Dominica’s Health Minister, Julius Timothy, has been taken to Martinique by air ambulance after he collapsed on Wednesday afternoon and was admitted to hospital.
Timothy was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) on Wednesday afternoon and reports indicate he may have suffered a stroke.
He was taken to Martinique early Wednesday evening from the Canefield Airport.
Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, said Timothy complained of numbness in certain parts of his body before he was rushed to hospital. “I was able to communicate with him, so at least he is alert and aware of his surrounding,” he said. “In due course the medical professionals will give an update on his progress.”
He called on all Dominicans to pray for Timothy
DNO was reliably informed that at the time of him being taken to Martinique Timothy was unable to speak.
DNO will continue following this story and will publish information as it becomes available.
You did touch my breast in prayer and now I return you the same.
Get well.
I sympathize with the minister n his recent illness ad I wish him a speedy recovery. My concern, however, is this: I PHM not fit or adequate enough to accommodate the Minister of Health, how equipped is it t accommodate the rest of us Dominicans? Does this mean that the hospital is not equipped enough to deal with a stroke?
Canefield is only some 56 miles from Fort de France, as the crow flies. If the French medical facilities are that superior why don’t we seek to join them rather than persevere with our own inadequate service under the pretence of independence.
We need the Dr Julien initiative to continue. Why have the french ortho surgeons stop coming to Da. We need their servives badly.
Dear Uncle Julie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
From all your family in England x
May be the bird flu.
Ok guys thats what the Minister did. He was in charge of PMH and he abandoned it, the poor man so scared, ran to Martinique..
Where did I go wrong DNO? you can delete my comment but not my opinion, please send the comment to my email highlighting where I went wrong.
i visit dno couple times a week to know what is going on in da, depressing as it is stuff happens but we as dominicans are still evolving . .looking forward to a better future.but this story aches me!!i am soooooo mad.not mad timothy is sick . .but mad that the immediate remmedy was to airlift him.what does that say to our system?goood for poor, less fortunate, no family with money,no political ties, no connection to have a health loan from bank . .Nothing.we are left to die, hope and pray!!there is a lesson in this . .and time and time we have just accepted that this is the way it is!WELL i am saying nooooooo.government . .for the people . .has to do better!!our heathcare has to do better!!
Politics aside I know this guy back in my hood as a kid bigger boy than i was growing up.He ought to have been 14 yrs my senior. After leaving for Stlucia in the 70’s did not see him for yrs. We come from the same hood but never saw eye to eye. Nuh said. Politcs aside rhe bro suffered a stroke am not informed niether you about the degree of his CVA. Was he suffering from Hypertension most likely. Now I /we wish he makesa good recovery as a human to another.
I wonder what his former boys are saying behind close doors? Knowing these suckers they must be………. but htis is physiology increase blood pressure plus unhealthy life style = stroke.
years ago he played much soccer then later picked up walking. However he lacked the sticktoitness continued eating bad foods drinking so this is the issue of aging and living badly. God ,Budda, Allah, Mohameed,Marx, stalin, Jehovea take your pick has nothing to do with his recovery or deteriation.
god is good. all dem hypocrites and bad mind who against timothy, BURN IN HELL! A man like timothy who has contributed to the development of young people in dominica and that you all saying? god bless tim tim. god bless dominica and all haters and ignorant souls, BURN IN HELL
But I do understand Dominicans the man is selling medical insurance to the public so u mean he doh have for himself? Give me a break. When Sukie had his heart attack his family did not airlift him to Martinique? So what is the difference” Is not the state that send him, so why Mr Timothy family canot airlift him toooooooo? The nurses and Doctors in PMH have to change there attitude towards patients, and not the government. The PM not working in the hospital. The employees are so have when machines are not working? They malhandle the equipment is Government you hurting?
speedy recovery to him hes human as well
GET WELL
“At the time of HIS being taken to Martinique…”. Believe it or not, that is grammatically correct.
In the middle of all this you choose to nitpick at grammar…UNBELIEVABLE!!
My DA people are special!!
i am so angry and disappointed reading alll these comments no one cared to mention that the state could use that opportunity to improve care and expertise in dominica.import modern equipement to the hospital and employ and train persons to use them effectively.everyone who gets sick in dominica do not have luxury of being airlifted!!i do not wish bad health and death on no one.please ask my dear friends how many persons had died in dominica for the past couple years due to misdiagnos, and ill equipped healthcare system and doctors who really don’t care or rather does nothing to improve.we settle for whatever . . no one health and care worth mor than the other . .no one
Have you ever tried to sue a doctor in Dominica for malpractice? Ha, ha,ha. You want a death certificate? Easy, who is to say natural causes is unnatural? Carcon, for a poor soul is pray to God is all I can do.
When the patriots were putting pressure on the Skerrit Labor Government in an effort to stop the building of the President’s Palace, where were you.
I do not wish to criticize you or disappoint you but even in countries where there may be better doctors and equipment, some people still die and some remain ill for a prolonged time. You should be aware when people’s time is up, it is up. Some people have been cured in Dominica; some have not; likewise in other countries. Therefore, just pray for the health and welfare of Mr. Timothy. Be positive.
so sad to hear about Mr Thimothy.I wish him a speedy recovery. To his friends and family I live next door to the hospital. If I can help in a way or the other by accommodation or anything else please let me know.
You are a kind, hospitable and good hearted Dominican.
first i don’t wish bad health on no one.at least mr timothy has the luxury of being airlifted to martinique and not be subjected to be mis diagnos by any doctor in domninica.now here we are . . .the question is what about the other perons who don’t have that luxury?rather left to the mercy of fate, an ill equipped hopital!!! doctors and a few nurses who made an oath , parctice against the true meanin everyday.persons reading this and to think this is political, pray that friends and family who get sick don’t have any serios illness.i am having first hand!! experience
They will die there and no one cares. That’s how we come.
Just the hopelessness of the whole thing! Seems to me that feet are dragging so severely concerning proper health facilities in Dominica. Obviously it is not a priority as long as Martinique exists.
Who making bling decisions for us all nah! Hospital first, education next – state palace last. Even Minister of Health running from Gentle Rest.
Get well soon
Get well soon Bro!!
Labour Government, you built a state of the art state house, and your surporters cant even have proper health care cause they are mostly poor, tell me how many of them get to go on a helicopter EH ?? So they stay back and god bless there soul…..
I WOULD NOT HAVE SAID IT BETTER…It’s in their interest to keep them poor.
I am very sorry for Mr Timothy and hope he recovers fully. It is very interesting that he was immediately flown to Martinique. This means that there is absolutely no confidence in the Princess Margaret hospital!! If our PM were to be taken ill he would be immediately flown out of the island. We are all human beings regardless of what we do surely this highlights the need for a state of the Art hospital here in Dominica. I also am reading about the plight of the injured young footballer Prince who people say also needs to be flown off the island for medical attention and how many more are waiting??
I wish Mr.Timothy a speedy recovery but I had my questions too. Why was he airlifted, couldn’t they take care of him at the PMH or as one person wrote don’t the trust the doctors there. I am not against anyone getting the best treatment possible but if he could be treated here and they send him to Martinique, that don’t send a good message for the rest of us in Dominica. I think that is telling us, once we can afford it, get out of Dominica for our health treatment run away from the PMH. Again that is just what I am getting from that, I might be totally wrong but if we really have to seat and think of it, there are a lot of questions.
For a health Minister who is always on the media talking about the health services in Dominica’s first option is to travel for medical care overseas sends a strong message whether it come from his own pocket or not. He knows firsthand what goes on there and the lack of supplies, machineries and expertise. Just below this article, we saw another article which says that patients awaiting surgery can now breathe a sigh of relief as supplies have arrived. Come on people, Dominica needs an importation of overseas expertise to come and open up a medical centre in Dominica, Concessions are available for this and this should be looked into. The airline tickets we pay can go be circulated right here in our economy.
“Parl Rep” aka JulieTimothy I wish you speedy and full recovery. News about your illness broke my very heart. You are a great Patriot Dominican; a true star amongst us. Hardworking, charming, down to earth and intelligent and philanthropically Charitable.
We thank you for being of great help to Newtown especially the young Footballers. YOU sponsored the ACS Rocks football team of Newtown and also used your resources to be the first and most successful sponsor of the (REAL original) ACS NEWTOWN JUVENILE FOOTBALL ACADEMY under the leadership of coach Joffre Faustin who freely volunteered their skills, resources and time for NEWTOWN YOUTHS.
The Fatima Parishers shall be praying for your improvement in your condition.
A speedy recovery to the Hon. Minister.
I wish you a speedy recovery sir.
Hon. Timothy, I wish you the very best and a speedy recovery.
Our Minister of Health suffers a stroke and has to be flown out for medical care. Is that a sign that we need to improve the healthcare system here? If it was a little marlayway without insurance or financial means they would have to be admitted and take their chances. I hope when Mr Timothy pulls through he really use his personal medical emergency and lack of faith in his own country’s medical/hospital system to push for the much needed improvements and upgrades we need at PMH. Maybe he will do just that….Get well soon sir.
That’s the power of money. I wish him a speedy recovery. I was by the airport at the time and although I am not a fan of him was very empathetic…I felt sad when the helicopter was ascending. But the most embarrassing thing in this situation is that the airport air stripe does not even have lights. That’s an absolute shame!!
If the walking stick of the politically blind only lead them to Mr. Prince’s bank account to donate $15 each, perhaps there would be less time to have him so disgracefully dragged through so much spit.
well well well
All I know, sickness and death don’t pick and choose or respect anyone;so all of you that blablaing and vomitting all your negative political comments regarding the ministers illness instead of saying a word of prayer for his recovery, don’t forget that their is a saying…Today is mine-Tomorrow is yours.
All the best Mr.Timothy.Get well soon.
not everybody have money to go Martinique like you so fix the hospital plz
Lord heal Mr. Timothy, allow him to realize that opportunity to get closer to you Lord, to put all his trust in you in this last and closing days. Amen
sad but that why people save their money to go for treatment care where ever they feel like so stop the talk about he doe stay da he run go.get well soon brother.
I wish you a speedy recovery. The St Alphonsus congregation are all praying for your speedy and full recovery.
We need to think before we criticize. For all those who are bringing politics, did you all even think that with his career and financial success and ultimately access to alternate resources, he and his family made the decision to send him for further medical care sans political help? That he has medial insurance to cover expenses? etc.
Let’s be realistic and not let ignorance overshadow our thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are right, but it is only logical that the government would take care of their own. Don’t take it too personal but this is also a possibility.
Jeeeezzzzzz!!
Just lile they did for Charles Savarin and Maynard etc.
Mr. Timothy has every right to chose where- & by whom he is treated, especially if he has his own means or insurance to pay for it. However, it does not mitigate the fact that his airlift to Martinique does not demonstrate confidence in our own medical services under his remit. I sincerely hope he recovers speedily and fully and that this experience will be an impetus for us to raise our own standards. What value independence if we can not care aequately for our sick?
Sometimes I read comments and I think, we think those of us who write will never have any type of emegencies in our life.
We should not allow politics or rather the party we support or don’t support to consume our very being.
My Good people, we are all human beings. What is happening to the Minister of Health right now can happen to me or you or someone we know in a second or anytime down the road.
People all over the world, travel to get medical care elsewhere many times even in first world countries – depending on the situation and type of medical care required.
Praise God we have a hospital in a close neigbouring island that can deal with the emergencies we may not be able to deal with at home.
Do we know if there was a doctor on staff at that time who could deal with the type of situation the minister faced? Even if he would stay in the hospital? Was a doctor available – I haven’t seen anyone speak of that.
If we do, do we know whether the doctor was available? Attending to another patient? Was in an operating room? On another emergency?
Just imagine that the very minister of Health does not have confidence in the medical services provided at PMH. Who is this reflective of? Me? This tells us hat Werner his family or govt chose o send him overseas it simply means PMH is deficient and ill-equipped. That’s all!
Why do you all people just cannot accept someone who thinks differently from you all? OMG man!
Thanks to his darling wife.
Mr. Timothy, I wish you a 100% speedy recovery. Dominica needs you as we do not have too many good men like you remaining in Dominica. I know you made a political decision that is very unpopular and unwise, however your good to all of us in Dominican, out weighs your political mistake and blunder which I know you are regretting. May the good Lord touch your body as I will continue to pray for you my friend.
May the Lord bless you with a full recovery and get you back home to continue serving our people. From the State of Maryland with Love.
You know peeps, life is something else. This Minister of health had all his time as Minister of Health to fix that hospital. Instead he had other priorities, for he new that if he fell sick he could be airlifted out easily. I say what about the poor people? do they stay and die????
How ironic. The minister of health does not trust the facility he is responsible for. Ta..ta..ta..ta
UNBELIEVABLE.
Sorry to be insensitive but if you had spend 27 million building a state of the art hospital there would be no need to go to Martinique. Priorities.
makes a lot of sense.
God please be at the side of Honorable Timothy and heal him in Jesus name I pray.
Amen
Now….?
get well Mr. Timothy and slow down on the THINGS that you do.
I sat next to the Minister on Palm Sunday at St. Alphonsus. When the person taking up the offering accidentally skipped me, he pulled her back, whispering, “You missed the gentleman.”
In the following weeks, the Hon. Timothy and I have had a couple meetings in his office. We frankly discussed a broad range of hospital-related issues. Naturally we disagree on some things, but earnestly share the same goal of ‘a people strong and healthy.’ At all times he exhibited much enthusiasm and consideration.
Forget about politics. Just pray for the man – as you would want others to pray for you. Here’s hoping that Julius makes a full recovery and continues his good work.
Sam
Dr. Sam: “Forget about politics. Just pray for the man – as you would want others to pray for you.”
Well-said, especially the last sentence.
Godspeed Mr.Timothy, speedy recovery.you are well within your right to do as you please to take all necessary steps to improve your health.i say if u can why not.with that being said Mr.health minister apparently u do not trust the expertise of your ministry…..nothing left to say .
it those not say anything about the fascility in da.i live i the big U S OF A and depend on what u a SUfffuring from not all hospital will have that equipment or that Dr. to help u so what they will do is send u to another hospital with that machine or that DR.SO STOP IT
It is our main hospital you are talking about, not the clinics; though there is not much differnce. So YOU better stop it.
come back quick sweetheart, just as you were and even better. love
Wishing you speedy recovery, Timothy.
Sometimes I wonder Y is everything in D/ca is a political issue? Where r our moral? Gone r the days when we stand n pray for each other in time of Crisis!! No man life is more than the other but the Office once whole can be consider more important!! Because of such office ones hold entitle him/her the benefit of outstanding health care insurance & medical care, which I know its not breaking news to u’ll!!! SO lets on Keep on Praying for Joesyln n Hon Minister Tim!!! May God continue to bless our beautiful country!!!!
My prayer is with Minister Timothy. He remains a health Minister who leads by example. Very health conscious and treats his body well. May he recover speedily and with added determination to face the task of health care in Dominica. Grace & Peace!
The i know that you will be alright. Our God is watching over you and you will be back home sooner than we think.
Jesus Dominicans! Somebody saying get well Mr Timothy and allu disliking d comment? Really??? If it were one of you or your family in the position, I’m sure you would like somebody to say get well soon. Smh! May God’s healing hand be upon you Mr Timothy. The country is praying for you!
Get well soon Mr Timothy. God’s blessings.
Blessings of health and recovery to Mr Timothy. We should never take delight in others sufferings. Today is his you don’t know what tomorrow will be. Now to all the folks who are so concerned about Mr Princes medical condition I commend you. However don’t think of what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. To Lennox Linton and all the other radio and television host now is your time to redeem yourselves. Let’s all come together to host a telethon to raise funds for Mr Prince to facilitate his visit to Martinique to get better care in lieu of his current medical condition. We are all willing to help and are tied at the hands so help us, help Prince, help our island, help our people. I plead the blood of Christ on all my people and hope we will all unite for a common cause. The red, blue, green and liberals. Pappy you are welcome to pledge to Mr Princes medical fund too. I’m sitting here waiting to donate to the cause.
May God grant Mr Timothy a Speedy and complete recovery. Medical Insurance is available to everyone, however, some of us prefer to spend our money on braids, false nails and top up of latest phones. It is all about priorities people.
I wish Mr Timothy a speedy recovery. It is ironic that Mr Timothy is the health Minister and was immediately airlifted to Martinique!! This is very frightening for us Dominicans who obviously would be rushed to the Princess Margaret hospital here and receive medical treatment that is not up to the right standard. We were told recently that there was a lack of anesthetic on the island this is totally unacceptable. Dominica needs a new hospital which is run properly and does not run out of the basic daily drugs. We don’t need a 10 million US dollar abattoir which is at present being built at the old boxing plant in the Layou Valley! as there are not enough animals on the island to be slaughtered in it on a daily basis, we need that money spent on a new hospital!!
Oh No! What terrible news this morning!
Now how they airlift him right away and not the footballer who was on his way to represent the country?
chalk and cheese @ anony
Speedy Recovery Mr. Timothy. A few concerns however:
1. This shows that we have a very weak medical system. Someone collapses, with a stroke or whatever reason, the Princess Margaret Hospital CANNOT deal with it. – news item last week says that the theatre runs out of Anesthesia. What happens if a bus load of people has an accident many of the persons have acute injuries? What Then?
2. The government of Dominica made up of the Prime ministers and his MPs are ALL elected Ministers. They were PUT there by Democracy. I’m not saying that anyone who falls sick on the island should be airlifted. But, the people of Dominica are tax payers just like any where else. Don’t we deserve to have some special treatment?
Special treatment especially HEROES. Like some of the comments said, Our hero/comrade who was the sole survivor in the accident at Pond – Casse wasn’t air lifted. Whether or not his condition was serious or not, if the PM had gotten into the SAME accident, the air ambulance would be called up instantly! We need to protect and support our own.
3. State Palace. The PM built this palace. But guess what, in the next elections he could end up back to square 0. He and his entire squad. Was it necessary to build this facility? Isn’t health care more important? A state of the art Hospital? So many doctors and nurses graduating from CUBA and DSC. Give them jobs. We don’t even have a proper health center in Roseau.
Food for thought!
May God’s healings hands be upon you at this time speedy recovery we are praying for you.
May the Almighty God bless and restore you back to good health. Black men are especially at risk for stroke and heart disease. These conditions are exacerbated by a diet high in sodium and lifestyle. Meanwhile, we all pray for you Tim Tim.
How great you are Almighty God. let your name be praised.
joselyn is an indivual who lives within his means and had no insurance. timothy is a minister who has acquired wealth through his businesses and he also has health insurance. he is capable of flying himself to dubai for help next if he feels like it.
Ok, so we are not likely to see a supplementary estimate or a line item in the next budget relating to this, yes?
Well said my dear..
Why do you people just run your trap. Joselyn does have health insurance which covers him being flown away for medical attention, the issue is those doctors at PMH playing all knowing without a scan at the very least, claiming he is ok when they have no way of knowing the full extent of his internal injuries. If he goes without tellign the insurance he needs to go, sadly the insurance will not cover his medical needs irrespective of what the patient is feeling. What needs to be done is for sports officials, his parents and himself demand a release from those ego trippers at PMH. He definitely needs to be further evaluated. If they don’t the poor lad will have to meet those expenses on his own.
RE Timothy bsuiness man or not he is a minister of goverment and needs a scan so this is the reason he was flown away promplty.
Roz, I am referring to health insurance and not general or life insurance. health is for health, irregardless whether you got sick on the job. If what you are saying is correct, then Dominica is more than backward!
Are you saying a Fireman was not afforded Gov’t insurance? Is it that the contributions are so high that employees are unable to afford gov’t insurance. We need some clarification on how this works, for those of us not living on island.
Insurance policies cover a specific risk. in this case, risk of getting hurt or dying on the job. As for young fire officer, he was not on the job in his capacity as fire officer when he got hurt. His fireman insurance will not cover that.
Good point, but if a minister of health cannot trust his health facility overnight then what is he saying to us?
Heavenly Father, send forth your HEALING BALM to every area of Mr Timothy’s body, allow him to live so that your NAME shall be GLORIFIED…
Tim, May the good Lord touch you and heal you, may you experience true conversion and on your recovery make the best decision which would be in appreciation of being spared your life.
is there some idiot around that goes on and “thumbs down” every single comment that people post wishing the man a speedy recovery? regardless of party colour or whatever, he is a father, son or brother to someone..
In spite of what is said or not said Mr. timothy is a people’s people. approachable, kind and considerate. He is also one of the hard working ministers and another great Dominican son of the soil. We surely wish him well and take the necessary action to ensure that.
Shocking news… You are in my prayers good Comrade. Speedy recovery to you!
Wishes u speedy recovery.get well
I pray that you have A Speedy Recovery, Honourable Minister Timothy.
Wishing you God’s blessing. Get well soon
May the good God be with you sir. As a nation let’s spend time praying asking God to humble our hearts . Life is very short and precious. When we are in a position to help the less fortunate let us always be willing and ready. Our father in heaven is looking. I would like us to take some time to study and meditate on Hebrews chapter 13 verses 1& 2. Thank you Dominica.
This is a wake up call for the Government to realize that we are one, and when one suffer, all suffer. This is also why, we should care for each other and love one another. No one is above sickness. If the minister of health could get a stroke, the other minister have to take note.
Hurry up fix and improve the hospitals. Not everyone cold fly out of the country for medical treatment. We know, a lot of times even though a country have the best medical facilities, people will still die. But at list they know they tried.
May God heal his body speedily, and if no, he will be in the hands of the Lord. All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Without him, we are nothing. PEACE, LOVE AND LOTS OF HEALTH, ALL OF DOMINICA.
God bless you, Mr Timothy. You are a man with a good heart, you have helped others tremendously and God will help you out now. It’s your turn for a mighty good blessing from the almighty. May God bless you and keep you.May he heal your body, from your head to your toes. You are in capable hands. The favor of God is on you. Smile. You’ve help myself and my family very well. Stay blessed. Amen. Jen
May God be with you sir I wish you a speedy recovery and pray that any harm done is treatable in the name of Jesus Amen
Some people just can….. Others cannot.
Wishing you a speedy recovery my brother. Really gave us a shock today, but the good lord will spare you. You will be okay.
Timothy was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) on Wednesday afternoon and reports indicate he may have suffered a stroke.—News Article
A stroke is a big threat to his Life at his age. Nonetheless, I am joining with some of you here, who understand that there is no greater physician than the Man named Jesus; for by His Stripes we are healed.
I pray that our Health Minister, knows this truth and is able to speak the words of acceptance in his mind, so that Jesus will touch him through the hands of the nurses and doctors who will attend to him.
Dear God, let it be Your Will, that Health Minister of Dominica, Mr. Julius Timothy, will return home from the hospital–healed by the Stripes of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen!
i wish u a speedy recovery Mr Timothy, I pray that the lord may shine his light upon you and cover you with many blessings as you fight your illness
BE REAL: There is no country in the world where no matter how poor that government ministers don’t get favoured or special privilege, especially in siyuations like this. They earn it for braving the risks of political struggle and their efforts to move their country forward.
I wish Mr Timothy a speedy recovery.
I wish him well and a speedy recovery. May God assist the doctors in Martinique who will be attending to him to restore him to good health. In Jesus Name I pray.
For his family, keep strong, our prayers are also with you through your anxiety for him. God bless!
Get well soon Timothy
Sometimes I jus wish DNO would disable comments from ignorant and foolish people!! Putting everything aside, he is a human being and I see nothing difficult in wishing another human being the best in such a situation. Where do comments like” I need God’s blessings more than he does” come in??? That comment was not only shocking but shows ow low some people really r!!! I am jus shakin my head. People r giving thumbs down to comments wishing the man a speedy recovery…. Mag way sa!!!!
Tim, Tim, I know you have helped many to travel overseas for medical, and I know you are not a bad and spitful person, God will see you through this difficult time. I was really touch to hear of your illness, I will pray for you and stand with you, it’s not about party it’s about this individual who has a good heart. God bless you and keep you my PR.
At what point are you lazy people going to learn to take personal responsibility? You all just love to depend on government and the milk of human kindness flowing through people’s vein to get by. It is up to you to have medical insurance, to plan for unforseen circumstances. Learn this: Nobody owes you anything! Not even the politicians that want your votes.
Nobody worries about the politicians “that want their votes..” It is those that already have the votes that matter.
It is a sad day indeed when you reduce yourself to calling your fellow black brethren as..”you lazy people..” That is called self-contempt, you better go examine yourself! Since no man is perfect, there is no way you can be perfect either.
As with anyone else, I only wish that he has a speedy recovery. Note, our time here is limited and we never know what will happen tomorrow.
Say something Mr Tom..Right now it’s not about politics, anybody can get a stroke….Let’s pray for the man and stop rejoicing…Shame on you sir…
“Get well soon Julie, god be with you…
Comrade we wish u a speedy recovery! God knows best and he is the greatest physician , their is nothing to hard for God to do. We place you into God hands and we say Lord have way . Amen
Lord, I commit Hon. Timothy into Your hands. You are the greatest of all physicians and the healer of every disease. With You all things are possible, You have ask in Your word, is there anything too hard for me to do? Take full control of his life, in Jesus’ name I prayer. AMEN.
May god look over you and bring you a speedy and full recovery. I join all my fellow citizens in saying a healing prayer for you sir.
Assertive, NOT Agressive!
Wish him well
My Minister, Friend, Padner, Comrade, Father, you are in my prayers and I ask God for your speedy recovery. No one is perfect, God will see you through you still have lots to do for our country Dominica and I pray God give all writes on here double and 100 percent what they write and wish for you.
Yeh right lots to do for himself not country.
Its a good thing is not man that controls God. In your same prayer’ you are blessing and cursing in the same breath. The good book says to bless your enemies.
Dominica is one country where everyone should be as unified in a positive direction. That cannot be achieved if you keep the fires of hatred burning by giving it fuel. Stop the fighting and evil.
It sounds better if you simply wish the minister the best and stop there. But going on to curse others sorts of nullify the prayer. It is better to make sincere prayers a private matter, instead of grandstanding and brandishing it like a loaded weapon.
Dominica is small. Every sick person is known by most, so the effect is widespread. The population is limited so chose your words carefully. Remember. Love is the answer.
baby!!!
Sad news. I wish you all the best.
I guess people like you would not understand that there are certain privileges that government ministers will enjoy that the ordinary individual will not. This may just one of them (ie. specialized medical treatment overseas). Furthermore, I would hate to think that Mr. Timothy or any successful businessman would not have these plans in place in case of such eventualities.
Don’t you think that perhaps Mr. Jno. Hope’s medical condition was a delicate one whereby being air lifted was not the best thing at the time?
Let’s wish both of them well and stop all that speculation and what ifs.
Wow! Some Dominicans have actually arrived at a pathetic state where they ACCEPT that they are at a LOWER class than the governing elite, whom they appointed as ‘humble servants’ and stewards of their welfare.
Getting a bigger salary than the average man is understandable; but stating that a minister life is worth MORE than a FIREMAN who daily put his LIFE and limb at deaths door to save strangers, is pure rubbish.
In reality, the present regime takes more glory in the dead than the living(when it comes to the common man) just see how they are rambling to name objects after the deceased footballers.
One should not make excuses for this insensitive group of political harlots, who view the populace as no more than disposable napkins.
There is no doubt about it, Mr. Timothy as a senior politician genuinely deserves the BEST medical treatment available. Similarly the YOUNG fireman and national footballer (who saved several lives in one day) deserves the best medical treatment too.
Be careful you dont rapture a blood vessel wi with the hatred in your words
this man is capable of buying anything he wants including you. and dont you think that his heirs have the power to make sure their dad has the best in medical care at the snap of a finger? tim tim better of financially than the government so dont FOOL yourself
Your slave talk is rather low on intelligence. The phrase enough money to buy you… it’s evidence that u believe in money more than yourself. PATHETIC> Wake ppls. Money means nothing before the end.
Don’t you mean Joselin Prince?
I agree with you totally that there are certain privileges that government ministers will enjoy that the ordinary man will not. I hope you also know that when God sends rain it falls on everyone house roof top. So is sickness and death and I am glad that that is not down to the government ministers as they would be happy to exempt themselves and pass it on to the ordinary individual. When are we going to call a spade a spade yes ministers got privileges and the ordinary man should have privileges too. Stop this plantation mentality. Instead of a $27,000000 palace a state of the art hospital should be built so that we all as citizens should benefit and it would not be a privilege to the government ministers.
And Timothy’s was not delicate? They both needed scans.
Well with all these prayers I don’t think he’s going to die
God be with you Sir Timothy, get better soon.
you know i don`t associate myself in dominica politic but, on curtain aticles on dno allot of comment have to do with gov`t.one, has to do with red clinic and how i understand it, is that ppl go see the minister for momey. and most ppl are not happy about that, they say the gov`t need to create jobs i`m all for that but ,now, i have a problem i`m reading curtain comment about prince should be able to get speedy care i thought he did and even out of the hospital.don`t u all think if the doctors were not able to do anything they would have send him somewhere else?u all dominicans are to ungratful one minute u all saying thank good he survive in the same breathe something different.the doctors may have seen the help he needs the hospital mite not have the equipment or maybe they can`t help? may the lord take care of you.
Even though this is just a message/sounding board, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation could mean a whole lot you know.
Speedy recovery Mr.Timothy but am waiting to hear Prince is flown out too.
I am in total agreement with your comment.May the Lord have mercy on all the people.
Another stroke? What is the cause of all this? It is not obesity. It is not the diet, because I have known people to be so extra careful about what they eat, are skinny an still suffer strokes. So what then? This is becoming a worry to me.
stress!
Skinny has nothing to do with stroke. The main cause of stroke is high blood pressure and guess what: skinny people have high blood presure too!
Google stroke lots of info .We need to be educated
about our Health. Good idea wish u get all the information
@as i see it, what about high cholesterol, high blood pressure? aneurysm? so many other reasons besides obesity and yes most heart patients are skinny, the fat goes around the heart instead of all over the body where it is visible so dont fool yourself. Before you get suspicious read your biology book.
There are a number of factors that can contribute to strokes….diet, ethnicity, existing medical conditions …are just a few.
Research has shown that individuals of African decent…African Americans, African Caribbean..etc, etc…are very prone to strokes. So we have to be extremely vigilante in monitoring our health even if we believe we are feeling OK.
Don’t be worried! Be informed …. read more it and the mystery will be solved.
I think its just stress. being in leadership positions is stressful. And to you “As I see it” please don’t worry because this adds to stress- just pray.
What does this say about the medical facilities in D/A. Think about that.
People are airlifted to another country for care
if the care is not available and if the patient
can afford and wants to go. Stop bashing Dominica
Just saying. I am sure people have been and continues to be treated with major illness in Dominica, We may need to be updated but we not all that bad .Health care is Free in Dominica
compared to other countries
While waht you are saying may be true..! but find out how many people he make suffer after almost being killed in traffic accident by refusing to give them help to do the same travel to attend to their broken and fractured bodies. They boast and refuse to give any commitment in writing to poor suffering Dominicans who are victims of such terrible raod accidents and sometimes when you go to Court ten to fifteen years does pass before you can get anything. So while everybody is now turning him into “Saint Timothy” remember God is a just and fair God….he sees and knows all things…!If the hospital is good why is he running to Martinique? he should stay there and take his pills and injection like everbody else…the politicians seems to be all blind because the things happen infront them but is like they not seeing “rich” can and do get sick too…remeber “Chavez” he run to Cuba so many times but that did not stop anything..provide for your people and you will be providing for yourself and your family.
Well most Dominicans applauded the State Palace and stadium and all the fancy roads and ministers driving around in spanking brand new suvs and the list goes on meanwhile their family members dying in hospital because of lack of everything.
So it’s not what does this say about medical facilities it’s what does this say about Dominicans!
Boy look some ignorant comments.Mr.Timothy is a business man who can afford to go to Martinique or Switzerland on his own pocket without the help of the World. However i pray for his recovery. Now is not a time to dwell on petty things.Doctors know when we should or should not or cannot go for medical attention.Alas, let us be positive people.
There are hardly any negative comment read again what was said is truthful
Your comments are completely out of place and sounds rather emotional, hasty and misconceived. For instance you initiate by condemning contributors comments as “ignorant” then you drive on to speculate that the minister airlift was due to he being a “businessman”. Get your facts!
If you were not ignorant you will be stating as a matter of FACT instead of imagination. Your intolerance to the plurality of views of other individuals reeks of bigotry. You simply can’t force people to hallucinate the way you do.
Doctors, are not perfect. they make mistakes too. There are numerous incidents of individuals in accidents here dying a few days later after local doctors discharge them, with a ‘clean bill of health’.
In civilised countries every patient is encouraged to get a second medical opinion. In Dominica and other failed states, it appears that when one ‘infallible’ doctor speaks it is final. At the end of the day everyman has a RIGHT to live.
Whilst you reserve the privilege to ‘pray’ and sympathise with your businessman friend. The relatives and friends of other injured parties have a right to similar sentiments
Agree!Let us all pray for his speedy recovery.
What an ignorant comment on your part. This man’s RESPONSIBILITY as the minister for HEALTH is to make sure the HOSPITAL has the necessary supplies needed for health care, that the people without the means(money) can be taken care for. The people who work all their lives expecting to taken care for in their retirement years.
This man stayed less than a day at the PMH. What about those that can afford to fly to Martinique?
God speed Mr Timothy
I hope GOD will guide you throw this dark time
‘through’
=_=
get well soon big man we are all praying for you
Our Father in heaven, Let your healing hand rest on our Hon Minister J. Timothy. Lord you said to pray for our Leaders, and so we are asking that you work quickly for him in Jesus holy name. We speak healing over Minister Timothy in the name of Jesus.Amen
Why didnt you include the other young man who survived the accident in your prayer how soon some of us forget
Wishing you a speedy recovery. You have a good heart.
I pray that almighty God will spear Mr. Timothy from any serious damage. However, God works in mysterios ways we dont understand. Last week I commented that if a Minister of Government was to fall sick he would be immediately sent elsewhere for medical treatment. My comment was in response to the length of time it was taking to send Norran Jno. Hope for medical teatment after the deadly diaster as Pond Casse. However, I wish Mr. Timothy a total recovery,I dont support his party, but I went to the same school with him and we played football for the same team.
Correction,it should have been Joslyn Prince for medical treatment.
Some comments are unnecessary and out of place and have no bearing on the article. Thank God Norran is now home and recuperating. I wish him continued recovery.
We never know what will befall us one second to another especially as we age. Having resided abroad for a number of years, I do not know if I know him and personally so, even though I occasionally return on vacation. He may know my family who reside in DA. However, as one human being to another, the most we can genuinely wish Julius Timothy, from our heart, is a speedy recovery.
@Justice & Truth why you and that other zehzeh in Canada does just say what all you want? Who cares if he knows you or your family? Wish the man well and move on.
“Thank God Norran is now home and recuperating” REALLY? WHERE? SMDH!
Sorry! I meant Joslyn. The departed are prominent in my mind since I pray for the repose of their souls.
the man has his money to do what ever he want. he would not stoop so low to wait for governmnet help. shate man
Mr. Timothy dont have to wait on Red Clinic or anybody to send him anywhere hospital he has worked and been on the top for some time now. His children dont even have to depend on him. Am sure he is quite capable financially to go where he wish for medical care, without waiting for referal and medical reports for someone to approve funding.
dear lord, please help mr timothy,
he has been good to me and my family for over two years now. bless his soul if the worse should happen.
but i am hoping that you grant him speedy recovery and that he remains his normal self.
god bless you tim tim
Hon. JUlius Timothy. You are in my prayers,God is love…
May the good lord be with Mr Timothy but this has been bothering me from since i read the report. How is it that Mr Timothy got flown out of the country less than a day after he collapsed but it has been almost two weeks since Joslen has been in the accident and he is yet to leave the country??? This is extremely unfair!!!!
Have you heard the term Medical Insurance? There are certain policies which provide such coverage you know. I have one, and I’m not a politician but a smart thinking person who decided to invest in such a policy.
Since he got a stroke, a man of his stature, it is wise that he was quickly sent to Martinique. I hope he receives excellent treatment and will recuperate and will soon return to DA. Pray for him.
Me too, my medical insurance has air ambulance that will fly me anywhere in the world. But you see some of us as Dominicans are too busy talking politics that we do not take the time to invest in our own health. I’m sure Hon. Timothy doesn’t neeed the Gov’t to airlift him anywhere as he is a good businessman who would have taken the necessary steps to protect himslef in such a time as this. I know that I have!
Utilize your common sense. Let this not bother you. Joslyn is now at his home and is recuperating. From the picture I saw on DNO he appears very happy and to be with his family. Pray for his continued recovery. Pray for the minister’s recovery. This is what you should concern yourself about.
Mr. Timothy has his on money and does not rely on Government to send him anywhere
Our Prayers are with you Mr. Timothy… May God grant a speedy recovery to you.
Tim what are you doing in martinque? we need you down here so hurry up come back home
I wish you a speedy recovery Julie…. but i wished Joslen could have received such quick and reliable treatment to seek medical care abroad..
what is the DFA doing for him. FIFA president is fully aware of his situation. Why can they not help .
What is your problem and complaint? Joslyn appears to be doing well. Pray for both of them.
So you are inferring that the mdeical treatment received at the PMH was unreliable? Te guy is NOT in ctirical care – what else do you guys want?
OMG..the DRs at the PMH did a great job in getting him to the point where he is released.
He may need followup care – but he is not critical like the mInister of health so to compare the to is just uncalled for.
At the moment when Joselyn was critical the Drs said that it would have cause more trauma to move him out than to treat him at the PMH ..guess what – THEY WERE RIGHT
so saying could have is pointless – he was saved. Just be thankful for that and stop the political diatribes and NONSENSE
Wow. So sorry to hear. Sad news
God’s blessings, praying for the best.
oh oh……how sad Wishing him a speedy recovery…We should all pray for him setting all political differences aside
Those who do not are not fulfilling God’s Commandment and his expectation of Christians, “Love one another” and “Pray for others especially those who are most in need of prayers.”
By way of info. Timothy was still on island after 6 oclock.
I will pray for me I need God blessings more than he does!
Yes, pray that you control your own fate
You bet! We all do for we know not what lies ahead for us.
how ironic, a minister collapses and is airlifted to a better hospital, and a hero has to survive on his own
tell me about it!
fool!!!! the man owns many businesses before you were born!!!!! he does not need anyone’s money!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does every thing have to be politics, stop it people and start praying for each other,we need God and not back biting so many things are happening in the world why can’t we ask our self a question and go on with life open our hearts and mind to the Lord.
Exactly what you are saying. No irony! Everyone does not get the same treatments anywhere on earth! If that was so every single person in Dominica should not be assisted at PMH but sent overseas after an accident. These two gentlemen will not get the same treatment. Get real
With the French system you do, every body gets the same treatment.
Is Joslyn worst off than when he was admitted to the PMH? If he is not, then there is nothing to be concerned about.
It appeared that he got excellent treatment at PMH. Know that as he said, it is a miracle that he is alive. God was with him and continues to be with him as he recuperates, through the prayers of others, near and far. Pray for him too.
It may not seem fair to us, but that is a privilege afforded to Ministers of Government. And for your information this is not unique to Dominica. And really, I do not have an issue with a Minister of Government being flown out in such a case.
But truly, there are medical insurances that cover such. Even my personal medical insurance covers emergency air-ambulance, and having been a successful businessman for so many years, that is something I am sure Mr. Timothy would have. But as a Minister of Government who serves the state, WE SHOULD JUST WISH HIM THE BEST!
BE REAL
How ironic can you reiterate that? No one survives on their own. Someday some how we are all going to need someone. God intervened sent the bus driver to facilitate Mr prince take him to the hospital, people like myself and all over the world were crying and praying for our lone survivor. The staff at the Princess Margaret hospital, the unconditional love of his family and by extension his Dominican family has and is still helping him coupe with his current situation. We all can do our part to help our hero. What have you done to facilitate Mr Prince? I’m suggesting raising funds. How much are you going to contribute towards sending him to a better medical facility? We all can make a difference. There are strength in numbers. Let’s all work as one for a common good.
Grow a brain…dont even know how u type that sht… oh yea, without thinking. =_=
My friend Julie, wishing you God’s speed. He is still a wonder working God, the greatest of all physicians.
I do believe that some of you do not think and utilize your common sense, if you have any. God gave each of us basic common sense. For God’s sake, use it!
Wish you a speedy recovery. We are praying for tou. I wish my cousin Joslyn Prince was taken on the same air ambulance to M/nique. It was an opportunity.
If it was necessary that he was sent to Martinique and for what? The doctor(s) stated that it was not necessary. In this case, they knew best. Consider he is now home. Is he complaining to you? Are you not happy that he is home and recuperating?
So they should have tell the air ambulance “hol’ it” while they run to get Mr. Prince at his home to give him a vep in the same ambulance? THAT was the opportunity you speak off? Ok – I officially give up. smh
Please God, heal his body then his mind. Amen
Thatss a sign mr minister of health. We need improved medical facilities. The ordinary man without means to ly out to martinique would have surely died this afternoon.
Iam sure you are not paying tax to help pay for the med or help to maintain the hospital, money to maintain or improve a hospital don’t grow on trees grow up.
but they seem to come from now where to pay for largesse!! what about spending smarter and prioritizing so maybe we would have spent some money on the hospital by now
Don’t b an id10t. =_=)”. The moment u buy something, you pay tax. O_O. Didn’t you know? Oh here is a fun fact, we are building a state palace and not a hospital. This palace has no real proper use and is a crying sham. So when u start talking down ppls about not paying tax, remember the useless project, pockets and hands the tax payer money goes into.
May the Hand of the Lord be upon you for a speedy recovery…
Wishes for a speedy recovery for Mr. Timothy.
i wish him a speedy recovery but dont u think our hero Prince who was in the tragic accident at Pond Casse should have gotten the same treatment. He is still waiting on some funds to get a check up overseas.
why cant we stick to the topic at hand? i mean timothy has businesses and links to g’ment may not even play a role in how soon he was flown out. jeez
Wish u Gods blessings .you are in his care
I pray that the Lord will touch Mr. Timothy’s body and cause him to experience full recovery. I pray for wisdom for the medical personnel who will attend to him that God will grant them insight as they make their diagnosis and that the medication administered will be of benefit to his body.
Amen!
Your are in my prayers.. Get better soon.
i saw the air ambulance so i am not sure how slight of a stroke it was or maybe the government is just being extra cautious .. great move and get well soon mr timothy
well we on air ambulance , the lone survivor in the fatal accident needs urgent care also
Get well soon tim tim, I’m praying for you
All now he is being flown away from the canefield airport
They just rush him to guadeloupe
No my dear, to Martinique.
get well soon mr timothy from roseau north constituency
Apparently a helicopter, coming from the south landed at Canefield in the dark, just before 7 pm. with an ambulance in attendance. If this is related to mr. Timothy his condition may be worse than expected and not considered treatable locally.
I wonder what could have caused this? So many illnesses and sicknesses… hopefully there is a cure
As it is stated, he may have had a stroke. Hard work, anxiety on the job, lack of ample rest and sleep could be a few factors.
Last evening I heard on WNED, U.S. about the above which I have been aware of.
Only this evening, on my way in I had a conversation with someone on health matters and about strokes and aneurisms – of the brain, that we should drink enough water (approximately 6 to 8 glasses daily, not huge ones) which is necessary for the body, for the blood to pump the heart and to the brain. Consider the heat in DA. People could get dehydrated.
Sometime ago I heard on TV that we should drink two glasses of milk a day. How many of us do that? Let us make note of that and practice it. It is not early for those who are young to practice these health matters. The younger and sooner the better.
May God bless you with healing and a speedy recovery. Get well soon.
I wish him a speedy recovery
we wish him all the best and we’ll keep praying for him
May God guide and protect him be strong
We are in pray with u mr T
