A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Dominica as a slightly weakened TS Isaac continues to approach and is expected to pass over or near to the the island on Thursday.

A Hurricane Watch for Dominica was downgraded to Tropical Warning as of 11:00 pm Tuesday.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.

According to the latest advisory from the Dominica Meteorological Service, at 5:00 am today, Tropical Storm Isaac was located near latitude 14.6 degrees north and longitude 53.5 degrees west or about 530 miles east of Dominica.

Isaac is moving westward at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds now decreased to near 60 mph with higher gusts. Some further weakening is expected but Isaac should remain a tropical storm as it moves across the area on Thursday.

Residents are advised to closely monitor the progress of Isaac and to make all the necessary preparations for the arrival of this system.

A rainband ahead of Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to generate an increase in cloudiness, scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorm activity, across the Lesser Antilles, today. A flood warning will be in effect as of 6pm. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be vigilant and should exercise extreme caution.

A further deterioration in conditions is anticipated tonight into Thursday as Isaac draws nearer to the islands. Isaac is expected to be at tropical storm strength as it passes over or near to Dominica on Thursday.

Moderate to rough seas are expected during the next 24 hours with wave height increasing up to 8.0ft.

A High-Surf Advisory and Small-Craft Warning will be in effect from 6pm Wednesday September 12, 2018 until further notice.

The holy name of Mary bears such power because of the unique bond between mother and Son.

    Holy Mary
Please continue to intercede for the Caribbean and its people.

Praise be to Jesus and Holy Mary

530 miles east of Dominica still has time to re-develop into a hurricane if the conditions are right, Dominica is not out of the woods yet as far as a hurricane. Remember that Maria developed into cat 5 right before hitting the island.

I notice that this morning the DMS, on their forecast site, have given a direct link under “Satellite Imagery” to the National Hurricane Center. This is an excellent innovation.

Under “Isaac” you will find a link to their “discussion” page. I find this page to be the most detailed source of information and well worth monitoring.

@Roger Burnett – Agree with you about the National Hurricane Center discussion page on the storms. It is quite an informative and very good section.

I’ve been a regular reader of the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami forecast discussion section for quite a number of years especially when storms are around. If one doesn’t understand weather terminology, they can Google the terms so that as one reads, they can understand the NHC discussion better.

Good news for Dominica but definitely terrible news for that hypocrite prime minister of Dominica. The man has failed to grow the economy and like Anancy of old would have liked to have a natural disaster first to blame for his failure and then to be in a position to raise money to fool and blind his supporters , despite his hypocritical cry for prayer yesterday. He wanted more hurricane because the man does not care a damn about Dominica. All he wants is to be able to use the office of PM to accumulate personal wealth and then to be able to hide from his adversaries, just as his personal friend Alrieza Monfared used the good name of my Dominica trade house to hide. But just as Alereza Monfared couldn’t hide forever so too the day of this hypocrite will come upon him.

People dont like to hear truth. I truly believe that a hurricane warning is music to his ears, considering that he is never in its path.

      My badm
Dr. Benjamin certainly has a lot of work to do in this place and perhaps on this site.

I thank God for sparing us from another disaster. I know there are some disappointed people because it is one less thing to pin on Skerrit.

Thank you God because you know how many of our brothers and sisters still have tarpaulins over their heads and how vulnerable our terrain is at this time following Maria.

You know all Father and I thank you for the majority of Dominicans who wish the country well and who pray for its well being night and day and who know the difference between the individuals who govern and the country where we all live.

I pray that you continue to keep us in the majority. Amen

I suspect you need to know the difference between a “hurricane” and a “tropical storm” :-D
