Jamaica dancehall artiste, Tommy Lee Sparta, who was denied entry and detained in Dominica has been deported.

He left Dominica at about 5:30 on a LIAT flight bound for Barbados, then Trinidad and onwards to Jamaica.

He was denied entry into the island on Sunday, arrested and taken to the Marigot Police Station.

He was set to headline a concert on Sunday night.

The ministry of national security has stated he was denied entry out of concerns for public safety.

If it was Skeritt who had brought him down for a pre-election campaign gimmickry the churches would have gone completely Silent.

Election time is come again, as usual the labour party will violate every moral and civil code, and the pastors, priests and hoards of bible thumping hypocritical sympathizers will suddenly chose to remain silent(as usual).

Come on Dominicans. Lots of Jamaicans are happy with the stand taken by the authorities. TL’s attorney is making claim on ground of CSME, however other Jamaican artists have been allowed and have registered great success in Dominica.

Mr Douglas forget about that Tommy fellar and stage a calypso show instead. Have all the roadmatch kings for the past 10 years in a compition and you will see how profitable it will be. It is calypso time now, not dance hall time. I keep wondering why you are so hell bent in bringing this fellar here.

Musings of an average mind on the TLS matter…

Ok .. forget about the pastors for a second .. cuz there were no pastors shackling TLS, There were no pastors denying him entry … The action was taken by the state.. and the reason they gave is ” national security”
    Problem :

1st stage .. TLS denied access.. – every state believe it or not has sovereign control of it’s borders … no matter what the treaty of Chaguaramas says and they retain the right to deny or allow entry.
TLS response : Mi na go leave here tonight !

2nd Stage : TLS refuses to obey an immigration order
State response: Detain and proceed to deport… Reasonable and expected action on the part of the state.

Stage 3: TLS transported to detention center.. to await deportation …

In my mind … No crime has been committed and TLS has not been charged, his detention, albeit at a police lockup is a matter of convenience..

The request for legal representation becomes a moot point since he has not been granted entry and not charged .. So “a la Snowden” he is not subject to criminal proceedings by the state and conversely not entitled to legal representation …

The hue and cry about Chaguaramas and Caricom Citizen is a red herring … ask the Jamaicans about 10 – 1 = 0

Resolution : TLS Should have boarded his aircraft and left the state as directed, then after consultation with his legal team determine whether or not there was a case to be heard at the CCJ or otherwise regarding wrongful denial of entry.

Last year when a young man was coming to Dominica with a fire arm and 95 rounds of ammunition, we were told by the then Minister of National security who is now the President that we should not panick. The gentleman was simply coming to get his child who lives in Dominica. They did not see him as a threat to national and public safety at all. And Tommy Lee is? I mean give me a break people!

    February 25, 2014

Firtsly, if this gentleman was from Antigua, Grenada or Canada he would have been deported just the same. The issue is not “a Jamaican artist” or “an artist” the issue is what the man stands for. He was arrested in the interest of public safety people -that is the safety of all -christians and non-christians alike. Interestingly if he was allowed entry and something had happened we would be blaming the same authorities and asking why they did not do something IN ADVANCE.

Secondly, I hear talk of war between Jamaica and Dominica. Ha! I spent some time in Jamaica and recently returned home late last year and up to that time all i hear in jamaica is “What! where you from? Oh Dominica Republic? but you dont speak like them?” and them i would have to launch into an explanation of where I am from for the 1000th time. Jamaicans does not appreciate we the smaller caribbean islands. They do not embrace our cultures and hesitate to even think of travelling to the Caribbean neigboring islands so i dont know what we are talking about “war”.

Thirdly, have we ever stopped to think that Jamaica was perhaps happy to have this man away for a while. According to a some of my Jamaican friends, they don’t want him either because of the violence and dirty lyrics he sings. They have had enough. And we want him? So now we accepting other people rubbish?

Fourth, when gospel/christian artist come here, they do not sing dirty, violent lyrics and neither are they a threat to security here.

Now tell me who is more narrow-minded, backward and ignorant:those who wanted him here and are criticizing the authorities for being proactive, or those of us who can analyze the issues in an informed way?

I am sure that if we invite a well-reputed artist from overseas to our shore, having done PROPER research on the person, there wont be a problem.

Good job Government and people of Dominica. Next deny entry and arrest any atheist the or non-believer entering the country. Wait, you have to arrest the Obeah man and woman first. But then again they go to church, you cannot do that.
My point is sin is sin. You cannot pick and choose which of God’s laws you to accept and which you are going to ignore. It we are going to proclaim that we are a God-fearing nation, let it show everyday. All those religious groups should not wait until a controversial Jamaican artist come to its shores.

As you are aware we leave in droves because we hate our own Island, Government, and each other. To the concerned Christians why not pray for him instead of treating him in the way you did this was inhumaine and you need to ask god for forgiveness.

Thank God opposition and prayers won, even from afar. I believe that my Holy Water from afar also assisted. This is proof that God really hears, listens, take notes and acts.
It is said, “God governs the world but prayers govern God.”
When we pray, we must do so confidently, patiently and leave the rest up to God. Just lay it at the feet of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He will do what He has to do in his own good time.
As the words of a religious song: “He knows what to do and He knows when.”
Praise be to God who is in control and who protects us from something worst than death. Nothing is lost where God is concerned.
All things work for good to those who love God. Every good and perfect gift comes from above, The Father of Lights. Oh yes He cares! I know He cares!
God bless Dominica. God bless D/can authorities and nationals. God bless all those who rallied to prevent this man from performing in Dominica. Your efforts worked!
Immigration Officers are to be commended from freeing Dominica from what none could ever fathom except God, if this man were allowed to perform. God is so good! Our God is great! He really spared Dominica and nationals. Thank you Lord!

The Government has been hijacked by the Evangelical community, the most powerful lobby on the island. They started with the stupidity of renaming the mountains for purely superstitious reasons. Now they are flexing further, soon to dictate to us what personal priorities we should pursue. We are already in trouble because politicians are only concerned with votes and that block of votes will surely bring some misery on those of us who believe that religion is about choice. The mixture of “church and state” is toxic but we are already trapped.

I honestly think this is a political move. Christians, be wise. Who is at the front of this?
I believe the priest influenced the p.m to do that. That is to make the christians believe that the p.m. supports christianity. Do not be fooled. you know where the priest and the p.m. are from and you know what these people are famous for.i look forward to seeing the priests and pastors come together to talk against all the crookedness going on in the country and particularly in the govt,. IT’s wonderful to see that Dominica is still a nation that can defend it’s population in such a way, people may not want to acknowledge this but the vibrations that the system wants to give them via this singer is not something that they will be pleased with in the future. So thanks to the Great Jehovah God via the Messiah Jesus Crist for this and pray for this singer so his mind can be open to understand the truth of the world system and turn away from the negative vibes that he is giving out.

I still don’t understand why he couldn’t have performed.I think the real reason they did not want him to perform is because of the type of music he sings…I am not a fan of his music but heard some of his songs and not all of them are preaching violence… He actually sings reggae as well..what they should have done is ask him to sing the songs that do not instigate violence..I thought the lord said don’t judge… I’m pretty sure if it was and artist like rihanna or lil Wayne they would have allowed them but these artist are not different they sold their soles and put up evil signs during they concerts… I’m not picking sides don’t get me wrong but the way the authorities went about handling this was not right… What if it was one of our local artist who was denied entry in another country island… Think about that… Now that’s not a good look…why didn’t they deny bounty killer from performing in Dominica at creole in the park.. 58. The Comedian Show
    February 24, 2014

Who are the winners and losers of this Show? Let’s start with losers first.
1.The biggest loser in this saga no doubt the religious body. They were once again used by the DLP to display their spiritual biasness. To hear Pastor Joseph Benjamin use the denial to say God answered their prayer is just laughable. Now that they found out it was a political matter which has legal implications I wonder if their victory was dampened. They simply remind me of those 911 bombers that did their thing in the name of God and that to me has cast doubt in the minds of people.
    2. Dominica and Dominicans were the another set of losers. They (the government) have embarrassed us abroad and have made us look like a set of Dummys.

    3. The only winner in this saga will be government attorneys. Look out for SC to make millions from this one. They are already happy because they know money is coming their way.

      February 25, 2014

be very careful how you speak against the men of God – this is no joke. We will seek spiritual intervention. we are taking back and taking a stance. No more will we seat back and let Satan, His agents, take control. God have not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Are you people for real? Do you really believe that Tommy Lee begged to come to Dominica to perform? Hehehehehehehe

He is an entertainer people!!!! He couldn’t care less about Dominica. He was invited to come there and perform and was offered a payment that he found suitable. Otherwise he would not have visited this country in his life time under any circumstances.

You all acting like he came there asking to permanent residency. This is truly embarrassing.

Are you listening to yourself? Take a good look around you, we do not have an international airport, so yes he has to go through Barbados and Trinidad. We are soo dumb sometimes while pointing one finger at a man we have three pointing at ourselves and one at our head and don’t realize it.

Do you really think that he had a choice as to when he could fly? Once he was released from the hospital he would have been turned over to Immigration Officials and Police who would have no doubt proceeded to deport him.

Did you expect them to put him up in a five star hotel until he decides when he wanted to fly?

    • Simply the Truth
      February 25, 2014

One day you will find that they were never separate but for the minds of some godless human beings. Those who want it separate must stand before God for their judgment. Just think what will happen to their souls on that day?
