A $4.5-million storage tank that is expected to significantly improve the water supply to the city of Roseau and environs is to be commissioned today.
The 500,000 gallon tank, situated at Morne Bruce, was funded by the government of Dominica and will also provide water for the Windsor Park Stadium and supply the sale of bulk water to cruise ships.
The contractor, ACE Engineering, has been working on the project for the past year.
Public Relations Officer of DOWASCO, Edward Registe, has described the project as significant to the residents of the capital, Roseau.
“We’re happy that we can commission the tank today and we look forward to a more dedicated supply of water to the city and we also look forward to fewer interruptions in supply to the people of Kings Hill, Morne Bruce and so on,” Registe told Dominica News Online.
The Commissioning of the storage tank will take place later today at Morne Bruce.
Did Dowasco check thé Pichelin/Grand Bay/ Tête Mourne area? Orwhat is the plan? No water!!!!
i will say thank God 4 that great move, as i see it clean flowing water thats good.
But wait nuh,,, I thought not too long ago them Tourist ships were gonna have less calls to Dominica’s Ports,,,
Mista dem always playing smart yeh,,, watch my word: soon from now allyou going to start seeing Tug and Barges start pulling up and getting loaded with water,,,
But wait nuh,,, Dominica of all places have Water issue(s)???
I hope for real that Kingshill people will not stay without water again. I think it was done without any thinking from Dowasco. Everyday Kingshill people without water.
Big up to ACE for a job well done. Project completed on time by ACE with no complains re. breach of contract. ACE not in kickbacks. Although ACE produces top quality work in time, yet the local co. has to almost beg foreign construction cos. for sub-contracts for jobs ACE or other locals could do.
I have just been laid off from ACE. Govt. awarded contracts to build State Palace and College to the Chinese Co., while ACE is laying off scores of its workers, due to lack of projects. Dominicans have to pay back the loan taken from China, but Govt. refused to engage the local construction Cos. to do the job. Something fishy is going on in that relationship. It is unbelievable that a Govt. would do such things to its own people. All the loan money going back to China and providing jobs for the Chinese. Vendors cannot even sell an accra or local juice to the Chinese workers. No contributions to our Social Security. Almost all materials imported from China. Any taxes paid? What a joke?
Authorities so insensitive to the plight of locals who are unemployed or being laid off. It is a real shame. A new form of colonisation? and some sections of our Nature Isle supporting those things? Amazing. Slavery ain’t done yet. Mental slavery persists.
So much investment in storage tanks, yet when it rains water is gone and comes back after people go work.
If we cannot have water when it rains, it is all a waste of money.
COngrats to DOwasco and the Govt. Great initiative!
Hmm. I hope when govt selling water to tourist ships it don’t mean that our water in the Roseau will be cut off or slowed down. I watching still.
all you can thumbs me down if all you want wi…zor toh soutiweh tan!
That’s good, hope the sale of water will really stimulate the economy.
Our water in roseau already so clean and now it even better! One thing you have to respect dowasco ehh, pipe water i drinking everyday.
I agree 100%
Yet still nothing is happening in Dominica. Last week when the storm threatened, water (for kingshill residents) was not interrupted for long, nor did it flow “dirty” as is usually the case during rainy periods.
Thanks DOWASCO, Roseau South Parl Rep and our PM.
They say nothing is happening. Boy! oh Boy!
