Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down Friday and handed over power to the military — three decades of his iron-clad rule ended by an 18-day revolution.
In a somber one-minute announcement on state television, Vice President Omar Suleiman said Mubarak had resigned and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces will “run the affairs of the country.”
If that’s the way it should be then fine!!!
YOUTH RISE UP TO LEAD YOUR COUNTRY ! ! WHERE ARE THE YOUTH WHO WILL TAKE DOMINICA FORWARD ? THE TIME IS NOW , YOUTH ! ! DOMINICA IS CRYING OUT FOR CHANGE PLEASE STEP FORWARD ! ! !
SKERRIT IS NOT MUBARAK HIS NOT A MURDERER BECAUSE HE DID NOT KILL ANYONE.
MUBARAK WAS NEVER VOTED BY EGYPTIANS. DOMINICAN VOTED THE PM IN LET HIM
SERVE HIS TERM, THEN YOU ALL WILL VOTE WHOEVER YOU ALL THINK IS GOOD TO LEAD
THE COUNTRY.
It is just immoral for any one person to be in control of a country for an extended period of time. No matter how you cut it it’s not right. there’s a beginning and an end to everything under the sun. We just have to recognize when that time comes and make the exit as graceful as possilble.
Leaders(PM or Presidents) should only have only two terms in office. If they stay longer ,they become so proud and think that they can do whatever they wish. Also they accumulate great great wealth while the poor remains poor, thus the gap widens between rich and poor.Oh and yah, skerrit needs to go and now!Look now, he can not even be a man enough and resign.
some people do not know when to give up power, power can destroy leaders
3 decades?! dats a long time 2 have power over a country,..if the people werent pleased, then what took them so long?..it’s good 2 have ppl stand 4 wat they believe in..power to the ppl!
That’s one down…more to go.
All over the world people are giving their lives to get rid of their dictators. Dominica is the only place in the 21 St century, the information age, where people are nuturing a dictator. It took Egyptians 30 years to finally succeed Dominicans. 30 years!! An entire generation lived through that dictatorship and didn’t do anything about it.. Hats up to the Facebook youth of Egypt!!! Solidarity!! GReat job! Now start ceasing assets! Get your billions back!
And it was all about the people not any opposition parties I always say the power of the Country of Island is in the hands of the people so remember DOMINICANS we can make things happen because we cant run the Island as is right now and this do not have to do with hand outs it have to do with the Rule of LAW and the very first thing is and we need to know now when is the PM going to do the right thing for DOMINICA by stepping down and letting the justice system prevail.
To all dictators, beware!!!!!
I really don’t get Dominicans. I’ve been to Egypt and believe me, the things you all do in Dominica that wod have been stamped out a mellinia ago if skerrit was anywhere near this man. Egyptians were filled with fear, they had no voice and were ruled with guns by the army and police alike. You all think Dca is like Egypt? You all are pathetic. You really think Dominicans would take thirty years if skerrit regime if they didn’t want him there? Learn history and look at the late seventies in Dominica. Believe me, this is the Caribbean and we don’t ever accept what we don’t want. Not that I support skerrit, but I am waiting on the verdict. Comparing Egypt to Dca, parheitc. Try traveling or reading facts before speaking. And even if you read, you would have had to have been there to understand
in ur dreams?
this illegal Joker, thats casting a negative impact over Dominica has to be removed at ANY COST
NESSCARY!!
T3 get real.
using words like ANY COST NECESSARY is sooo dramatic.
My question to you is: How far would you go in order to get rid of Skeritt?
i wanna know for real! be careful of the things u say! they migght just come back to haunt u!
Some persons can see just their noses, not beyond. To compare what hapened in Egypt with any Dominican situation is ludicrous. Change in Islamic countries does not necessarily bring relief to the people. Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan are classic examples. The Shah was kicked out; Bhutto and Saddam were hanged Look what the people got in return. Remember the saying: The devil I know may be better than the one I don’t know. We can only hope for the best for the Egyptian people.
lomg live skerrit
I have never been one to take part in Dominican politics. UWP didnt play fair when they were in power, maybe given the chance they would have been worst than what skero is now. All politicians in Dominica are corrupt. Maybe what d/a needs is new politicians. Youth. But skero needs to go!!!
For me, the most amazing part of this whole thing is that it started on Facebook. Some are referring to this as a revolution organized and fueled by the social media. This is a great example of how the Internet and its interactive capabilities have shrunk the world. As it relates to Dominica, this is a clear indication of how much the voice of all Dominicans, to include those that are overseas, must be heard. It is no longer feasible to simply dismiss the opinions of those that are not physically there because they do have the power to influence action on the ground. Governments, especially in small countries, are now going to be challenged even further to perform and treat people with dignity and respect.
Congratulations to the people of Egypt. They stood their ground and decided that they wanted better; they were prepared to give their lives for a better future for themselves and their children. There may be several challenges ahead, but they knew they were going nowhere and decided to bring about change. Makes me even more proud of our nurses.
well laided out piece!
hELLO STAYING FROM THE OUTSIDE AND demanding THINGS FROM THE INSIDE IS KOOL IN THE CASE WITH eGYPT.. hOWEVER DOMINICA is not on the same soup as them when it comes to Politics. The way i see it if u aint contributing while overseas u don’t have shit to say.
Thats what I am talking about!!! Be strong for nothing happens before it’s time. I like when
we as the people stand up for our rights.
I hope the people of Dominica can be like that when the time comes.
the muslims are taking over you all. another irananian leadership is about to take place. it’s the beigining of the end. all in al,l a dictator is much better than the muslim brotherhood reign but what can u do. sadly that’s the choice for may of these countries, we can argue about who is to blame for this, how ever the end is near, biblical phrophecies are comming to past.
wow mubarack….. multi millionarie if not billoniare wihile the people of Egypt make less than 2 dollars a day.
see that’s how it is people that how it will alwyas be. i say skerrit has enriched himself enough time for someone else to start enriching themselves.
responding ,Madard is a multimillioner too so is Prevost de lawyer, Alick ,Austrie, Ambrose from Nigerian e-mails lol! there are many little evil millioners around Roseau possee and elsewhere on the island they are not recognized because of lowly birth. Is like Jay zee, 50cents etc around guy like Bloomberg, Bill Gates, Murdox etc. True these guys may have the green backs but their academic and business affiliations are not considered in the ranks of the elite despite all their $ from their music. It’s just not the same.We all know we have an Echo voleur P.M. 18-3 or 21-0 he voleur.
skirret will be next to go the ilegal pm bye bye skiro
YOU A DAMN EEDEEYAT!!
you can’t spell it.
SKERITT NOT GOIN NO WHERE GOD IS WITH HIM
u sure about that!
This year, 2011, reminds me of 32 years ago in 1979 when all the great dictatorship governments came tumbing down across the world – from the Shah in Iran to Eric Gairy in Grenada and Patrick John in Dominica. Such historical events at the time inspired the great calypsonian from Antigua, Lord Shorty, to compose and sing that beautiful song, “POWER, NOT BY MIGHT”. History is repeating itself once again across the globe but has not reached the caribbean yet – another PG13. Charles Savarin played a great and important role during the historical and global events of 1979. Long Live Charles Savarin! Long Live Skerrit!
Politicians with power are like crack addicts- Paros. They would do anything to hold on to power, lie cheat steal and kill. Yesterday the man said he is not resigning less than 24 hours he changed his mind .Power corrupt and corrupt absolutely. My fellow Dominicans please don’t put politicians on a pedestal. The people of Egypt knew that this leader , his family and cronies were ruthless crooks yet so many people refused to accept the truth even when the truth ws seating on their faces. Mubarak and company killed a lot of people , they victimized and oppressed so many people by implementing a police state system. They manipulated law enforcement to suite their agenda thus the reason why the police was quickly taken out of the picture.
It is a Bab Kamawad moment for us in Dominica
Well said MBA MD Dentist, accountant carpenter, mason fisherman.
DA is even more advance we are now fire bombing homes of anyone who pose a threat and the big joke is lawyer like we know who defending them.I hope when the real fire start these lawyers will be the first to go like Eugenia did with Newton. No if buts or maybes they go at 5.30 A.M
There we go .That’s what you called the power of the people.Dominicans will soon follow suite. We did it before with Patrick John,Oliver Saraphin with their Cuban ties, and we will surly do it to skerrit.Give it time oppression is for a time. when we the people had enough we will take to the streets and demand skeritt and venezula has to go
You alone FOOL, and the usual half-dozen other paros who have been following the UWP about in their last few miserably attended gatherings!!!!!
hahaa ! soo true What dat !
gay and proud? just wait till the end!
You want Skeritt to go but Eddison James party will not get in….hahaha Never!!!
We just need some new faces to take us forward James call it quit already the PM must follow.
