to anyone “who finds the body or makes a report to the police.”

The police reported on June 16 that five Chinese nationals were casting fishing nets in the mouth of the river when two became submerged and  encountered difficulty since they could not swim.

Zufu Kun, 60, who resided at Goodwill was fished out of the river in an unconscious state at about 6:20 pm.

He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Kang was reported missing after the incident.

It is not known whether he drowned or not.

As of Friday he was still reported missing and the police have said they have called off a search for him.

Anyone with information is asked to call 285-9575.

It’s a sad case but why would people who cant swim go fishing in such dangerous waters?

I do not find that reward makes much sense. If the man drown and diver and police have been looking for how many days now, hat make think someone can led them to the body. Only if they don’t believe he drown. hummmmmmmmm, now that would be something else.

They should keep on looking beyond the area, soon his body will be floating. Males take a longer time to float than females.
My sympathies to the family and by extension the Chinese Embassy staff. It’s a sad way to loose a family member.
I hope they find the body soon. To the family members be strong, I share your pain.

It is indeed a sad situation, however it is unlikely that they are going to find his body after almost a week. With the change in climate and weather conditions, a lot of big fish are migrating so you are now finding that fishes you would not normally find in Caribbean waters are now very present. It is a hard pill to swallow but it is almost 95% sure that his body may have been eaten by fish.

I have no words for you, except that you should just starve yourself to death. This new item is not about you and your shallow mind. My sympathies to the family of the deceased and missing person/presumed dead.

a diver must take a dive in the area be cause below there is like a clif and a big drop now if u can’t swim the current will take u under. so i am calling on the divers to go down there with ur oxy tank and everything a search for this guy. and i am calling on authorities to put a sign there because even if someone can swim a bit it can happen to them to further more children go there so we really need a sign so it won’t happen again. i remember the toddler who disappeared in the area when he went to bathe.

What are you calling for? Do people dive with oxy tanks? Do you know how deep the area is? Do you know where the body is? Do you now how dead bodies behave after being submerged over time? I suspect not so just keep to condolences and find somebody to blame instead of making yourself and Dominicas look like jack asses.

This is puzzling. I do not comprehend it. Was he not drowned or was the accident a deliberate one to cause his death and/or disappearance? May he be found.
