Chavez: US, allies want Libyan oil

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has denounced the Western-led military operation on Libya, saying that the West’s intervention is aimed at seizing the North African country’s huge oil reserves.

“They want to seize Libya’s oil and they care nothing about the lives of the Libyan people,” Chavez said on state TV on Saturday as a five-country coalition, including the United States, France, Britain, Canada and Italy, launched strikes on Libya aimed to cripple the country’s ruler Muammar Gaddafi’s air defenses.

“These are the men of war … what irresponsibility. Behind this is the hand of the United States and its European allies, instead of taking the path that we have modestly proposed,” he added, Reuters reported.

Chavez announced a peace plan this month for crisis-hit Libya and said his friend Gaddafi supported foreign mediation.

    Hahaha,
Some of us are so ignorant. Ghaddafi may be wrong for killing his people.

But that does not rule out that the US and Allies are after the oil. The unrest simply presented the perfect opportunity to enter Libya.

Besides, did any of you hear Obama say that removing Ghaddafi is US Policy?

Watch the news people and stop playing stupid politics.

You people so stupid. Talking about it’s not about oil. This is about oil and about payback for the lockaby(sp) bombing. Just last week one of the American politicians was saying that after Gaddafi falls they(the west need to put a president that will be easy to control). Gaddafi don’t give a f*ck that’s why I have a tremendous amount of respect for the man.

That’s a ridiculous statement. America don’t get oil from Libya and never have. They support Britain beacuse Britain always support them. And if this was about oil, Britain was already getting oil off Libya. furthermore, the UN and NATO would have never supported it. Much less for France Qatar Saudi Arabia and the UAE. If it was about oil, what is Saudi, the largest oil exporter doing involved?

Chavez and Kadafi are alike ; both of them are dictators and therefore will always support each other.

I deeply regret that DA, being a member of the Alba, is a Chavez ally.

Kadafi has a lot of blood of innocent people on his hands; civilians ; and his own people !!

America and Europe are not taking any oil, from nobody ; the aim of this military action is only to avoid a huge slaughter.
After 41 years in power, don’t you all think that it is time for Kadafi to resign and give someone else a chance ?

Very early Fidel Castro said that the oil thieves would attack Libya and it was so said so done. The US said that it went to Libya to stop the massacre of civilians by Gaddafy military forces. However, up to this day we are yet to see on TV the pictures of the hundreds of innocent civillians reported killed. Why don’t the so-called rebels take the reporters to see the bodies? They showed us the wreckage of a crashed coalition aircraft and some rebels standing on the wreckage. They showed the pictures of Libyan soldiers killed by air strikes and dozens of tanks, aircrafts and military vehicles destroyed but no civilians.

When the Libyan government showed pictures of civilians killed by the US bombing raids it is denied by the US to make us believe that bombs don’t kill civilians. Everyday the US and its allies are killing innocent civilians in Libya. These bombings are condemned by the African Uninion, Russian, China, Germanhy, and many more countries. Even in America senators and congressmen are against it. People are demonstrating against it in many big cities around the world.

Go to this link:- http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/ApPcImKh/sharing.html to see how the government of Bahrain, Yemen and Saudi Arabia brutalizing and murdering innocent protesters and the TV stations are hidingit from the public. Ask yourself why are they hiding it from the public? Time will tell.

Oil is the world’s currency. And yes Chavez is right about this, except, it is the global elite running the U.S. and the “allies” and making the decisions that are after the absolute oil control worldwide. They just use the power countries to go after whatever they want so that people think, “oh, the U.S. is doing it,” NO. They are being played.
Human life means nothing to these people. The less people there are, the better they like it.
Skin color has nothing to do with it.

Google China-Africa relations and my people you will understand why it is said that Africa is being recolonized this time with a different colonial master. US, Europe, UK, China are interested in third World countries resources, oil, natural gas, minerals, etc. etc. But Chavez would never ever talk about China’s operations in Africa and the rest of the world. Mark you Gaddafi is not condemned for the attacks and atrocities against his own people.

Chavez has not condemned Gaddafi for unleashing bombs on his people? If Gaddafi did care about the lives of his own people why would he be bombing and killing his own. Of course, if US and the other Western-led countries are wrong to bomb Libya, how comes it is right for Gaddafi to do it. The Libyan people were standing up for their rights and protesting against dictatorship. Libya is rich in oil, yet 1/3 of its people live in poverty. The elite Class, a few in power have amassed massive wealth, while the majority of Libyans are struggling with all that oil around them. So Chavez should condemn all attacks on the Libyans from whatever side whether it is done by Gaddafi and his goons or by the Western countries. Many of Gaddafi’s friends simply mouth that they regret the loss of lives of Libyans, but refuse to condemn those in power (Gaddafi and his Govt.) for causing the loss of lives. DOUBLE STANDARDS?

And the only individuals that would sit idle by and see injustice prevail are the dictators who want everything and continue to keep down the poor from ever rising up,Some of the dictators would have us believe it has to do with oil but we all know better it has to do with saving the lives of people, but these dictators rather kill their own people to keep all their riches, the internatioal community have the right to prevent such killing and they have the right to be in LYBIA fighting for the lest fortunates.
The poeples of the World are fed up with these dictators of the World and they are rising up for their rights some are willing to die for democracy men like Gaddafi and Chavez dont care about their people and they are capable of commiting atrocities on the backs of the people so this haven got to do with oil it has to do with the killing of people, when suporters of his go door to door killing people what does that have to do with oil I would suggest to those of you dont care try to put yourself in the place of those folk in Lybia.
I would rather side with the USA and England than to be in bed with the likes of Lybia, Venezula,China,Iran, people of DOMINICA do you see the type of dictators little DOMINICA have aligned itself with think it over.

Though I am not a supporter of Chavez, he is just stating the obvious. If the US and it’s allies are so concerned about the killing of civilians in Libya what about the slaughter of civilians taking place in Abidjan since december of 2010, when the incumbent lost the election and refused to give up power. I don’t hear the UN calling for attacks on the Abidjan army to protect civilians…It is about OIL.

This is very true people. Look all over the world or in the same Africa where there are governments killing their people all because the people demand change. Yet there have been no intervention by the U.S and allies. In fact the U.S is benefiting from its arms sales to such corrupt governments and continues to demonstrate they have no regard for the lives of none Americans.
It’s all about controlling the resources the U.S so much craves. The U.S is a major consumer of oil.
The sad thing about it is the first black U.S president Obama who claim to rather use words to communicate and bring about change was so quick to use force before giving diplomacy a chance. We all believed he would be different and show some restraint but his actions will prove to be no more opportunistic than that of George Bush former U.S president.

Mr. Anti ignorance; please Don’t say that many Dominicans hate America. No, they don’t hate America. They hate the American government double standards. The US government is not acting fair. There are dictators who are worst than Gaddafy and the US go to bed with them. They torture, murder and brutalize their citizens and the US cast a blind eye.

Nelson Mandella spent 24 years in prison as a freedom fighter. Thousands of black South Africans were killed by the white miniority apathied government and a no-fly zone was never put in place against the South African government. President Obama won a nobel peace prize and he cast it to the pigs so they could roll in the mud with it. Tha’s a shame. His job was to mediate for a peaceful solution.

We don’t hate America we are only calling a spade a spade. See how long the Palestinians are fighting for a homeland and they are called terrorists but the Libyans are called rebels. I have been opposed to American Imperialism all my life, I have been a supporter of Ghadafi for his support to the Black Liberation movement worldwide, but Ghadafi was stupid to threaten to massacre his citizens for demanding more basic rights that we all enjoy.

          Hello Anonymous!

Don’t be so naive to let the American propaganda fool you. During the early days of the uprising almost the whole of Eastern Libya was captured by the rebels. Gaddafy forces retook it from them. How many civilians were massacred when gaddafy forces routed the rebels from the cities they had captured? You got blown away by US propaganda. The rebels are burning police stations, government officies, stealing air planes, rockets, tanks and ammunition from government warehouses. Some government soldiers defected with all their weapons and were attacking Gaddafy forces. They are the ones that Gaddafy said he will have no mercy for. You can’t fool anyone, you have never been opposed to American imperialism. You have always been a puppet and remains one. What about the palestinians struggle?

The French were heavily invested in Iraq whiles Sadam that is why they opposed the Americans going to Iraq. Now they have lost that they are looking for a replacement that is why they lead the strikes.
Italy is still pissed Gaddafi took Libya from them. The Amercains and British as usual are looking for their interest.
So many countries have leaders have leaders worse than Gaddafi, why haven’t these so called saviors intervene?? There is no oil or any resources they need. These ppl will have diplomatic relations with anyone as long it is in their best interest. Before Castro, Cuba had a dictator as a leader, but , it was ok with America cause they were allowed to do what they want in Cuba.

So why don’t they cut ties with Russia and China?? Whether you like Chavez or not it is the truth they are fighting for oil. Also war creates an economy an economy which benefits the west.

MOTS i’m struggling to figure out what is the source of your infatuation with the US.

US foreign policy is all about what will be best for their economy and security dude!! The US could care less about dictators and oppression and humanitarian intervention unless there is something in it for them!!

That’s why they won’t intervene in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain!

Can’t believe someone who reads a lot of news could be so brain-washed, you need to diversify your news sources dude and read a book sometime.
