Worst carnival ever. The DFC needs to go back to the drawing board and have some serious discussions. Bring back the big parade to Monday. It was a trial, it’s not working. They must ask Government to put in more money. Jouvert cannot go on till 10oclock in the morning after everyone goes to sleep. Jouvert should be from 2 to 6a.m.
Then the grand parade. All shows should be at the MAIN stadium. Carnival queen contestans, costumes swimwear and dresses has to be seriously discussed. Poor poor Carnival. Some money should be given to heads carnival costume bands so there can be more bands.
They killing it. Poor poor poor.
Why not protest against KFC for killing our people? KFC is a Virus 🦠 and Fauchi has no intention to make a vaccine for that KFC Virus, because he may have shares in the greasy chicken 🐔.

Plaques come in all forms and fashion. This one is called, SELF DESTRUCT.” This one doesn’t have a cure. I see them leaning everywhere including at cashiers counter, on vehicles, on shopping carts, on houses and on anything for support. The other sad part is, because most men are going for women of lighter weight like 135-150 lbs the much heavier women are falling for any man who dare comes their way. I haven’t been with a heavy but would not mind the experience.
Carnival was very disappointing. DDA, Festivals Commission & Ministry of Tourism should explain the lack of costume bands, only one Old Mas band, 2-hour late start, completely disjointed parade – instead of describing it as a success, which no doubt they will do. In their attempt to turn carnival into a branded tourism product, they’re disenfranchising Dominicans from the tradition of it all and the main event is really suffering. It’s become a bouyon and whine fest, nothing more. Also sorry to say that Carnival Queen and Calypso King looked completely bored during their very short walk around the town. Traditional carnival is flatlining.
@Bwa-Banday, I can see your point, and I don’t know where in the World you live, but in this day and time, I am seeing obesity, especially in black young women, in every corner that I look–especially with belly fat and the huge behind.
Gone are the days when we used to be under 150 pounds, and well-shaped at the age of 25-35. This problem is not only in Dominica. As I see it online; it is all over the World. But this is a sad situation for us, women.

Agreed. Obesity is a global problem. I watched a few videos of carnival in Trinidad, Guadeloupe and Aruba and 90% of the people were overweight – both men and women.
The thing is, at carnival time, 80% of the revelers in costume are women, so we see more women being overweight. But this is not a Dominica or women problem. It is a health problem among people all over the globe.
Thanks for all the lovely pics DNO…but I dont know if its me only that is seeing the OBESITY Malaise that is plauging us especially the ladies. Boy oh boy, do we have have some seriously obese folks in this land. But again it goes back to financial insecurity. If you don’t have money then you can’t afford a proper diet and there lies the problem. Ok yeah some of them come from the US where is burger and fries that make up their diet but a majority them live right here in Ma Dominique. Now that is a cause for concern.
We need to go on a serious health campaign because our nation is sick with OBESITY. Ladies, ladies, ladies you all can do better. Now that I have said it, who vex lost!

Forty years ago I had no difficulty finding lithe models for the paintings and sculptures in my series “Daughters of the Caribbean Sun”. But these days I search in vain.
You are so right. I’m sure when some of these people look at their photos on DNO they will realise that they need to take action to adjust their lifestyles. It would appear that the focus is more on the women because they appeared to be more scantily dressed while revelling than the men and obviously more of their bodies were on show. It also seem that more women were in organised bands so the cameras were trained on them because they were in greater numbers. But from a heath perspective, this need to be addressed. Having said that, the majority of the revellers look rather fit and very energetic.
Dude… are you body shaming people who are comfortable enough to show their skin? What is in your heart? When did you become the dictator who decides the standard way any one should look? Who are you to tell a woman what size she should be? Wash your peach and drink the water. Their body, their health is their problem. Celebrate instead of being a hater. You’re an idiot asking African bodies to model themselves based on a skinny shapeless white standard. Not only are you cozy on your horse you don’t even mind you’re facing the wrong way.

Financial insecurity? KFC is located right next to the produce market and KFC never lacks customers. KFC surely cost more than the natural healthy foods that we grow. people have bad habits and are lazy. This has nothing to do with finances.
