The Rotary Club of Dominica on Monday, September 21, 2015 presented €2,180 (Euro) or EC$7,000 to Santony Lazare of Rosalie, to cover part of the cost of his air ambulance service to travel to St. Lucia.
Lazare sustained severe broken bones to one of his legs while trying to escape from the raging floodwaters of TS Erika. He also lost his house and suffered for three days before being found and taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
President of the Rotary Club of Dominica, Annie Edwards in making the donation said that, “The Club was very pleased to be associated with such a worthy humanitarian gesture.” The request was made to the Club to help save Lazare’s leg and the Club did not hesitate to offer some assistance. The Government of Dominica met the remaining cost of the airfare.
Health and Disease Prevention is one of the prime focal points of Rotary International.
The donation was accepted by Doreen Fabien, Hospital Facilities Manager at the Princess Margaret Hospital, who worked tirelessly to ensure that Lazare received the special care he needed.
The Government of St. Lucia and the Rotary Club of St. Lucia will take care of Lazare while in St. Lucia.
The Rotary Club of Dominica wishes Lazare complete recovery from his leg injury.
DNO please tell me what is wrong with the whole truth. I am appalled that DNO or whoever is reporting here has deliberately left out the persistent and hard work of Doctor Thomson Fountain. It was the relentless effort of Dr Thomson Fountain that First initiated and saw this humanitarian gesture materialize. I would think that responsible and fearless reporting would give credit where it is due. This is not to marginalize the noble effort of the rotary club and thee others who help Mr Lazare . Bondieur it was initiated and coordinated by doctor the UWP also helped
I wonder what it is that DNO is afraid off. Is it because Fountaine is a politician? So what the truth is the truth and that should not change just because DNO doesn’t ha. If we are talking about building a new Dominica we must dispose of this hypocrisy everywhere and the news media must be at the forefront. We cannot build or rebuild on lies, hypocrisy, slander and divisiveness. Give credit where it is and stop hypocrisy
Nice job Rotary club, I hope mr lazare gets better and in good health, thanks rotary club
Kudos to you, Rotary Club. I’m certain Mr. Lazare is more than grateful.
