Boris Johnson loses majority in British Parliament after dramatic defection

Boris Johnson has pledged to leave the EU by Oct 31 with or without a deal

The Conservative Party lost its working majority of one on Tuesday as Prime Minister Boris Johnson was giving an address in Parliament, with lawmaker Phillip Lee crossing the floor of the House of Commons to defect to the Liberal Democrats in dramatic fashion.

Johnson was making an appeal to lawmakers ahead of a crucial vote this evening that could see Conservative rebels effectively block the U.K. from leaving the European Union with no trade deal.

As Johnson spoke, Conservative Member of Parliament Philip Lee crossed the floor to join the pro-EU Liberal Democrat party. In a statement, Lee accused Johnson of “pursuing a damaging Brexit in unprincipled ways.”

Parliament will vote this week on whether to block the government from carrying out a no-deal Brexit on Oct. 31, assuming Johnson isn’t able to strike a last-minute agreement with the European Union. Johnson has threatened to expel Conservative lawmakers who vote against the government, and has signaled that he will call a general election if the legislation to block no-deal succeeds.

Johnson has gambled his leadership on a “do or die” pledge to leave the EU with or without a deal by the legal deadline of Oct. 31.

He took his cue from Trump, he is the British Trump. If Trump has his way he will abolish Congress and rule like a dictator, Boris even looks like Trump he admires him. Senator Moscow Mitch McConnell and Leningrad Lindsay Graham will say nothing. They are all terrified of Trump and his twitter. Trump digs Boris Johnson. Since Boris was born in the US Trump may make him his chief of staff and replace Hannity as Chief of staff.

The world has seen too many rogue leaders with global influence in control of too many countries. These renegades must be outed from their present seats of power. The British electorate did not vote for this man to be Prime Minister. The system is seriously flawed. Donald Trump is creating a global recession with his ill-thought-out trade policies. Men like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are global threats and should be removed by all legal means necessary.

The first nail in Johnson’s coffin. The second one to follow shortly. No dictatorship in the UK. Dominica take note!

WOW! political individualism vs patriotism on display at its best. One in England walks across the isle for patriotic purposes, the other in Dominica walks for what seems to have had nothing to do with the best interest of Dominica, but instead for self-interest.

Dominicans including those living in the diaspora should see the world around them is changing, and must adhere to change. Like Lot’s wife we will keep looking back, and I am confident I do not have to give you the detail of the outcome of that biblical passage.

The Dominica Labour Party has lost its original meanings and values. It has lost the concept of work that Mike and Leblanc espoused: workers laboring their way towards success, that is what the symbol of the shoe MEANT. Today Labour means someone must depend on a few party bosses for what they need. In which other country you see a government giving people houses? The moral fiber of the country has been totally destroyed by this gang. Alas poor Dominica.

Why don’t the uwp move a vote of no confidence in the DLP. Can uwp supporters crossing the floor be considered a vote of no confidence in an uneducated Lennox as leader
You think that the DLP has lost meaning and value, they have not. Have you considered the reconstruction re Maria.
uwp do not have meaning, value and ethics, never had it and NEVER will .
Did it show value on D-Day when they looted the business places of DLP members and supporters. Did they condemn the Looting re Maria. How was the value displayed when they went M I A re Mathew, Erica and Maria. The only value they have is duplicity and words,…no action just words.
They claim that they are not in Government (Cabinet ) so they can not help in time of crisis, but they promised a litany of assistance to the Bahamas. Those 5th graders will go down in History as the blue 2.2 US M $ JOKE. Already Caribbean leaders are chuckling for margee they did in Guyana. This was placed in the archives of CARICOM.

Aye aye, I was waiting for them two pinez we: Man bites dog, and Joseph John..…. I was wondering no response as yet? Still wondering why them two lacking in originality, political leeches, supporting the fleecing (transitive verb) of Dominica’s resources did not respond as yet? Well here is one of them. I prematurely thought my answer to Plain and simple’s challenge to my academic accomplishments had scared away the above two mentioned -average intellectual moppers ? But so far, Joseph John, just could not resist the bait.

As I have said before on this forum. A young man asked the abolitionist Frederick Douglass, while on his dying bed, what advice would you give to young people, and he replied agitate. Even if you begin with five people in the protest, the movement must grow because there is an undercurrent of discontent in the country.

Power is based entirely on the acceptability or the rejection of the people, over whom that said power is going to be exercised.
