Assange arrested in London on Swedish warrant

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange

London (CNN) — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested Tuesday on a Swedish warrant, London’s Metropolitan Police said.

Assange was arrested at a London police station at 9:30 a.m. and will appear at the City of Westminster Magistrate’s Court at 2 p.m., police said.

Swedish authorities had issued the warrant for Assange so they can talk to him about sex-crime allegations unrelated to WikiLeaks’ recent disclosure of secret U.S. documents.

At court, Assange will be able to respond to the arrest warrant, and the court will then have roughly 21 days to decide whether to extradite him, said Mark Ellis, executive director of the International Bar Association.

Even though the Swedish warrant is a European arrest warrant designed for easy transfer of suspects among European states, Assange may still choose to fight it — something his London lawyer has promised to do, according to the Press Association.

If the court does decide to allow his extradition, Assange will be allowed to appeal that decision, too, elongating the legal process, Ellis said.

It appears to me that some of you are lacking in common sense and good judgment. You have heard the news therefore there is no need for further clarification.
Assange, the founder of Wikileaks is a dangerous and scandalous man. It is always the case that those who lack perfection are the ones who expose others, judge and condemn them, as yourselves.
I continue to ask myself what is this man up to and what does he hope to achieve.
He is a danger to society and its security including yours, in whatever part of the world you reside. I would not condone him and his wicked acts. He has projected that he is the devil’s advocate, out to destroy, divide and create international lack of peace and for what. Would you applaud such a person?
Give compliments where there are due. This man does not deserve them. I am advising you, cease condoning and applauding evil and giving credence to such people, specifically if you are Christians. You should know that God is a fair, just and loving God. He does not approve evil.
What goes around comes around which you will experience in time according to your statements/ words as imbedded in your heart and mind.
I suggest that you pray to God for mortal and spiritual enlightenment and His graces.
Assange is a wanted man for all that he has done. The world Courts will deal with him accordingly. I certainly would not want to be in his position. In time he will receive just as he deserves. He is the one that the noose is slowing closing in – on him forever. I doubt that he will ever be a free man, another one, due to his stupidity and lack of common sense and poor judgment.

IF he is innocent I hope he wins, however if he is guilty he should be punished – that will teach him to not mess around with women who are feminist – they tend to be weirdos!!!

I think he is a good man and has done the right thing with wiki-leaks. Unfortunately not everyone thinks that way. But governments always take advantage of its citizens and for some strange reason the citizens always ends up supporting the same government while they prosecute the ones who try to shed some light.

God Bless you Mr Assange – no matter what happens you will always be an inspiration!

the one we have in d/ca is a good one,,,,much different than wikileaks in fact the one run by brother lennox is called “wickedleaks”,,,,,,but mr julian assange was putting u n i plus billions world wide at risks and terrorists attacks,,,,,but the one we have dominica is actually bringing to light the things they do in the dark,,,,which is putting the nation in a deplorable condition

Moutn of thge south you sound more like brain of the foul to me, do you ever think about the issues you are so quick to talk about?? In your own words please tellus what you understand of what the gentle man did, how he got the documents he published, what is illegal about what he did?/ Just so you know he was arrested on an unrelated matter, did you even read the article? Any sensible person would argue that they are trying to frame him up, to shut him up! Just like they do in Dominica.

ofcourse i know,,,,but a bird brain like u would actually believe is for rape they want him,,,,in fact these charges were dismissed already,,,,,there were only brought back up to get him to crush under international judicial pressure,,,,,in fact the way in which he got the info is not the matter,,,the point is billions of people could be at risk,,,,what mr assange is doing is basically airing out governments dirty laundry,,,,what peeps like u call the truth,,,the terrorists calll it there key to cuz mayhem,,,,think of the solution to the war between Israel n Palestine,,,,all these can be jeopardized,,,,u call me a fool but in these so called truths are info on peeps who aid the authorities to thwart terrorist attacks like that attempted bomb plot of the cargo plane from Yemen,,,,,these people being exposed means a death wish to them,,,,in the future they’ll simply let the terrorists do as they please since putting out and alert is a death wish,,,,yes there is things in it we should no,,,,but is it the better good for humanity,,,,,there have always been secrets,,,,kingdoms n nations always have secrets that’s nothing new,,,n there have always been people who deliver such secrets,,,the question is will it bring peace or war,,,,,,,,will it bring joy or sorrow,,,,will it cause civility or social unrest,,,,i leave these final word 2 u to ponder,,,,b4 u try to attack me n call me a fool,,,,be careful i’m the last person u want to debate with,,,i might just embarrass u in humiliating fashion

Guy please get an education. Is everything so simple to you?

If you don’t understand something please do not comment! You make Dominicans look so illiterate.

I would not comment about the man in the above article, because I am not interested. But the writing of MOTS above, speaks much wisdom to me. He most certainly does not make me feel illiterate, as you have suggested.

Most of the time we need to speak or write our contentions against others, as it suits our personal feelings or ego. You did not speak for me, as a Dominican.
