UPDATE: Venezuela moves troops to Colombian border – Chavez

President Hugo Chavez

CARACAS (AFP) – President Hugo Chavez has said that Venezuela has deployed military units and troops to the Colombian border, because outgoing President Alvaro Uribe is “capable of anything,” as a row escalates between the two.

Chavez broke off diplomatic relations with Colombia on July 22, after Uribe accused Venezuela of harboring 1,500 leftist Colombian rebels in its territory, a charge Chavez has strongly denied.

“We’ve deployed military units, air force, infantry, but quietly because we don’t want to upset anybody, the population,” Chavez told state-run VTV television in a telephone interview.

Be informed, why are you kicking and screaming like that? Medicine you studying? What kind of doctor you plan on being with a temperament like that? All you so that killing people with all you malpractice, your way of communicating says a whole lot about the kind of caregiver you will be. You have to learn to live and let live, freedom of expression is the order of the day in Dominica. I feel really sorry for the poor malayway that cannot afford to go to a private doctor and end up at the mercy of people like you.

@ Informed I think the one with the empty head is you and if you feel that Dominicans are so ignorants why do you want to come back? Why don’t you stay with your smart friends in Venezuela kissing Chavez butt and leave Dominica to the Dominicans? Why? Like i told you, there have been doctors before you and there will doctors after you, so in 4 words: ” WE DON’T NEED YOU!” …

NB: When you put “the return” i thought it is some thing interesting you had to say, but apparently it is non sense you talking..SHUPES!!

You are correct in saying every country has a right to protect its boundaries and territories.
Unfortunately you are incorrect in the rest since the current pm of Dominica having publicly admitted that he is a French citizen
    Has:
Prevented the coast guard from protecting our territorial waters by
Interfered with the justice sytem by releasing ARRESTED french fishermen who were caught in the act by our coast guard.
Who released the Venezuelan men who were caught illegally off Scotts head with a large sum of money?

@ Ryon, i kind of agree with you, i don’t believe we should alarm ourselves like that, after all, this is not the first time Hugo Chavez is deploying his troop by the border and nothing had happened, so yeah.. i could see that like a type of exercise at the same time he might try to intimidate the Colombian President because of its agreement with the United States allowing American troops to find themselves stationed at military bases scattered across the South American nation of Colombia with a mission to use advanced Predator drone technology to aid in fighting the drug trade and to combat terrorism..

    August 1, 2010

Every one has a right to border protection, it’s just like the islands protect their boundaries and territorial waters just so, venezuela has a right to protect it’s borders.

What would happen if french fishermen fish in Dominica’s waters or viceversa, we need to think first before we speak and don’t blame ALBA or any political affiliation. This is a simple exercise, dominica deploys coast guards to protect it’s waters as well.

    August 1, 2010

You got that right by your name. It matters to us.If your gov’t has diplomatic relation with any country it is the duty of every citizen to know what’s going down. Not because this Gov’t willing at what ever cost to dazzle the population with events never before experienced that we ought not to be aware and ask questions.
Here is a 101 ej. I have 3.3 acres of land in DA .I allowed my youngest sibling to build a temporary house on one of my properties. You know what the little shrimp attempted to do with a silly lawyer?Tried to sell my land. He collected a fraction of the money before presenting documents he did not have. Then one cold winter morning I received a call from this lawyer asking me for the land documents so he could move forward on the sale of my land.People are foolish and desperate to accept any bogas proposal so is this cuurent administration young by-products of abject poverty before seizing office by elbowing out long standing party members with the help of opportunist who have taken our country to hell in a basket case. You never know what people do or are planning which affects you down the road.

  10. @Just Another Guy On The Street:

Actually, I endeavor to concentrate on the story, I usually express my opinions on most matters and whatever it pertains to. Yet I find it difficult to overlook the sentiments of others noting their grammar and diction.

When I read the sentiments of others I anticipate understanding their views on the matter, if their views are not written in manner that is comprehendible to me, that poses a problem you see.

Sometimes, as smart as people may be, we need to remember the brain is a processor similar, to the processor of a computer, only that it’s superior to a computer. However, the theory of garbage in, garbage out is real; to me if the contents of the persons opinions are not written in a way that my brain can effectively process what they write, my brain sees it as simply garbage, thus rendering me incapable of understand their concept of the matter.

I am aware that perhaps none of us who writes on DNO majored in linguistics, and so I do not anticipate perfect English, but, man some of the crap that our fellow Dominicans write, is a total turn off for many intelligent people who may wish to make their contribution on the subjects at hand.

I have to give credit to DNO for their tolerance by allowing the voices of all to be heard, I do not believe in censorship, however, the privilege that we enjoy on DNO should not be taken for granted. After all, we should all realize that anything written on DNO is being viewed by a World wide audience, and basically, people are judged by what comes out of our mouth, and what we put in writing.

Thus, the same apply’s to our country; it will be judged by the conduct of our people, and the way in which we express ourselves in writing, and so our diction and grammar will be called into question by those who come to know us via the Internet.

That is my belief, what about you?

So why coming back to Dominica? Is your “protege” Chavez kicking your ass our the country or what? August 1, 2010

Wow… People have really weird ideas about this topic…Personnally, i think that even though Dominica economic relation with Venezuela, it is unlikely that they will intervene on a Columbia/Venezuela crisis…Dominica doesn’t have any military, police forces trained for this kind of mission and Venezuela knows it well.. This is said other countries like Cuba or Brazil are more likely to help than Dominica…

Then again I ask myself what the hell it is doing on DNO anyway, of what interest is it to us here in Dominica? And should re really take interest and even comment about?

@POSITIVELY DOMINICAN: Its exactly the point am trying to make, we are all kept in the dark about these agreements and instead of weighing the pros and the cons we simply just sit by and talk about what we could get or getting but never consider what we have agreed to give up without our consent, and I’m not saying that every decision has to be made in the public’s eye but some public discussion and disclosure would help.

All this chavez talk and dying for ALBA pack. It would be interesting to see if we had tosend people to join forces with chavez against Columbia if our good friendThe ALBA ambassador would be first to step up to the plate. He has US citizenship too by the way! he skipped MaryLand and family He lok like a capon so he will soon be asking Skerro to give him amassador to Brazil instead.

  25. I do not wish to appear as if I am picking on anyone in particular, nonetheless, I am usually bewildered, and somewhat concern with some of the sentences I read.

    I. E; in the following quote: what part of speech is that if we base it on the English language? I can understand a bunch of misspelt, words since most people including myself fall short where it pertains to spelling, nonetheless, the diction of the majority of people here seems very poor.

Again, one wonders if that sort is diction was taught in our schools. I strongly doubt that!

” How many of ( all you willing to send all you self ) and children to the front lines and face the bullets and bombs for Chavez?”

My question here is what part of speech extracted form the English language is ” all you ?”

what chaves has done for his people, the U.S has havent reached half way yet, plus he was ellected by the poor peasants, the wealthy ones are the one who paint the picture of a wicked president he is,he give free medical to his poor ppl,and food and housing, those who appose him are pro-americans,if they like america then they should go there to live,

and the one in cuba, read your history good,he put the use out had too,the americans use the cubans as they foot stool,a man could only be a bartender waiter or a gardner, and a woman a cook or a cleaner, they subjected cubans to poor, castro push them out yes ,promise them freedom yes,and free ellection too, which has nver came to past,

but yet I prefer not to have a white man rape our woman kill our men and get away with it,live poor with dignity is better, than have to live oppress in a shadow of democracy

Great to see DNO is enlitening dominicans on parts of the bigger picture
Would be nice to publish other recent extremely important regional news items that show the extremely dangerous situ*tion that Dominica has become party to such as:

The current military and territorial tensions between the ductch, brittish, USA, and several other caribbean nations and venezuela where because of bird island and the refusal to sign the treaty of the seas venezuela is claiming most of the caribbean sea.

Why would PM Skerrit, a scout and Cadet, refuse help to the peace promoting scout and girls guide s whose headquarters have been condemned because of it is built of extremely hazardous degrading asbestos?
Why would he raise over one million dollars last year to build a headquarters and promote the paramilitary cadet corps? An organisation that has been used by most to recruit child soldiers.
Note this fact has been a warning given by the international scout movement to avoid encouraging scouts to become cadets.
It should be noted that these two head quarters are but a few hundred feet away from each other. However the microscopic asbestos dust particles being blown from the girls guides and scouts headquarters are entering the classrooms of the St Mary’s Primary School which are less than 20 feet downwind of the condemned broken and fragmented asbestos walls of the condemned buildings.

If the French could have masacred a village at masacre and destroyed an entire nation of Haiti,
Install an asphalt plant in layou despite villagers protesting, set up quarries in calihaut, layou and solomon contrary to WHO, ILO, EU,US, French and Canadian regulations… is it too much to punish the children of constituents of Roseau central for not voting for them?

Boss for starts If they did not have a green card they would not have been there!!

Ask any American if they want to be in that war that has no end in site and they will tell you NO!!

The principle is simple: There is no free lunch – As long as you as a Caribbean National want to enter the USA and take advantage of their social benefits without repayment via taxes or business investment you will get your US$15,000.00 and come back in a green bodybag.

Chavez was a soilder once and he knows the value of life of his people. You must take another look at the ALBA Agreement that Dominica and the others signed with Chavez. THe man said already – loud and clear an attack on one is an attack on all.

If things gets hotter than that , all those houses on the gimmit and Belfast Area will loose their insurance coverage if war declare in Chavez country and d USA give strategic assistance to chavex foe on its birder
